  1. Hows it going Galla 4. Any chance you're in Limerick?? B) Nice car by the way. :)
  2. Yeah, go for the Sport with the Escaine seats. I bought the Granite Grey/Cadoxton Slate with the black interior and Escaine seats. Its the biz :D
  3. Heres a thought. Went back to work on Monday, which requires me to hire a car and drive from Limerick to Dublin Airport. So, on Sunday afternoon, I ring my local car rental agency in Shannon Airport and reserve myself a car. Have been doing this for a while now, so I usually hire something that can handle the Irish roads like a Mondeo or Vectra, something relatively strong. I knew that this would be quite a come down, after driving my 250 Sport for the past 2 weeks. Anyway, to get to the point. I get to Shannon and am given a 2005 Ford Mondeo LX with 21500kms on the clock. I hit the road home and guess what. Not a fuking rattle, creek or squeek to be heard anywhere!! The only noise was the sound of the road and it was quite loud. In all fairness to the Lexus, the quality of the sound insulation within the cabin is excellent. Had to laugh though. Here I was, driving a car that costs less than half my 250, has 21500kms on the clock and not a sound. Surely, if the boys form Ford can do it...............
  4. Hows it going KevM. Sorry, but I can't help you out at the moment. I'm still waiting for the dealer to take my car in!! Apparently they did send a technical report to Lexus Ireland regarding this strange noise and are still waiting for a reply!! I have a feeling that they know about as much as we, the "joe public" know about this new model. Me thinks that we could be waitin a while!! If you get anymore info on this problem, please let me and the rest us know. Matty
  5. Hows it going guys. Its good to get insight from others. Now that some of you mention it, I also have noticed what you might call excessive wind noise comming from the drivers side. Didn't pay much attention to it, but am now going to add it to my list of sh!t!! As you mention rap03, the sound comming from the drivers piller is more like a vibration/rubbing. What was the cause and fix?? I assume everbody has reported these issues to Lexus UK. As I mentioned earlier, I don't have much faith in car dealers, so if I'm not happy with the outcome, I will contact Lexus Ireland and tell them to contact Lexus UK to get the information they require to fix these problems. I think the sooner Lexus UK and Lexus Ireland have a data base of all these problems, the sooner all the problems will be sorted!! Or is that wishfull thinking! Matty
  6. Well lads. I know that this rattle issue has been flogged to death. However as a new 250 owner, it really p!sses me off, especially when the car in question is supposed to be a luxury brand costing 50k+ (Euro that is). Any how. Those of you out there that have had problems with interior rattles and have had them solved, could you post the causes of the rattles and the remedies for them? Also could you post the name of the person/dealer who solved the problem so that any enquires can be gotten straight from the "horses mouth" The reason I ask this, is that I do not trust car dealers as far as I would throw them!! They're great people for telling you "that theres no problem" and "oh yes it can be sorted", "don't worry" when in fact they haven't a fuking clue! At least if I can tell them where the problem is or might be, then they won't have to waste to much time arseing about and feeding you bullsh!t. I'm sure some of you will agree with this. Thanks lads. Frustrated Matty
  7. Thanks for the positive comments lads. Wish I could be as positive, considering the rattle issues!! Anyway is booked in to be assessed by the "Lexus specialist" tomorrow. Hopefully will get it sorted. Regarding the pics. When I was hunting around for a new car, I looked at and test drove many models, Bmw 3 Series, Honda Accord Type-S, Audi A4, Golf Gti and of course the 250. Every car I looked at, I took loads of pics of, just to assist me in making my mind up. Taking loads of pics now is just a crazy habit!! Will take some pics of the interior soon as. Nicnac. When you gettin your new motor?? Lookin forward to seein the pics. Matty
  8. Hows it going guys. I finally managed to get out this morning, dodged the rain drops and took some pics of my 250 Sport. As you will notice I took quite a few. This is just a habit of mine. Hope you enjoy. If any problems let me know so I can fix. Matty My Webpage My Webpage
  9. Hows it going lads. Well it finally stopped raining here on Friday. Once I got up, took a spin down to Halfords to pick up some car-care products. Got that Auto Glym stuff, everybody seems to recommend. Got back to the house and got straight to work. The Auto Glym did a lovely job. By the time I got it finished (took about 3 hours) the sun had gone in. I had planned to take a load of pics and post them for all to see. Decided to leave it until Saturday to take the pics, yet as always, you can't rely on the fecking wx!! It was pi**ing down here again yesterday. Today is not so bad, but the car is now covered in all the sh**e the rain carried with it. Tomorrow will go and rinse it off and THEN take the pics and post them!! Hope it'll be worth it. Matty
