  1. Hi Everyone I've only been here a couple of days but the amount of questions im asking you are wishing I would just go away as quick :) Well I am still waiting for the plates....I didn't realise I didn't have the V5/V5c for my current car I could have been sure I had but after going through every bit of paperwork it isn't there, SHOCK HORROR! So I am waiting for another one which is delaying the process even further. But back on to the subject in hand.... I would like to get the private plates make for the Lexus so once I get the car I can put them straight on without having to worry. But I have a couple of questions: 1) What size is the rear plate on the IS? It seems bigger than a standard plate...am I right? 2) Is it illegal to have these on the car...... as I was told on The 75 & ZT Owner's Club forum that it was...but I wanted your opinion because on here I noticed somebody elses car with them on in the image gallery. Hope somebody can answer my questions. Regards Gary
  2. Thanks for the info.....now this is going to sound REALLY, REALLY stupid so sorry but...... How do the automatic lights work? I mean like will I be driving alone and once it gets dark they literally just come on and I don't need to do anything?? Can you tell.....never had a car with automatic lights....did once drive a Ford Focus Ghia with them on but never drove it in the dark....only had it as a hire car for about a week. Regards Gary
  3. LOL No most of the time I do pay attention and look in depth into the car but the weather just didn't permit it....it started to rain etc.... didn't want to get the inside of this lovely car wet! But after reading reviews on the net etc.... I have basically everything I need to know. One question I read somewhere (can't remember now i've read so many good reviews) that it has automatic headlights is this correct? Regards Gary
  4. Hi I am new so im sorry if I have missed something, but could somebody please tell me what the full spec is of the Lexus IS200 and what comes with the car in range of 'gadgets/gizmos' e.g. rain sensor etc.... When I test drove the car that is literally all I done test drove it, it wasn't a very nice car so didn't have time to have a look at what sort of features it had. I am still wating for the DVLA to transfer the plates then it is all mine....I CANT WAIT!! Excuse the caps but im looking forward to it :). Regards Gary
  5. Thanks everybody for the warm welcome and helpful info regarding the plate transfers....I will just leave it in the hands of the garage and the helpful salesman to sort it all out for me...considering the DVLA are feeling nice who knows it could be quicker than two weeks but I do find that hard to believe. Regards Tom
  6. Thanks for the info gord but I am trading the rover with the lexus...so its just upto the DVLA....who knows they might not be to busy and might get it done ASAP but then there isn't much chance of that is there. Regards Gary
  7. Hi All If you have read my 'Hi everyone' thread link: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=40661 Then you will know that I was asking questions regarding private registration transfers....well after endless calls between Norwich Union & SMC garage I have finally managed to get insurance for the Lexus (well free 7 day drive away insurance) I have been told by SMC that it will take up to at least TWO WEEKS....I was told it is now up to the DVLA. I am hoping that they will be in a nice good, fast mood this week! Anybody have any advice about private registration transfers?? Or anything on the Lexus IS200 i am buying? Pics following soon...... Regards Gary
  8. I found this great club after reading reviews on the Lexus IS200 and on one of them there was a mention of this club....so a quick google soon found it. Regards Gary
  9. Thanks gord for the info. I spoke to the garage earlier and they told me that if I get the car with the current plates it will take a week to go...for the finance etc... but if I use my private plates then it will take A MONTH!!! Shall I just deal with the private plate transfer myself? Regards Gary Hi and welcome to loc as gord said if you go to your local dvla office you can get it done there and then I cant understand why the garage ppl telling u its going to b a month... So how do I go about it? I have never dealt with it myself....do I just take down V5 document to DVLA office and say I want to transfer plate from my current car (Rover 75) to the Lexus?? What happens about the private plates on the rover 75 at the moment? Do I just leave the garage to deal with that? Basically im really stupid at things like this...could somebody guide me step by step? I really would be glad of this. Regards Gary
  10. Thanks gord for the info. I spoke to the garage earlier and they told me that if I get the car with the current plates it will take a week to go...for the finance etc... but if I use my private plates then it will take A MONTH!!! Shall I just deal with the private plate transfer myself? Regards Gary Think I will reword the above...so hopefully I can get an answer...... I spoke to the garage yesterday over the phone and was told if I buy the Lexus with its current plates on it wilil take a week for me to be able to drive it away from the forecourt, however if I want to buy the Lexus with my private plates on it....it will take up to A MONTH!!! However gord says it will take a day....I would have agreed with gord but does anybody have a true answer? Should I just buy the lexus with its current plates and then transfer private plates myself? Regards Gary

  12. Thanks, thats good to hear! Yeah im sure it will be :) I hope so anyway! I will miss my Rover 75....the interior is slightly more welcoming than that of the Lexus...but it might just be because I need to get used to a dark interior....?? Yep thanks, I am ringing the garage tomorrow to confirm that I would like to buy it and see where it goes from there....if all goes well should have it by the end of the week...its all up to the DVLA as I need the private plate changed and the Lexus needs to be taxed, so that will be fun...does anybody have an idea of how long it will take for a private plate transfer? Yep sure will get some pics when I get her...can't wait to take her out by myself and just let her go...sort of thing! And ok thanks the info about the cam belt change. I have read 'some' reviews that say that the IS200 is underpowered when pulling away is this true? Regards Gary
  13. Hi Thanks javadude for the info. You all seem a nice friendly lot on here :). I think I will enjoy my time on here and my time owning a Lexus...be good once its actually mine and I can take it where I want! Yesterday I could only take it for a short drive, even though it was a nice mix of country & town so it did show off to be all of its skill! Regards Tom
  14. Hi Thank you for the welcome Jammy. I haven't got the car yet but after the test drive yesterday it does half go! Is there anything I should be aware? When is the next service due? And cambelt/s? Regards Gary
