yup, i would change everything at around 60k apart from the cambelt (100k).
check & replace it if required.
once you have got to the cambelt is it not worth just changing it anyway? or is it less of a hassle to get to than on a 200?

My IS300 is a 2002, with just under 57k on it, and was serviced May last year at 51k
the belt change on the 200 was revised from 10 yrs/100k to 6 years 60k, but I believe the 300 wasn't revised, so since its coming upto 60k and 9 years, should I have them done? also is it spark plug time now too?

You can split the existing headlights and spray them to get the dark look - or buy them from Toyota at a cost of about £180 a side I think...
Heater rings are hard to come by, though there is a guy on eBay who is sometimes selling them...
Yeah I saw a few posts about how to split them and might give it a try one weekend... brand new I was quoted around £280 for a pair.
No luck on the heater rings though.
yeh £180 a side is for HIDs, gonna get a set of darker ones for my 300, after i've renewed my insurance, had a service and done all the brakes, your pedals look very clean too, mine are quite grubby :(

the other car does have to be insured unless the driver has a traders policy, Adrian flux told me (twice on seperate occasions) that I could drive an uninsured car as I was covered 3rd party on other cars with owners consent, but I was later told by others (inc adrian flux) the other car must have a policy in the owners name
your earlier theory of being insured fully comp on a banger with allowance to drive the lex with the owners permission would cover you as long as the owner of the lex isn't you, but to drive the lex all the time with the owners permission may be bending the rules a little, can anyone correct me if i'm wrong?

and another one :D

if, by safety, you mean non-interference, no it isn't, sorry
-
I find its nearly always just a brake light out
-
some is200's from 2005ish had darker headlights as standard, they are available from the dealers at about £115 each side
-
those in the first pic are 16s aren't they? i've been tryin to get a set of those for winter
-
in a word, yes
seems a reasonable price from your description

I like those wheels, not seen them before, I had a blue 2008 IS250 as a curtesy car when my 200 had a repair done and I really liked it

depends on how lucky you are
my first lex stereo was iffy, as mentioned by others, it was with certain copied discs, I stuck a lens cleaner in and that finished mine off so I changed it, paid £100 (inc post) for another and swapped it over and it was still workin when I traded the car in 3 years later
and current car i've had for over a year and i've no reason to think the stereo has ever been changed by the previous owner and it still works absolutely fine

the cd changers are known for goin faulty, err3 or similar is sometimes displayed, most people just look for another stereo on eBay of the same model (theres a couple of variants depending on the year of the car and a 5 digit number on the front of the player near the cassette deck is the model number you need (13903 or 13906 etc) and simply swap it over, I know one of the members (may not be on here anymore) has opened theirs up and figured out a fix, but for me it was easier to replace my old one with one off eBay and sell my faulty one for spares

I dunno about any of the speakers bein different but the amp isn't there in the S
-
i's still give £900 for the Altezza and re-sell for £1200, quick easy money, makes fuelling your future IS easier too
-
theres a seller that has loads on eBay and I needed some but got my measurements wrong, and when I told them what wheels I had they were really helpful and know their stuff, altho I can't remember who exactly it was, just message any of the traders who have lots for sale on eBay, and one of them will be able to help
-
there was a green IS breaking on eBay yesterday with the kit, worth checkin
-
also... the valve inners only screw in, it may just be slightly undone
-
i've been assured from my local dealer that altho the 200 had revised service schedule to change belt at 60k instead of 100k, the belt on the 300 still only needs changing at 100k
altho i've always thought it witchcraft that a belt can go round pulleys so many times over 10 years and 100k miles before changing, so I may have mine done at 60
-
idle control valve could need attention, altho i'm by no means a mechanic, and don't even know if all cars have them lol, but i've heard the term idle control valve, and logic dictates that this is related to the control of idle speed?

Hi all, just want to know if anyones is200 has the auto unlocking function, as per users manual ? cheers
Hi yes mine does, also had it on my Xedos 6,locks after 30 seconds if none of the doors are opened when you unlock the car.
you are aware that what you say and the original question are completely opposite? lock and unlock are 2 different actions :)
-
steer clear of those, heard a rumour they are damaged,
-
can you still get ahold of the satin rear and front lights? if so how much ?
thanks in advance
Craig
I can do the headlights for £110.66 each + vat.
Andy
Can you accidentally do the IS300 HID ones at this price?

reversing cameras only work on the car they are attached to, not the other careless drivers that are still on the roads, the group also relates to the value of the cars replacement parts, also theres actually 50 groups now as opposed to 20, but it seems everyone still goes by the older groups
I'm Sure This Will Have Been Asked Before, But....

to be honest it depends what parts you need to replace, things like headlights may be more expensive but still available from the dealers
