  1. Dear All

I recently had to look a bit of a fool at the old petrol pump, went for the release catch and went round to find .....Flap still shut. tight ...So off to dealer with still enough fuel, for mechanics to fix

Question: Can you if the need must get at this catch release from inside the boot???? Havent tried yet.

    happy new year all.

  2. Steve - reply

You an get sunroof trim fixed under warranty - did mine

And the door noise is the rubber seal again warranty job or just lub it and that seems to work for a while.

    Hope this helps

    Hi all!

Another new member here! I took delivery of my used IS 200 Sport (Oct 01) in Platinum Ice, on 9th August, done around 5000 miles and love it!

    Only a couple of questions...

Does anyone find they get a whistle from the upper rear corner of the drivers window at speeds over 90 mph (private roads of course!)??

Does anyone else find that the trim on the forward end of the sunroof is quite noisy when driving on bumpy roads??

    Cheers guys!

    Steve

  3. Well it seems there is many things to think about in securing the car.

We must remember that all the Lexus car's all models have the 100% security rating from all recognised top security companies so they might smash a window but this will set off alarms??? and then the deadlocks - then the immobiliser which they say couldnt be smashed even after 5mins ...It looks like the only ways to steal our cars - car jacking - letterboxing and the back of a low loader from the drive or car park ???

    B)

Sorry to hear about the rest of everyones issues.

  4. When mine went had to wait 3 weeks for replacement the silence from having no stereo was deafing.

i ended up complaining to Lexus Gb and magically the unit appeared.

Also found out a very important lesson about standard warranty and extended warranty.

1: Standard - direct replacement on any part like for like, has to be resolved within days.

2: Extended - parts go away for repair to external suppliers thus a wait upon wait.

So if you within the first 3 yrs, you should be well looked after but that mmmmm depends how loud you shout!!!!!

  5. Hi

Ive found if you turn the nozzle round through 180 degrees every pump every station no problems and the looks you get from other so called luxury car owners and general car owners is great you make them think, you have something special and its something they dont have.

The joys of being a Lexus owner.!!!

Or they might be thinking weird o!! still cant please all the people all the time.

  6. Hi

I had this its the rubber worn or badly fitted (door might have dropped). lexus brighton replaced after resolving first by wiping with a silicon mixture... seemed to work for months, no idea what it was but it worked, ask no questions, seemed to a common fault?

Door adjustments are behind front wing, body shop visit.

    Hope this helps

    £15,450. at : http://www.seaviewcars.co.uk/frame_stocklist.htm

not main dealer but shows how hold value and you get more from a dealer. remember dealers must sell car as good day it was new. mine was, mine is a 99 but is as good as 03.

  8. My car was in for new sunroof surround as rattling and became to much, so was being replaced while i was at the open day. otherwise my baby would have been there, although the guys washing the cars with there dirty rags did put me off and i was glad it was at garage,

I felt that the v6 was ok it was the tinny sound on the off road section in the rear that put me off. maybe a rx430 to compete against the x5 4.4. certainly got the looks. and crap paint as usual. B)

  9. Hi all.

Just attended at personel invitation to the latest Lexus open day at Firle Palace in East Sussex.

superb day 34 degrees and what fun.

Managed 1/2hr road test followed by 1/2hr offroad section of the new RX300. and for a v6 smooth and drives like a car on the road, but off road sounds very tinny in rear and centre console well nice but dont look at it while your driving(lets say thats what the big tyres are for when you hit the kerbs)

Next had to come the v8 4.3 SC430. wow wow wow, lottery win and i think oh yes ..the 0-60 can be done in less then 6secs...better then book and on an auto as well.

Well i also had to see what a brand new IS200 felt like compared to my 4yr old one.I would have to say all one colour interior feels very BMW / Audi, why no two tone any more and you cant hear that no rumble from straight six, deadened, suspension seems softened, and the piping around seat's whats this all about,i was not impressed, i asked the guys why the changes to an already perfect model, he said these changes have come about in an effort to reduce retail price.

And Secondly All models PAINT CHIPS Wheels RUST. think its a feature??

Other then this a great day and if you get invited then go, good food and drink.and a very nice setting, perfect to replace in .Thanks Lexus. :winky:
