  1. I am afraid I can't quite stretch to a supercharger - my insurance is going to be high enough anyway. My best quote is £1262 with Direct Line (23YO, 2YNC, 3 points)

The only supercharged IS200 they would quote me for was an import which would have been £2112 and I would have to garage the car which would be quite difficult as I can't even fit my Saxo in my garage

  2. Thanks for the tips guys. I think if the dealer will throw in metallic paint and mats, I will be happy. I am going to give the sat nav a miss - very cool to look at but I don't get lost very often:smilegrin:

I also think I will go for the sport styling pack. Loosing the headlight washers is a small price to pay for a cool looking front bumper and 18's.

  3. Any of you guys know what an IS200 Evolution is? There is a guy selling one on Autotrader which sound quite a nice motor.

    Spec is as follows:

1999 LEXUS iS 200 Evolution 2.0 VVTi 24v, 6 speed, champagne silver, 40k, full Lexus bodykit, 18'' platinum alloys, full concept Clifford with auto start & full closure, enhanced cinema sound amps & speakers with 7'' DVD/TV screen/10 disc changer . Custom 2-tone full leather trim, Lexus serviced 1999 car, 1 owner, private plate ''LEX'' plus more refinements & extras, any inspection welcome, no traders . £17,500. ovno.

  4. Kenwood and Pioneer do a few head units in their new range which play MP3 discs, but they are only as good quality as the original disc. I have listened to the new Kenwood KDC-M9021 and the new Pioneer DEHP7400R priced at £329 and £299 respectively, and both sounded really good on a disc recorded at 192Kbps but not so good at 128Kbps. At 192Kbps you could not tell it from normal CD audio (maybe a minute reduction in bass quality). The only problem is the adaptor plate needed to fit a standard DIN head unit in the IS200. I saw a shop somewhere in America that sold adaptor plates for Lexus's - I think is was in Orange County - but I cant remember the name of the shop. Anyone know of anywhere that sells them?

  5. There are also other styling options avalible from your dealer. Ask them!

The Sat Nav is a great toy, but the question is "are you going to use it"?

I asked my dealer, and he said the sport styling kit was the only styling option available for the 200 sport. I asked him if I could order TTE stuff through him and he said he didn't think so. What extras did you guys wangle??

  6. Hi Guys/UV, I could do with some help deciding what options to get on my IS. I am ordering a new IS200 Sport in platinum ice with black leather from Lexus Sheffield next week, and I cant decide wether to go for the sports styling pack or not. Has anyone got any pics of the kit and alloys? Also, when you guys got your IS's, what extras did you manage to get out of the dealer? He said he would throw in metallic paint, but I reckon he could afford to be a bit more generous than that!

One last point - The navigator is a fantastic toy, but a bit pricey - what do you lot think?

  7. What do you think to the Toyo's, super?? They always come top in the Max Power (I know it's a boy racer mag :P) surveys. They say they have the best compromise between price, grip and shape of the tyre. They are meant to be one of the best if you are trying to squeeze big rims on your car. I was considering some myself

  8. If you ask me, that guy sounds like a bit of an *******! Even though I dont like cars like Nova's and XR2I's, the world would be a much duller place if people didn't mod cars like these. I bet "chef Josh" (if that is his real name!) drives a Morris Marina or Vauxhall Viva

  9. My worst car was a 1981 Triumph Acclaim in old man beige, SAU 481X. It had one elderly owner from new until I bought it in 1997, and it took me three hours to blow three out of four exhaust valves!! I think the car had been used to doing 30mph max, because when I took it up the M1 at 95mph it took exeption! Two days after I got it back on the road, it jammed in 1st gear - new gearbox. My dad reversed into on the drive and buckled the wing and bonnet, then I drove it into a hedge while attempting a right angled bend at 50mph. I finally gave up on the car when I cracked the sump driving down a farm track. I hated every minute of that car:mad:

  10. I cannot decide which back-box (muffler to the Yanks) to put on my IS. I have narrowed it down to four. It is a choice between the popular HKS Hyper (£379), the APEX N1 (£385), the Blitz NUR Spec (£305) or the Fujitsubo Leglis R (£415). I would appreciate any opinions/comments on any of these products to help me decide. Cheers
