  1. Thanks, I'll give them a call Liam
  2. Tempo, where in Bristol are you having this done? Do you have a phone number? I haven't picked the car up yet and might want to renegotiate the deal if its going to cost £200 to sort this! thanks Liam
  3. Chris, don't be such a grown up. I value my license so don't drive fast on the road, I would always chose acceleration and handling over top speed anyway, but the child in me still wants to say 'it can do 200mph' etc. I freely admit I'm a big kid, but I don't drive like one. To be honest we would probably all be better off with one litre ford Kas (apologies to anyone who's got one!) and tuning a car makes very little sense, financial or otherwise. Have fun Liam
  4. Will do. I might even get my car today depending on reg plates. I see you're not getting much sleep either - young kids or lots of work? I'm struggling with both!! Please don't say 'lots of beer' as I feel like I haven't visited a pub for years. Liam
  5. I didn't notice the milometer not working. I was more interested in the speedo as I was test driving it!!! I'll check. Is this fix a relay, or chip or what? thanks Liam
  6. The cruise control on the Mk1 V300 I'm getting doesn't work and it has been delimited. Should I assume that the latter caused the former? If so what, if anything can I do about it without spending a fortune, as I do a lot of Aroad/motorway journeys and don't want to be done speeding. Thanks Liam
  7. You've probably already checked but.... Don't know what's suitable for your car or what's any good, but takakaira have a few different things listed if you search for aristo. http://www.takakaira.com Liam ps the parts seem cheap - but check the postage costs
  8. My experience of insurers with modified cars is that if anything happens they make their own assessment at the time and don't pay any attention to the stated value - unless it has been agreed. I had a lancer turbo written off with a hybrid garret T3 turbo that was worth 4 times what they initially offered me for the whole car, despite having valued it honestly in the first place. If you got your car at a bargain price, then I would suggest trying to find the going rate for similar cars and use that (which I accept is probably almost impossible). Or pay extra for an agreed value policy. Incidentally it looks beautiful! How much did it cost all in - coz I think I want one!!! Liam
  9. Thanks again. I really appreciate all the help. These are the 'front pipes' I was talking about http://www.takakaira.com/asp/template.asp?...OPpLmMmhjIkgnJi Liam
  10. Ok, just read the tuning guide which is very helpful. I need a boost gauge, new plugs, fuel pump and a restrictor ring. Couple of questions Where do I get a restrictor ring from? Never heard of one of these before - how will I know if I have the right one and it has been fitted correctly? The car has an induction kit fitted already. On skylines it is possible to buy various 'shrowds' to protect the filter from hot air. Is there an aftermarket one available for the V300 or is it something you need to make yourself? I was thinking of a boost controller and using the gauge on that. It will not be much more expensive than buying a decent gauge and pod. Do you really not recommend upping the boost with standard turbos? Is the fuel pump really necessary at this point? I've seen something advertised as 'front pipes' for the Aristo. I don't think it was a decat (?) They were pretty cheap - worth buying? Thanks again Liam
  11. Thanks, its important because 'classroom power' figures need to be more accurate than 'pub bragging' figures as they are straight on the net to try to prove you wrong, lol. I'll have a good look at your guide Aristopheles. I've had skylines, lancer turbos etc in the past, so I guess the same basic ideas apply - with some cars though there are little specific things that make a difference. I apologise in advance to everyone for asking lots of questions!!! Liam
  12. Hello all on the Lexus forum. I will soon be driving my new Mk1 V300. It has an aftermarket exhaust and induction kit (for info it is also very clean, silver w/black leather and lowered with nice 17'' wheels) Overall I like the car, but I am considering adding a boost controller, plugs etc over time. I am a teacher and the boys will want to know 'what does it do sir?' - I have read so many different quotes for power and performance on the web. Can anyone tell me what kind of power, 0-60 and top speed (it is delimitted) I should expect as it is, and what improvement a boost controller would make. Also, I didn't find it that quick off the mark(top end was great) and wondered if anybody had any tips on improving this - other than stripping the car and going on a diet. Thanks in advance Liam
