I suspect that may be specific to mk1 JDM Aristos? True for the mk2, but i believe he has a mk1, so it's only the drivers window that is auto. I suspect that these features that he's after came out with the mk2, and I don't know of anyone that has altered a mk1 to have those features. Yes it would seem I have a MK1 Gs300, as only the driver door is auto looks like i'll have to develop tolerance... bugger!

Follow up... The Belt tensioner for the drive belt seized up and snapped it so I it was off to Lexus at Notts to purchase a belt tensioner and drive belt. It came in at Approx £148 inc the Gold card discount, which they let me have even though I didn't have the card at that time but I had purchased the gold membership, so hats off to notts, also the staff couldn't have been nicer. Everything was all fitted for £30, so the Mansfield Lexus posse is up and about again. If ya see me say hello lol

No problem aristo... I know, I clicked (excuse the pun) onto that one after the post lol! thats how I found out it wasn't the cambelt, talk about relief. A lot of people make the jpg over gif mistake. I try to educate but most people don't really care. I think if you're going to put an image up at least make it good quality... anyway I'm waffling; enough of that. I have a top guy on the car as we speak, I could probably do it myself but this guy knows what he's doing and I'd rather it be done right and quickly. Fortunately I didn't sell the Merc and just insured it for 3 days at Norwich Union for £25 not bad I thought. PS: whats with the Aristo? is it like a Brabus for lexus?

Have a look here, it's for the turbo lump, but belt is identical. http://mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/timing_bel...ment/index.html The 2jz is a non-interference engine (well I know the gte is) unless it's had mad cams fitted, so you should be fine. Thanks for the link Aristo, the images are very poor but just about readable, they have made the mistake of using the .jpg image format instead of the gif format. Using gif would make the files smaller so they could make the images bigger and the text wouldn't have the pixelation around it and would make it readable. jpg is for graduated colors, gif is for blocks of colours. even so I have gleaned from the images that it's not the cambelt that has snapped, its the Driver/Auxillary Belt that has snapped which is most definitely the lesser of the two evils. But thanks anyway

Ok guys, I'm all ears, what do I have to do to change the cambelt on a Mk1 (1997 P) GS300se Auto Anyone care to enighten me on the procedure? I'm pretty mechanically minded but wondered if there was anything I need to look out for and what if any torque settings need adhering to blah! blah! Pics would be nice or schematics. :duh: PS: could there be any damage to the engine? I drove the car approx 500yds after the power steering went - talk about heavy, good job I'm a big chap, so I suspect thats when the cambelt snapped

Cheers guys, I think I may just have a go at the ebay stuff, its cheap as chips and I suppose done carefully would look quite cool, i also think it would protect the original from those nasty stones. I have just had my car polished up and a few stone chips painted in; the bodywork came up fantastic but I was dissapointed with the quality of work on the stone chips, i thought they'd be better repaired at a pro shop but I could have done better, and will later all the best, Lee

Well, after some soul searching my Partner and I eventually, got a Lexus GS 300 SE Auto P(1997) this car really is in excellent condition, bodywork is mint and original, no paint jobs, engine bay is Pristine, interior is very clean and everything works, good service history blah! blah! blah! Can I just say, Rodders_uk is a top bloke, Thanks for all the advice guys, looks like i'll be asking more in the future lol!

Those Glass's prices are enlightening. I think the car hasn't been looked after even though its got good SH and I have to concur that you guys seem to know your Lexus. I tend to go with my gut instincts; they very rarely let me down, and they are saying don't buy the Lexus I've looked at. Its just not right, I suppose if you have the facilities to correct the problems it wouldn't cost as much as Me doing it myself, even though I'm quite handy.

Hi all, I have just been to have a look at this car. It has a deep scratch on the passenger door approx 6 inches long, all the alloys are kerbed, there are the usual chips, and the radio display isn't displaying the characters correctly - i.e. some of the digits are missing or half displayed. it has FSH and drives very well; no knocks or wobble on the steering the engine is silky smooth and response is... well wow! The asking price is £4900 I think its too much for the condition of the car and the mileage so what would be a sensible offer considering the condition of the car stated above. I was thinking £4500? or am I being unreasonable
