  1. I bought this LS400 on Tuesday and gave £3k for it. I am in Bristol!

It was priced high to allow for a possible part exchange, but I paid cash. Only issues are Sat Nav doesn't work but I have sourced a replacement unit so should soon be mended, and steering goes in and out but not up and dow, although it does make a noise. Paint is excellent. Wheels need refubishment as lacquer has lifted on the rims, and tyres will need replacing soon.

Well done that man & welcome.

  2. Hi, i`ve just joined the forum, and i`m sorry if I`ve broken any rules, as I don`t yet own a Lexus, but I`am in the market for an LS400, what I can`t yet decide is (and this is were i need some advice) would it be best to buy something like the car for sale here, which looks a lovely example or something under a grand as a winter runabout and hope that it gets me to the summer or beyond, I`am currently driving a BMW 330ci which i paid £2900 for 18 months ago and spent a further £2000 pounds on in January, and since then have done another 1500 miles in and with the amount of problems I`ve had since I would probably have to spend the same again soon which I`am not prepared to do, as the car is probably worth £700, any advice from you chaps with experience of the LS would be most appreciated. apologies to the op if I`m off topic, although this may be a car i could be interested in.

If you can afford to buy this car it is a superb buy, it is a late example & had a lot of expensive work carried out. I would if I didn't have my mint example.

  3. Thanks for the replies - I'd be looking at the VFR from 2005 onwards, so I am assuming that is the VTEC version? and also Fazer from around the same date. A friend of mine owned a Fazer 600 and said it was a brilliant bike, although he ended up trashing it!

A friend of mine - his dad owns an old 'Thunderace' sports bike dating from around the mid-late nineties and he mentioned something about the 'Thundercat' being a decent buy if you can find a good one, although I imagine as these bikes are fairly old I'd most likely rule them out in terms of everyday reliability and the ease of buying parts etc. Plus as they are sports machines?, I'd more than likely rule them out.

What make is the Hornet Mark?

    Cheers!

Hi the Hornet is Honda. The vtec vfr 800 is very comfy easy to ride handles well & goes like stink if you wind it up. The thunderace was a good bike the R1 took over from it. If you are looking at bigger cc bikes a honda blackbird or a kawasaki ZZR 1200 (brutal fast mind) I sold my zzr1200 before I lost my licence on it & went for a old honda cbr 600 to replace it, Plenty fast enough for me & it just took me on a 2800 mile trip to Spain & south of France & back no problems.

  4. I will post a couple more pics of mine, notice the coil put in the copper pipe this is at both ends (if there is a side impact crash the pipe will stretch rather than break) the pipe is run next to the brake lines. The ecu is next to the Battery, the filler is neat & vented to air. A 94 litre tank in the spare wheel well gives me 350 miles on the run. Oh & hana injectors with the nozzles next to the petrol injector nozzles( not in the plenum) equal pipe lengths also.

  5. Really sore buttocks after about 30-45 minutes driving. Anyone else got this problem? I've checked with main dealer, who is checking out to see if there is a known problem. There is in the USA, where many 460s/600s have been addressed via a TSIB (USA market). Don't know if there is an equivalent RH drive / UK market TSIB.

    Any help would be appreciated.

As a temp fix buy an airhawk seat cushion, I have one for my motorcycle & have done 13 hour stints on it (no sore bum).

  6. I'm familiar with the name, as a member of the lpg forum.

He certainly seems to get a good rep on there.

The LPG trade has been a bit of a mystery to me ever since the early eighties, when I first had dealings with this "cinderella" industry.

As somebody else asked on another thread, you do wonder why nobody has ever taken it by the scruff of the neck, and made a proper go of it.

I think there is a limit to how many people would convert to lpg,

Also there are probably a lot that would convert but can't due to longer manufacturers warranties .

You also need to trust that your car is going to last long enough to pay back.

Some people are sceptics. (put off by the horror stories).

Think of this if everyone converted to lpg Petrol would then be the bye product & the price of lpg would go through the roof.

Looking forward to seeing the pics of your install, Mark

  7. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C402575

On a side note this has been around for the last couple of months, I've seen it on eBay,trader, gumtree and now car and classic, Not to sure what to think of it as it hasn't sold. I emailed the seller and he replied with this.

    hi

There are no mechanical or electrical faults with the car - the aircon

does work - it was bought to replace my other 430 but due to having to

spend money on my original 430 i have decided to sell this one and

whilst its been parked up it has been scratched by kids playing around

    it.

Pictures can be taken and emailed but in my opinion you need to view the

car to see the extent of the paint work damage - there are scratches

and scuffs all over randomly on the doors and bonnet - some will polish

out - some have cut the paint - perhaps this is whats putting buyers off

Hi I bought my 430 04 plate in January for £3500 with 94k on it the only thing it needed was a sensor sorting out, I went back to a 400 after 5 weeks ( just my preference) The 430 is a fantastic car but too many toys for me & the build quality isn't quite the same as the 400.

With the one you are looking at figure on £2500 for a proper re spray ( not a cheap car).
