  1. Hi All, Just needed some advice off the back of this post - my clutch release bearing rattles occasionally - but the clutch seems to be fine, in that it does'nt slip and still pulls fairly strong and i dont appear to have any problems selecting gears. I guess my questions is to do with the clutch pedal feel - i've owned the car for around four years and it feels slightly heavier...is the clutch generally heavy??... Should i budget for a new clutch? Also car has done 108k on original clutch - ( so far !!) Thanks...
  2. Hi there - as mentioned above fairly simple job - can be done with a trolley jack / axle stands...but before you remove the sump plug and drain the oil - ensure you can access / remove the filter - its in quite an awkward position Good luck...
  3. I'd have to agree... You do pay for what you get...and something like the water pump, being that it is so integral - I would definitely say pay the extra for the original item...
  4. Hi Mate, Car looks really good!.. With regards to the rear lights they look really good..Do you have any other images ?...I was thinking about the same rear lamps, but was'nt sure whether they where legal i.e whether they had reflectors?... Also are they bright?... Cheers...
  5. Hi Mate, I too had my water pump replaced at 70K when I had all the belts and tensioners done, also a good excuse to have a coolant flush too. However, when my mechanic showed me the state of the pump, it was immaculate and he said it would happily lasted longer, but again for peace of mind you may as well change it. Must say they are built better with metal impellers inside rather then plastic ones I had on the Water pump of my old Golf Vr6...
  6. ...I too unfortunately have a 2001 "Y" Plate IS 200 SE - registered on March 1st! - So the new tax increases apply to my car. I agree its absolutely terrible the way the price of road fund licence has increased, and although I have thought about trading mine in for something else, it hardly seems worth it as I'm really not going to gain very much back. Over the last two years of ownership, aside from maintenance items its been really reliable and I guess I have saved potentially on additional repair bills I guess the way I see it is an extra £200 across 12 months, I could make savings on maybe not driving to certain destinations and make savings on other costs such as shopping around for a better insurance quotes... The other thing that I was thinking about is surely there must be cars out there that are around £400 on a 2001, that are in the higher tax band - which must mean that the cost of tax equates to the same cost of the vehicle -surely that's economically not viable?? A sensible solution should be to apply to take in to consideration the value of the car in its road fund licence calculation.... Enough of me ranting (apologies!!)
  7. Hi There, I have been looking in to this too, as far as I can tell there are around 3 different options aside from the original grill... You can, as all have suggested go for the Sport Grill - which does look really - good, or go for the Limited Edition two-Bar type grille, which I think would go great on a Black car or go for the Altezza Grill, which is fairly steep and quite Americana aka very Shiney/Shiney lol! - Hope this helps... Also - there is the cheaper grills that are available on E-Bay.com - but these are plasticy and seem quite naff build quality...
  8. Hi Mate, Thanks - I got them from E-Bay... Slightly different look then the IS 200 LE Wheels...
  9. Refurbed GS300 Ten-spoke Whees... Me thinks it need a little lowering tho'....
  10. Actually in all fairness - I will change them - but probably for the later smoked set... Thanks for all the replies...
  11. I think the reflector are built in to the lamp - there just above clear section... I asked the seller whether they had any pictures of the lamps installed - and he did'nt... Really not sure about them know...
  12. Intresting point - will take up with seller - me thinks they will probably be sealed units...
  13. I Though that too - but I was thinking maybe somthing different - and feshen up the tailgate... Still in two minds at the mo...gonna see what the general consensus here is before I make a calll...
  14. Hi Mate..are the replicas?...If there the real deal they are cheap!...and look in fantastic condition!...New in fact. Would say - if they don't have a centre caps there around £17 each from Lexus Directly - alternatley I mangaged to source a set of used one from ebay.com for £20 inc p&p...
