  1. Well it's back..... Have noticed town driving economy has gone from 32 to 37 mpg. This is a sport model. I hope its fixed for good, cause looking at this car makes me remember why I picked this one in the first place.
  2. Other differences in the UK included: Lux has leather, sport doesn't. (How I wish it did). Sport has a different gear box with more sporty ratios. The reason I went with the sport.
  3. Not quite sure own vs lease has to do with this thread... Glad to hear that your experience was good, and I am sure that there are a few more like you who had a good experience. I have no brand loyalty to any product - I always go for 'best of breed', I do not respect a badge but each product I judge on its own merit. I was using this forum to determine if the 5th injector problem was a known fault and if so how long others were waiting for parts. It appears it is. Lexus are obviously a respected brand by others - witness the news on the bbc news site yesterday about the what car reports. But in my opinion, and the words of Lexus GB, there is a known fault on the IS220d. Why have they not issues a recall on this? (I guess the clip in Fight Club was right). There are many vehicles are various dealers awaiting a fix. Mine has taken just under a month. Its a problem that all IS220d owners/users should be wary of and should ask for a fix at their local dealer as soon as is convinient. Lexus GB are not at the moment pro-actively fixing the issue so one day you, your partner, and your kids may be stranded goodness knows were and goodness knows what time for who knows how long whilst you await the tow truck.
  4. If your dealer is able to get parts for you, can you let us know? I can then use that when I go back to Lexus GB yet again.
  5. I hear the guy who makes the part is on holiday for the month, and no one else knows how to make it :-) I thought if it was three attempts to fix you could reject the car? I am now driving around in one of germany's finest. The fuel consumption and kick puts the lexus to shame. at least Lexus has helped me to decide what I shall pick for my next company car. This is a very prolonged test drive. If I get any updates I will post them here. Knowing that one person has received parts should allow us to put pressure and get the parts for others. But from another post it sounds like some other dealers are able to lay there hands on the parts a lot quicker, and for those whose car's are not of the road. Go figure.
  6. Who is your dealer, because I could do with moving my car to them. My car has been of the road for nearly a month now awaiting these parts. My dealer has so far given me two delivery dates and each one has been and gone. I find it incredible that one lexus dealer can get the parts so quick whilst another fails miserably every time.
  7. Would i recommend lexus? I can only say that from now until whenever I will tell everyone who is thinking of this brand to avoid it. Luckily I am on a lease and I know that my next car will not be a Lexus. I cannot believe the quality of this vehicle. I cannot believe that there is a known fault with this car and that the faulty part is not readily available. I have already gotten through 6 company cars, and imagine that number will easily be 4* that during my working life. Lexus has lost a customer and potential future customers. What I do know is that I wished I had stuck with my previous company car brand.
  8. I should have also asked does anyone think Lexus GB will offer any form of compensation. Should I ask? After all I am paying for a 30k car whilst pootling around in the most basic hire car.
  9. my is220d failed a few weeks back with 5th injector faults. It's not an uncommon problem as at the time there were 6 others in the dealers with the same problem. I was told parts in on the 20th june fixed by the weekend. Looks like i may be in for a little more waiting as now I have been told that the parts are on back order till mid July. I am really disappointed in Lexus. Having purchased a 30k car, I had the pleasure of driving it for 3 months before it developed the fault. So 3 months on the road, 1 month off. If anyone asks if I would recommend Lexus the answer will be a very strong no. If anyone else is in the same situation what story are Lexus telling you? Are these parts being made from unicorn droppings? All the cars I have owned this car has been of the road longer than the rest put togther - and thats a big list with a lot of brands, some of which don't try and sell themselves on luxury. I think that the pursuit of excellence is very apt, because they obviously realise they are not there yet.
  10. how the car behaves with this type of problem? vsc warning and car goes into safe mode.
  11. well mine packed up today. (07 sport) parts due to arrive on 20th june. was told that the part os being revised (yeah right). there are 7 others at the dealers with the same problem. just out of interest - what replacement car have people received of lexus whilst theirs are off the road.
  12. with a little under 3 months and 5k miles under its belt my is220d is now of the road. Apparently we have a fifth injector failure and catalyst problem. This is a 07 model so it looks like te age old problem is still there. The dealer says parts wont arrive until June 20th. The best of it is that there are 6 other cars at the dealer with the same fault. Not bad for a 30K car.
  13. sport here, in beige. seats are wearing ok. i too would have preferred leather. i can't understand why its not an option on the sport either. as i have said on another thread, the sport seat material seems to generate static. 9/10 when getting out of the car you will get a shock. or is this just me?>
  14. got to the car this morning to find the alloy wheels 'clean' around the dustcap area. first thought was someone has been trying to get the dust cap covers off. so a big thanks to the person who recommended the anti theft dust cap covers (the ones that spin and spin and spin). would love to have seen the morons faces as they were trying. looks like they had a go at all wheels before giving up.
  15. my central locking had failed so i have been using manual locking for a while. central locking is now fixed so i want to put the keyhole cover back on the door. however it has me flumaxed. anyone know the magic touch for getting these things back on?
  16. is220d sport here, cant compain about the drive at all. the only annoyance i have is the seat material, i cant understand why they cant have leather in the sport. i have no idea what options are on the sport that make it as expensive as the SEL with leather... The material can be a bit 'shocking'. my other half complains that every time she gets out of the car she gets a static shock. I get them a lot too.
  17. no sunroof, but the moonroof. why its called that who knows. but i was thinking it could be this that has lost me a few inches. pain, caise if i could choose again i would ditch it purely for the head room
  18. Anyone else find that headroom is a bit on the low side? I am not super tall - about 5-11 - yet find my head constantly hitting the roof. I think I have lowered the seat as far as it can go, yet still find my noggin' scraping the roof. Am I the only one who has this?
  19. I just can't get my head around that manual for the reverse parking using the multimedia thing. Firstly the different modes confuse me. Why is the parallel parking mode icon shown by using an icon that looks like an overhead of a normal parking space (the kind you easily drive into in a supermarket). Yet the parking icon for reverse parking is shown using cars that look like parallel parking. Is this right or is there an error in the manual? Anyone have any tips on using it?
  20. Hi all, first post. new to lexus and love the car - is220d sport. However.... I just can't get a razr phone to work properly with the multimedia. I get problems that others have reported. That whlist the phone pairs and operates fine after restarting the car the phone will not automatically pair. I have searched all over the web and this forum and have found some people say a razr works and others say it won't. And I have looked at the lexus (US) website and it says a razr works fine. So who has had a rzr working fine and who hasn't? If you have one that works fine - what is the software version. Mine begins with a 4 which makes it a razr v3R. I am thinking the R is the important bit. I have tried setting bluetooth power to on. Setting the pairing to automatic. I have also toggled the car settings available on the phone... If anyone else is having trouble pairing - whats the quicket way you have found to getting the two paired again. Having to reregister the phone everytime I get in the car is a pain. Thanks all.