  10. How does one upload photos onto this forum?
  11. Thanks. But how do you upload photos, ie, big photos to view??
  12. How does one upload photos onto LOC forum?
  13. Yep, you've probably guessed it. Yesterday, having said that I didn't have any problems with my new 250 Sport, guess what! I now have 3 issues, that I know of, with the car. Yesterday evening went out to the drive to look at my new machine. Squatted down to look at the front fogs and noticed that condensation had formed in them......both of them!! As you can imagine plenty of swearing and cursing. Went out for a spin and noticed a funny noise comming from the front passenger foot-well. When the car is stopped and the engine left idleing there is a rattling/grating/vibrating noise from the area around the foot-well. Almost sounds like a very very faint diesel engine noise, or a small stone being shaken in a plastic bottle! When I depressed the clutch, the noise went away and the cabin becomes quiet. Taking the foot off again, the grating/grinding noise returns. The same noise is apparent when taking off and is more evident when going from 1st to 2nd. Once in the higher gears, noise seems to disappear, or is masked by the engine. Afriend of mine seems to think it is the clutch cable rubbing off somthing. I'm not to sure as I don't know enough about cars. The last issue is a rattle, or creek comming from the drivers door. Only noticable on rough roads and in Ireland we have plenty of them!! Then again, maybe its normal and I'm just paranoid after reading all the threads about all the various rattles! Either way, I'm well f***ing irritated. Can anybody shed some light on the above problems? Did ring the dealers straight away and have been booked in to see the Lexus "specialist" on Tuesday afternoon. No doubt the fogs will have dried up by then!! Matty
  14. No, not having any problems at the moment (touch wood!!) I just like to know where I stand in the grand scheme of things, just in case of a "what if" scenario. 28 days. Thanks
  15. Hows it going guys. Have been reading here about people rejecting their new cars due to various faults. Was just wondering, how long after taking posession of a new motor, do you have to reject it and what is the proceedure? Also, what kind of problems/faults would there have to be before you could reject it? Any ideas welcome. Matty
  16. Well. Collected my new Granite Gray IS 250 Sport on Monday evening. What a car!! The Metallic colour is just the biz. Because it has been p***ing down here for 2 days, it is pretty filthy already. Once the wx dries up, will take some photos and post them for all to see. PS. Anybody tell me what are the best products to clean the car with?? Matty :)
  17. Thanks Diapason. The model I chose was the Granite Gray with the black Escaine sport interior, a mixture of Velour and leather. I think this is much cooler than the leather. Originally I went for the base model in black, but wanted the 18" alloys. However after alot of research and e-mails to Lexus Ireland, UK and Europe, the base model cannot take the 18's as it is specifically set up for the standard 16's. Hence I took the Sport model. What a diffirence!! Matty :)
  18. Hi nicnac Yes, most definitely metallic. Picked up my (we call Granite gray in Ireland) IS 250 Sport on Monday evening. What a car. Really looks the biz. Only problem is that it has been ****** down here for the past 2 days and the car now looks filthy. Once wx has dried up will take some pics and post on the forum. When you picking up your new machine?? :)
  19. Hows it going guys What do you think of the Granite gray IS 250 Sport??
  20. Anybody got any pics of a Granite gray IS 250 Sport??
  21. Hows it going lads. Thanks to all of you who acknowledged my plight for 18" alloys. Had an interesting day with e-mails from the Lexus "should know" people. I e-mailed both "Lexus Ireland" and "Lexus UK" for information on the availability of those elusive 18" wheels. Here are the replys I got from both of them Please read and let me know your thoughts. Matty Lexus Ireland: Hi Matt, Unfortunately 18" rims are not available as an accessory on the entry level IS 250. However they are available on the Sport grade which is specifically set up to accommodate them. The reason for this is that changing the diameter of the wheel by two inches significantly effects the gear ratio, safety system inputs ( such as traction control and VSC) and speed readings. However, there is an accessory wheel available ( which does effect these systems) for the entry level - a 10 spoke 17" alloy. Your dealer will be able to provide you with prices and availability of these wheels. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask Lexus Uk: Good day to you too, I hope you had a pleasant weekend. This is what I can update you on at the moment. If you were to purchase a Base model IS 250(with 16” alloys), you can purchase 18” alloys and fit them later. I think whoever told you that the Base model could not accommodate 18” alloys, meant they are not part of the purchase package for the base model IS. And which ever design you choose they would certainly fit all models, however please be aware, that a larger wheel would effect your MPG reading. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
  22. Just to make sure!! Thanks Mike Appreciate that. Just need to get familiar with the technical Jargin now!! Thanks. No doubt I'll be back with more questions!
  23. Hows it going guys. As a "newbie" to this game (only found the site yesterday), I need some help/advice. I'll be picking up my new IS 250 next week, the base model, with 16" wheels as standard. From the begining I decided that I wanted 18" alloys as an extra, preferably the same ones on the Sport model. However, the dealer in question told me that the base model was not capable of accommodating 18" wheels, as the car was not set up for them!! He went on to tell me that Lexus themselves didn't recommend the 18's, but did recommend the 17's. I have seen on the Lexus UK website that there are 2 sets of 18's available as an optional extra. As I live in the Irish Republic, I don't think these will be available for some time. However, I travel to the UK many times a year and plan to buy them while I am their. But, will they fit!!!!!!!! Any help would be appreciated.
