I think 9.5 secs is about right, "feels" a little slower overall than my previous Vectra 2.0 SRi, but is actually quicker at the top end.
It's a peaky motor, so 0-60 is a little slow, but once it "gets up on the cam" it's pretty quick.
The engine suffers from a lack of grunt, but if you slip the clutch and work the gearbox you can make surprisingly rapid progress.

I reckon you'll get more miles from a tankful, unless you keep booting it :D

For the 2 days per year we get snow here, snow tyres aren't worth it ;)

Caffeine Bomb, I'm with you, that one is sweet. Who makes it? How much is it?
-
yeah, I saw that and thought "wow, cool new look for the site - wait a minute..." :D

you'll find Optimax is cheaper than other garages high octane fuel too.
Definately sounds like the Windom prefers the higher octane juice.

automatic headlights was the thing I loved most, they're just so decadent, LOL :D

What a stout fellow- we'll have a whip-round for the £8 when we meet!
We'll call it a pint and a bag of pork scratchings :P

think it would work sweet in mine as mine is tuned for 100ron
I'd reccommend it in yours, you'll probably find the cost evens out. Certainly wouldn't hurt to try it.

Hmm, Bradford eh? Saves me selling it.
"No don't hurt me [whisper] make sure I never see it again [/whisper]" ;)

Was one of my posts deleted last night, or was i to drunk to hit "Post New Topic"?
I think it was the drunk thing...

Well, the result are in. I tried Shell Optimax for 3 tankfuls, then switched back to normal unleaded for a tank to see what the differences were.
The result: I'm about £8 worse off than I would have been.
No noticable increase in performance, no improvement in economy.
Keep your money in your pockets.
Disclaimer: other vehickes may well prefer Optimax, this was a highly unscientific experiment and does not represent the views of the site owners, members, or (strangely enough) the author. :D

not only does the cabrio look fake, it proves that an IS cabrio wouldn't be such a great looker, looks very bland!

that's the worst Photoshop hack I've ever seen, I'd take it with a pinch of salt
-
Hmmm, never noticed any surging when warmed up, but yes, the throttle is choppy when cold, but clears once warm.
-
I know my car too well for this to happen:
thick layer of salt? check
scabby alloys? check
2 years worth of airfresheners hanging from the rear view mirror? check
:D

Yup, count me in. I might even wash my car for the event :)
IS-PW, if you don't want to leave your Lex at Liverpool Airport (a sensible move considering the location) you could leave it at my house and get a taxi, it's only 15 mins away. If you're lucky, I might even give you a lift ;)
Unless you're going between 8 - 22, as I'm away myself

It only affects the warranty if the gas system is found to be at fault.

wtf? Tesco wanted £907 too. Esure wanted £1000.
I think my SP60 counts against me more heavily than a normal speeding conviction. Even though I was stopped on a motorway (SP50 is speding on a motorway) I got an SP60 (undefined speeding offence) which probaly makes Underwriters think "what the hell did this guy do?"
-
amen to that!
I know there's a device available for Honda's that let's you play with the VTEC settings. Is there anything like that for our VVTi? I have myself convinced that the VVTi is a con, and in fact it just makes a step in the power for the sake of it :D
What you wnat is the following motor:
1G-GTE DOHC 4 85-90 1988* 210@6200 203@3800 75 75 8.5:1
It takes twin-turbos to reach that kind of power. None of the 1G series has made more than 168 without forced induction. I found a couple of Toyota engine websites, and the general consensus was 1G = don't bother.
Anyone got a used 4.3 V8? :D

I'm colour blind, so I'm not bothered too much. What are the colours now? :D

excellent, I'll be there. It's a great museum and it'll be nice to put some faces to the names.
I hope the weather isn't too nice, as I'll be tempted to bring the bike instead of the Lex ;) j/k
