  1. UPDATE : I went to the dealer this morning for a diagnostic and estimate. The problem was a torn/cut wire at a connector on the pneumatic suspension system loom (located at the rear right side, up the bumper somewhere). The dealer actually re-soldered it and in 30 min it was working again. The repair was considered as final by the mechanic, so I think I'll have to take his word for it. We're out of Lexus warranty but it costed nothing. And I also got a free Nespresso... Cheers, Fabrice
  2. By reading your replys (thanks, by the way), it seems it's the compressor or the wiring. The dealer checked with Lexus Belgium who also said it probably is the wiring. I hope they'll replace the faulty part with a different and imporved P/N. On the good news front, the Lexus warranty ran out, but not the 1-year warranty given by the used car specialist I bought it from! :) I completely forgot about it. I'll keep you posted. Fabrice
  3. The warranty has expired on our RX300. Time to think again about a proper LPG installation. I had a very good quote for a sequential vapour phase injection (BIGAS SGIS PLUS at 2600 Eur all inc) and donut tank i.l.o. the spare wheel. Waiting for a quote from Prins (see above). I'm still debating of its interest with the owner of the car (my wife). I have a few questions to those who already run on LPG : - when they say the tank is 80l of capacity, is it the actual volume of the tank or the amount of fuel you can tank in it? - by how much approx does the fuel economy depreciate from running on petrol? Cheers, F
  4. My wife's RX300 developped a fault on the air suspension too. It's stuck in the "N" position, won't move from there and displays a "off" warning message. But the car seems to be even on its 4 wheels. The dealer who checked the diagnostic code thinks it's the wiring loom that failed (because it's know to be slightly too short, he said). Back to the dealer on Monday for a deeper diagnostic. The car is out of warrabty since last July... F
  5. I started a thread about it last June : http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=34222 Nobody seemed to worry back then. Fabrice
  6. I'd certainly pay a fiver for a copy too, provided it includes the last generation RX300 too (2003MY). I guess these are copies of the US manuals, as these are available over there. I even think it's a legal requirment that the tech manuals be available to the customers. Fabrice
  7. We've had our (used) 2003MY RX300 for 5 months now, and if I indeed noticed the issue described in this thread (tip-in at crawl speed), it is not to an extent that I would complain about it to the dealer. Now, some cars might be worse than others, or the issue might be appear worse with very different driving patterns. In our case, two drivers (wife and myself). And very different driving patterns throughout the day (race to work/school - quiet cruise to help baby sleep). Also, when driving fast, I always select the S range on the transmission. I recommend eveyone having a serious concern about the RX transmission to go out and drive test a Volvo XC90 D5 Geartronic as a benchmark. Maybe some of you have been driving Lexus for too long and lost track with the real world. :winky: Cheers, Fabrice
  8. I got a phone call from my dealer. A recall is starting soon on a limited series of RX300. The recall work was described by my dealer as the "replacement of a brake booster o-ring". Note : I'm located in Belgium, so I'm talking here about a LHD version. Might not even affect RHD VINs. Thought I'd let you know. Fabrice
  9. Did you install the VPI system from Prinz Autogas, the Dutch company? I've visited them a few years ago for a tech support on a Racing BTCC Honda Civic-R running on LPG. They seem to know what they do and I would definitely go there for the LPG ECU calibration. And they are at an hour drive from where I live. Cheers, Fabrice
  10. After a quick search, I haven't found any info on this. There is no passenger airbag deactivation switch in my wife's RX300, which is a bit sad as we'd like time to time to carry our baby in her rear-faced maxi-cosi on the passenger seat. Does anyone know if there is a retro-fit kit available from the dealer. Or a DIY somewhere on the web? Cheers, Fabrice
  11. I'm thinking of converting my wife's 2003MY RX300 once the warranty has expired. Thanks for the encouraging testimonies. Fabrice
  12. Hi all, My wife is the proud owner of a secondhand 2003MY RX300 (new model), with absolutely all the options available (plus some accessories). We've had it for more than 2 weeks now and it really is the quiet rolling lounge we were expecting. Coming from a TDi Audi, mind you. It also came with a few issues that should be solved under warranty by Lexus : - dasbboard creaks (actually 2 sorts of noises, both already described on this forum) - the power tailgate is dead now, after only one day playing with it... Our other car (actually mine) is a Standard Power Mazda RX8. But I enjoy driving the RX300 (in a relaxed way, at legal speeds, for the first time in my life). I was surprised by the fast response of the Auto'box, the pace you can achieve when you press on and the amazingly sporty engine note at kickdown. I'm located in Belgium. I registered on the UK site because the Euro site seems to be a German language forum. By the way, does anyone has TSB references for the dashboard noise issues? Cheers, Fabrice
