  1. I see in the latest Lexus magazine they have a bit about a Lexus fitted IPod Kit available for all Lexus models. Can't find any more information on the Lexus web page about it, does anyone know how much they will cost and any more details on just what it can and can't do? Cheers Barry
  2. The RX-8 I had before the Lexus was a Coupe and that had 4 doors :) Suicide doors on a Lexus, h'mmmmm Barry
  3. I get about 29-30, mixture of urban and motorway Barry
  4. Have a Road Angel Plus working fine in mine without an external antenna if that helps Regards Barry
  5. The Mazda RX-8 I traded in for the IS250 had electric steering, so not quite unique :) The steering was better on that, but the MPG was pants :( Barry
  6. The Mazda RX-8 I traded in for the IS250 had them on the left too, long time since I have seen them on the right in the UK... Cheers Barry
  7. "I wish the parking break was electronic." Can you get Electronic Parking brakes...what happens when the battery goes flat...? Seriously though, the parking brake on the auto I test drove was a bit annoying, it wasn't easy to see where the brake was when it's "on" when you get in the car as it was obscured by the dashboard and it was a bit like playing the drums "press right foot on brake, press start button, press left foot on parking brake, engage drive, press accelerator" Barry
  8. ASL? What is that? An acronym I have missed?
  9. I don't have the car at all, but I can hear it rattling already Barry
  10. Do you mind if I ask how much they charged you to fit the kit? Barry
  11. Thanks for the replies, I guess I need to wait for it to get a bit darker to try the lights out on Auto. Saracen, yep I went for the MM option, really impressed by what it can do, the sat nav is the best I have seen and I have tried quite a few, and the Bluetooth handsfree worked great as well. Went for Brechin Slate as a colour, although I am not really worried about colours too much as long as it doesn't show up the dirt too quickly :winky: Barry
  12. Well I finally decided to put an order for a IS250 SEL Auto after another test drive. just got to wait for it to turn up now (June/July it seems). I had a another test drive before going ordering, and had a question on the "Auto" Lights setting. What exactly is it supposed to do? Are the lights supposed to come on when it gets below a certain light setting? If it is can you set the light level it turns on at? Or does it do something completely different? Any thoughts? Barry
  13. I think the Lexus (and my Mazda) have a crash sensor that opens the doors if it senses an impact. This in itself is a security risk (think jack up car, hit sensor with hammer, hey presto doors open, seen RAC do it when keys locked in car). Hopefully the Lexus has a motion sensor to check the car was moving before the sensor is activated... It's all "swings and roundabouts" Barry
  14. Thanks for all the replies, sounds like it's the same as my current car. Normal Lock = locking system engages, car can be unlocked from the inside and out either with a key or by activating the buttons on the inside of the car (even with a coat hanger, bricks and the such like) Deadlock = locking system engages and is mechanically locked so only the key can unlock it (pressing buttons on the inside of the car does nothing) So deadlocks are good to avoid theft, unless you have accidentally left a child or passenger on the inside of the car, as they are stuck and get to listen to the alarm until you return... (sorry been there done that... ) Barry
  15. Another question on the new IS250 :) When do the doors deadlock? There seems to be at least two ways to lock the doors - Exit the car and press the little button on the door handle - Exit the car and press the lock button on the key ring Do the deadlocks go on automatically, or does this just normally lock the car, no deadlocks until you do something else? The reason I ask is that my current car only locks on the first press of the key ring lock, a second press is needed to deadlock it. Does the Lexus do the same (or similar)? Almost convinced myself to splosh the dosh and place an order Barry
  16. Well, thats interesting the IS250 SEL that I had for a test drive last weekend seemed to suffer from the smelly socks syndrome as well, but it came and went (and came back again) so regularly, and only for a couple of minutes I didn't take too much notice of it. Hope it's not a trend Barry
  17. What I saw of the Sat Nav (and the other parts that come with the Multimedia Pack) is very impressive, much better than the one in my current car (Mazda Rx-8) and that isn't that bad (shows how fast technology change in just a couple of years!). 5 character Postcode search is OK, of course full search would be better... (I have a Garmin standalone one that does it). Actually the main reason for wanting the multimedia pack is for the Bluetooth Handsfree, I was going to stick with the Garmin Sat Nav, but the one in the pack is almost as good, so might sell the Garmin one if I go for the IS250 Barry
  18. Thanks for the quick replies, I didn't try clicking on the the town, I assumed the Post Code would be an option from the destination screen itself. Will have a look next time I visit the dealer. Barry
  19. I had a test drive of the IS250 at the weekend and was having a play with the Sat Nav. Does anyone out there who has the Sat Nav on their IS250 know if there is a way to search by Post Code? I couldn't see any way to do this, only by street name and city. It will be a bit of a pain if you can't use the Post Code (my current car does post code search on the Sat Nav). Barry
  20. Thanks Mike/Kazi for the welcome, I guess I will give me something to do with my other foot when parking ;) Barry
  21. I am thinking of getting a IS250 SEL Auto and have been reading around the forum, the owners manual etc for a few days and have a couple of questions that hopefully some owners can answer - I thought I saw somewhere a picture (cant find it now) that there are heaters in the windscreen to defrost the wiper blades, but there is no mention of it in the specs or the US Owners manual. Can anyone confirm these definitely exist on the UK models? Having broken a few wiper blades trying to free them from the screen on frosty days this would be a great feature. - On the auto is the parking brake a handle or a foot pedal? I know the guys in the US are into pedals but I haven't seen them in the UK often. Any help welcome :-) Barry
