  1. Does any IS come with heated washer nozzles that can be retro fitted? I'm sick of my nozzles freezing, even when using sh*tloads of de-icer screenwash.

Any other solutions to this problem?

One idea is to lengthen the pipe to the nozzles and wrap it around the rad top hose, but that's a bit lo-tech for my liking ;)

  2. We've had no snow here in the Mersey Valley, but last year my car was *******. There were 2 days I couldn't use it as I could get it off the drive, but couldn't move anywhere except to the end of my cul-de-sac

This year it's been fine, but I did manage to scare myself on the M6 this morning, accelerating out of Knutsford services, accelerating hard in 3rd, hit a patch of ice under a bridge and ended up in a nice 60mph drift. Impressed the WRX driver behind me though :D

  3. I'm trying to get mine replaced as they're spotted all over, not very badly, but they shouldn't be spotted at all, my Clio Si alloys are unmarked, and that car was less than half what the Lex cost!

My dealer said in the summer that the wheels weren't bad enough to be accepted back by Lexus UK but he would inspect them after winter. I never wash my wheels now (excpept when the dealers wash them at every service!), so they have a good coating of brake dust and salt that should accelerate the corrosion :D

  4. Big up respec' for Lexus Warrington (in Cheshire). I had brake problems on the Sunday before Christmas, phoned them on Monday am (Xmas eve), they agreed to look at the brakes that day, I took the car in, they stripped, cleaned and inspected everything, found no problems (the cleaning helped a lot though!) and didn't charge me a penny. This on a day when they were closing early and were already very busy.

I think they were just after my servicing work ;)

I usually use Holdcroft Lexus in Stoke-On-Trent (2 mins from work) and they're generally very good and usually give me their LS430 as a courtesy car despite the fact I'm a scruffy oik :)

  5. My dealer is actually pretty OK, although I like to shout at them once in a while, just to keep them on thier toes. I've been trying to get my aloys replaced under warranty. The dealaer told me not to wash them for 6 months, and then he'll see what he can do ;)

Oh, and my gearbox is *****, but they always reassure me that "they're all like that, sir" in which case I say "well they're all *****".

How can a £20k+ car come with a gearbox that crunches second gear (if it will go in at all) as a design feature?

  6. So what are you getting next???

I wish I knew, I'm driving myself mad asking that very question :D

I want something stupidly quick (that I can afford to insure)

It has to be fun (but good on the motorway)

It has to be reasonably economical (but is stupidly quick)

    See the bind I'm in?

  7. I would contact Lexus GB customer services and tell them about your problems, with the reputation they have for quality I don't think they will want you to go and publicly complain about it. e.g Auto Express.

On the other hand if you get no joy it sounds like it's time for a trade in, let some other poor sod put up with it.

You don't wanna buy it do you? :D

I'm selling it anyway. I loved this car, but it's time to move on. I need more power and can't justify £5000 for an extra 50bhp.

  8. Actually, the 0 -60 time on that page is wrong, the actual time is over 10 secs. The car used a 3 litre V6 from the Renault 30 and was no fireball. Of course the real reason for the company going bust was John Z DeLoreans embezzlement of millions of pounds of tax payers money. Oh, and the fact the car was crap.

Still, they are cool in a kind of underdog way, and of course a certain movie helps the image somewhat ;)

  9. Further update:

The handling seems to be improving, although the car still squirms a little on damp roundabouts more than it used to, at least it no longer threatens to kill me. The tyres seem to be wearing OK, no obvious signs of abnormal wear. Maybe the IS is _very_ sensitive to tyre choice?

  10. Checked the pressures and they're fine, although I dropped them a couple of psi and the situation improved slightly!

The car is on standard suspension, but I did hit a kerb about 8 months ago pretty hard (got it sidways on a roundabout, over corrected and hit the kerb broadside, took 2 big chunks out the wheels) but the problems have only appeared since the new tyres went on.

Hopefully the service this week will shed a little light!

  11. Fitted new rear tyres a couple of weeks back (cheapo Kumho) and since then the handling has turned to sh*t. I don't think it's that the Kumho tyres are sh*t, I think something has gone wrong with my alignment. The tail now steps out really easily, and feels nervous all the time. I need to constantly correct the steering on the motorway for example.

The original left rear tyre was heavily worn on the outside edge, so I'm hoping that when my car gets serviced this week they can correct the problem. Do the dealers have the equipment to do a full 4 wheel alignment?

Any words of comfort would be nice :)

Hopefully I won't end up backwards in a hedge before it gets sorted.
