  1. I am from South Africa. I do not know if our part numbers are the same as in Europe. I think that they are. The IDLER Part Number is 1350370080. The Tensioner Part Number is 1354070021. The Belt Part Number is 1356879235. Good Luck Regards Mike
  2. You are absolutely right Dave. Good Idea. This is not a job that includes smoke breaks or electrical experiments.
  3. I don't know if you had success in sorting this out, but I have a few ideas. I removed my fuel pump from inside the tank this past weekend to change the fuel filter. The level sensor ( floater ) is attached on an arm on the side of the fuel pump. To remove the fuel pump remove the bottom cushion of the back bench. This is a 1 minute job. It has 4 clips that unclip easily when you exert some minor force. Now remove the cover that exposes the fuel tank door. ( Do this process only when your vehicle is low on fuel. ) Unclip the fuel pipe and diconnect the electrical connection. Remove the 8 bolts that hold the fuel pump assembly cover in place. ( you need a number 8 socket to do this ). The entire fuel pump assembly now slides out. You will see this arm and float on the side. I did find when inserting the fuel pump assembly into the tank it is possible to get the inlet pipe to obstruct the floater. This may be your problem. Good Luck ... Mike
  4. My '99 is200 has a problem which I have been trying to resolve for a while. It will not start -- No fuel. I have found that I have no power to the fuel pump. ( ever ). Even when cranking the engine. I have reset the ECU without success. Does anybody know which sensors could affect this ??? Or is there a fuse that I cannot find ??? Or does this vehicle have sensors which cut the fuel during an accident ??? If so where are they ??? ( I have not had an accident but suspect a faulty sensor ) Thanx
  5. My '99 is200 standard has done 207000km that is 168000 miles , i've had to change 2 Ignition Coil packs and one catalytic converter due to this + done the clutch otherwise a beauty. ( now having some fuel problem not too serious )
  6. Thanks , I tried running the vehicle with the fuel cap open but still get the problem. ( Eliminates the breathing option ) I only realised that the fuel filter never needs to be replaced after I had already bought it, so think I might as well try give it a go anyway. I am always in a hurry any only fill up when way past empty. I hope it is not the fuel pump as this is really big bucks. Regards Mike
  7. I googled it using "Lexus" + is200 + "Fuel Filter" while trying to find info on how to change the fuel filter. Great site !!!
  8. Thanks I will let you know. Great Forum !!! We don't have anything like this is South Africa. Lexus is not too popular here as it is very expensive Vs BMW equivalents. Great car though had mine since '99 with few problems.
  9. A hole in the radiator would be a terminal problem where the car would overheat due to the loss of coolant. The burbling sound is a gurgling noise from under the dash when idling and/or as you pull of. This does not affect the running of the vehicle at all it is just irritating. This a very common and well documented problem with the IS200.
  10. I have a problem with my '99 IS200 ( 207 000km ) where the vehicle will sometimes not start. ( Not getting fuel ). This seems like some kind of Air Lock in the fuel system. The only way to get it to start is to add fuel directly to the injector and then when the vehicle starts it runs fine. This occurs shortly after filling up with fuel and only then. The car will be fine until I fill it with fuel again. I suspect the Fuel Filter or Fuel Pump or Fuel pressure sensor or that the tank cannot breathe. It seems like changing the fuel filter is a mission since it is in the tank. Does anybody know how to change this. i.e. Do you have to remove the fuel tank ? Or can you access it if you remove the back seat etc.
  11. This burbling sound is caused by air in the cooling system , specifically the Heater matrix. I get rid on this by parking the car with the front higher than the rear , filling the coolant bottle right to the top , idle the vehicle with the radiator cap removed while continually filling the radiator with coolant. You will see the trapped air bubble out as the car warms up. ( do this for about 5 minutes )
