thanks for that,I was wondering whether to try changing the end seals in the rack first,but need to know a part number so i can get them before starting the job ,if i remove the seals to get the part number im without transport untill the following w/end,any idea where i could find out ?? Ian.

mechanic that does my work if its beyond me ( he does quite a lot ) reckons that before having the rack rebuilt he could change the outer oil seals first,to see if its that thats failed, has anyone done this job,any idea on part number to save me missing a days work taking them out to get the number and then chasing them up, help would be appreciated. got chance of some 18" chrome wheels for the celsior(91) brand new, but how do you get the tyre size for the new wheel to keep the same circumference,at present there 16" with 225/60/16 tyres,bit thick when it comes to this as ive never changed sizes before,will 18's fit ok or are 17's a better bet,help would be appreciated. thanks. posted the other day about the leaking steering rack,found a rack but the guy at the shop "who said on sat that the 91 ls400 rack was the same as the celsior"wasnt in today and his dad says they are differant ,I was under the impression that apart from a few cosmetic changes(electrical and suspension,mines got air)the mechanicals were the same,can anyone advise please,it seems i'm going to have to remove the rack and send it away to be reconditioned,but im now wondering what other differances are there,what about wishbone's and ball joints,disk's etc,this is rapidly becoming a very comfortable quiet headache. right then,back on at last,for some unknown reason i've not been able to log on,so registered again under ian11 (instead of ian10) boo hoo lost my posting count now,will have to start again !! 1991 celsior,radio went dead while playing a tape,cd didnt work anyway but it was powered and would eject the disc's and sort them when put back in but not show on the display,not a prob,i thought cos ive vast amounts on the i-pod so i'll use that i thinks,but it dying put paid to that,when the headunit went dead so did the changer,no power to it,checked the fuses (1 under the dash and one under the bonnet)both ok,now before i start looking at fitting an after market unit,does anyone know of anymore fuses cos i sure cant find any on the dvd manual i bought,and if its kapput,has anyone fitted an after market unit and whats involved,my existing system has the changer in the boot with amp on top (pioneer),and will a new unit with the wiring adapters(if available !!)work with the existing amp , it sounded ace before and wouldnt want to ruin it,or am i looking at taking and having an install with new wiring and amp etc,its not too bad at the moment cos i enjoy the silence supplied with this fine vehicle,but a bit of posing goes down better with the bass pumping,awaiting your reply with limited funds ready. yours.
