  1. Just done the largest jouney i've ever driven in my IS200 and after a while it starts to sound like I've got a flat spot on the tire which keeps going round n around getting faster as i accelerate. I know the tires and alloys are fine the car was only serviced a month ago.

When I got home i checked all the wheels and the the rear drivers side brake is soooooo flippin hot you can feel the heat radiating off it without putting your hand even near the alloy wheel. It stinks allot too like a metal on metal or electrical burning.

All my other wheels are no where near as hot.

I'm worried i might muck up my discs if i continue driving the car like this although i do need it for work. Is that the problem in the first place? :duh:

Anybody got any ideas what this could be and should I continue to drive the car like this as my work place is only 3miles from where i live?

Here's a pic of the rear discs.

  2. I dont know why people slate SCHUMI!

Its probably got something to do with jealousy!

And how can someone say its boring cos he wins all the time, surely he should be respected as a supreme individual if hes winning all the time, and is that his fault the rest of the field are not up to his standard!

Why do people seem to love moaning when there is a certain individual in his feild dominating, does that mean were sore losers!

Yes he is very competitive and has a dark side to him but dont we all at some point!

He has broken records left right and centre, Revived Ferrari and is the best driver ever!

So show the man some respect!

It wouldn't matter who was winning or what sport it is golf, tennis etc, just think that ANY sport becomes boring when it becomes so predictable. What is the point in having a competition when you know who's going to win all the time as it's not really a competition.

Didn't viewing figures go through the floor for F1 and they had to change the rules to make it more interesting and get viewers back or did I just imagine this one day on the news? Oh look no i didn't imagine it here's the proof

I think he's a great driver by the way.

  3. Nearly every single time i heard the F1 results he had won (like i didn't see that one coming each time the results appeared on the TV!) that's why i got so so bored with F1 in the first place it was getting so predictable.

I think he was just too good which made the sport all so boring for me, I prefer a bit more competition. Maybe F1 will become allot more interesting now as others will be battling it out a bit more rather than seeing the same old red car going round the track all by itself. Didn't you guys ever get bored with that? maybe I'm just not an F1 person? I dunno. I find the World Rally's allot more interesting.

Who do you think will be up for winning now?

  4. All it does is reduce the sensitivity of the throttle pedal - will therefore change mpg in the same way as if you didn't press the accelerator as hard! :P

And i thought it'd be something more interesting than that, i'm devistated!. I was hoping that some ski's come out the sides like the bond car. :crybaby::lol:

  5. Sorry to hear about your loss, it's not just the fact of someone stealing your property it also makes you feel violated too.

You might find that they come back again if your insurance pays out for new tools etc.

They will probably asume that your insurer has paid out for the stolen property and that you now have some nice new tools to come back to and steal, these are usually what they are after. Theives will steal items (not just tools) so that when they are replaced with a brand new item they can steal that too as it is worth more money to them, if it's new it's easier to sell on.

Hope their dangly bits drop off!

Ever thought of some guard dogs? :winky:

  6. He has made mistakes, but I think hes been great for the sport, an inspiration for others to aspire to. I enjoy watching him drive because of his sheer talent, he's ruthless out there nobody can knock his ability. By far the best F1 driver im ever likely to see.

Nobody supports Button because hes a complet w :tsktsk: r! Money grabbing turn coat. Other than that he's just rubbish. I don't think he'll ever do anything special.

Didn't know Button was like that as I hardly watch F1 anymore, I just think we should be supporting our own British drivers rather than a foreigner even if they are good drivers etc. Button just happend to be the first one i could think of off the top of my head.

Couldn't stand Schumacher and never have.

I'd love to have seen Schumacher against Mansell.

Think Mansell might of won, but I'm biased.

Does anyone watch Rally driving atall?

  7. Sorry but i can't stand the guy I'm glad to see him go (I gave up watching F1 because of him winning all the time), I don't watch allot of F1 any longer but what ever happend to supporting our British drivers like Jenson Button?. :tomato:

I live 2 miles from a town that is proud of it's motoring heritage which is BRM (British Racing Motors) it was established in 1947 we have a memorial in town LINK HERE.

We used to have a perkins engine factory untill it went up in flames a few years ago. You've probably heard of Pilbeam Motor Racing? (you can see how it all links together here). I've been lucky enough to meet Mr Pilbeam as his wife works in the same College as me, they now build F3 cars with Lotus engines in them.

Don't know if you guys have ever been in a garage where they build F3 cars but the place has completely white walls and floors and every car is parked perfectly within the red lines etc. If you sneezed near the car or got a spec of dust on the car, floor, wall they'd go mad at you.

I was fixing a PC they were using for CAD to design the shape of cars on and i've never seen so many huge screens with a framework of a car slapped across them all, it was quite amazing seeing these guys sitting there taking a few mm off here adding a few there etc.

  8. I work in IT at a Tech College and have installed a few wireless access points around the campus. So we have tested Netgear, Netgear Rangemax, Belkin and D-Link. Netgear has been the best one by far (hence i have a DG834GT router at home like yours) mine has been flawless. Netgear Rangemax is good but you don't really need that for home use, although it does have pretty blue flashing Led's on the top if your into that kind of thing. :P

    I'd rate them:

    1. Netgear 108Mb (Good overall signal and it doesn't just drop out when you move it around probably the easiest to setup)

    2. Netgear Rangemax (Good but a waste of extra money just for home use and you have to be carefull where your put it as the signal seems to be there one moment then can just dissapear completely)

    3. D-Link (takes a long time to boot up if you keep turning it off then on to use it sometimes upto 4 min's but the signal is fine)

    4. Belkin (was.....well gave up on that one in the end :tsktsk: , i think it's sitting in a draw collecting dust now)

On the D-Link models you can not hide the SSID (name of the access point) on the B signal so anyone could find it who has a laptop which worried me slightly for security.

I'd say you've just been unfortunate and got a duff Netgear one or the firmware on it just needs upgrading, they should just replace it with a new one.

    Hope this helps :)

  9. Puresilk - I reckon you're right. I've run mine to just below the empty line a few times and it takes 60 litres to fill it again, so the reserve must be 10 litres.

If I take it easy with my IS200 SE I get about 440 miles to the tank, so around 33 mpg. My journey is usually mixed between 20 miles motorway and a 3 mile traffic jam each day (M8 in Glasgow).

I've had a wee fuel economy calc on my site for a while. In addition to working out MPG it also stores a wee fuel ecomony "league table". Feel free to give it a go and add your figures if you like...

    Cheers,

    Grant.

Nice site Grant, thanks for the Calc. :)

Its good news today as petrol prices are tumbling to less than 89p a litre then, and still falling. :D :D :D

    Infinity...........

I've noticed Shell petrol seems to be allot cheaper than BP at the moment

  10. Do you think this is cost/time effective for the bhp gain or should i just slap a new exhaust on?. I won't be putting an S/C or Turbo on this car as i'd rather spend that kind of money on a more shiny Lex.

  11. Hi

what year is your IS ? my hi flow cat only fits 1999- May 2000 cars

on emissions there are no problems as my car passed MOT with it fitted

it does throw a CEL light (working on fixing that) its the sensor after the cat...as there is more exhuast gas flowing more quickly it gets confused (checked error codes so this is fact not conjecture)

you have to tell insurer about the Kazama and should tell them about the hi flow cat...but from the outside the cat looks OEM :winky:

Thanks for the advice :) My IS is a 1999

  12. Thinking of de-cating my IS200 SE and fitting the Prolex Kazama exhaust. Does anyone know if I de-cat the mid section and the manifold and fit the Kazama exhaust if this will affect my engine/more wear and tear, would it be worth getting a garage to do this?. Would it emit more C02 and fail an MOT test/make the car illegal?. Would i have to tell my insurer atall? So many questions....:duh:

    - Paul

  13. The majority of the braking is done at the front of the car, but I'd replace them anyway for safetys sake, you never know when someone is going to pull out in front of you or going to walk out in front of you.

Strange but I've noticed that people have started doing both all the time recently, only since I got the new car, it's crazy!

The rear disks will be the same cost as a night out on the town nowadays so it's definitely worth doing them ASAP!

That's some of my exhaust funds gone :crybaby:

  14. Thats about how mine looked at their worst, which ultimately resulted in new pads, disks and calipers.

They should be as clean and shiny as the fronts after any decent journey.

I only travel short journeys/around town. Do you think new rear discs would be of any advantage to me at the moment or should I wait till they "pack in"?

  15. It depends if you are using a wireless gateway (Router) or just a USB modem. If you keep your wireless router turned on all the time (like mine) the IP Address won't change untill you turn it off and on again, the same with the modem (loses the IP when your turn your PC off and on again or loss of power to the modem). You can get a static IP Address which will not change from your internet service provider but you usually have to pay extra for it. :)

    Start

    Run

    in the box type

    ipconfig

This will display your internal IP address if you want your external IP (Internet) you need to go to www.whatismyip.com

  16. My girlfriend also has a Clio and it stands on it's nose even if you sneeze on the brake pedal. They shouldn't be as sharp as the Clio. My SE is a 99' plate, here's a pic of the rear discs. Your starting to get me worried now as I have allot of rust on mine. Is this normal?

    Here's the front.
