  1. I'm taking the leap and going for gas!

Petrol prices have just become ridiculous and I was about to sell my baby and go for a diesel :tomato:

Then I heard about gas and the money I'll save on running will pay for the conversion in 16 months! (Lol. Just read that back and I sound like a cheesy tv commercial! )

Just thought I'd post on here to see if any of you guys have done it, or any questions you think I should ask the garage before I get it done. :D

    HI,

Been running mine on lpg for about 2 years now and things to look out for or ask the installer is:-

    1. what type and make is the kit (best use the Italian makes and insist on a multipoint system – no loss of power).

    2. insist on having Flash Lube installed (very easy and cheap to do ( you can pick one of fleebay for around £80 inc. flashlube bottle)

    3. make sure you can have it checked out and diagnostics read (your engine light will start to flash – once you have it read you will now what’s at fault and how to rectify the problem) in my case its just saying fuel mixure to leane or rich, which is to do with the gas.

    4. I recommend a spare wheel tank (it sits in your spare wheel well) and just keep the spare wheel in the boot (takes up less space than a cylinder tanks and more capacity).

Good luck and hope you will keep on Lexing (its fast becoming clear that going gas is the easiest way to keep running the lexus) :winky: if you have any questions just ask. :)

    Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

I am thinking of going with these guys - http://www.gaspoweruk.co.uk/

It is a little dearer than other places but they are only 10 mins from where I work so servicing and any problems can be sorted easily.

He is going to put a BRC phase sequential system on. I asked about the flashlube and he said he'd throw it in for me :winky: We are going for the spare wheel tank.

He said that the new systems don't have the same problems with the ECUs as in older systems so the point 3 you made is sorted now.

Any thing else I should know? I'm planing to book her in so any of you guys thinking about it can have a look when I bring her to JAE! :D

  3. Thank you gents.

I still have the badge from the original grille, I'm just loathed to rip it off incase we ever want to swap back again. Maybe I should try one of the cheepies. The snob in me doesn't want a plastic badge tho

I know. If that's the case I've gotta get the real deal, just would be good if there was a middle option. Hehe, I don't want much... anyone got me the moon on a stick yet?? :winky:

  4. I would really appreciate a low down of what's going on when I get there. Technically I'm another virgin, although I did buy tickets last time! Just got a bit wet on the way and never actually made it! Lol!

Also wanna know who is who! I like the idea of badges for the cars... would we look a bit sad in t-shirts? :tomato:

  5. we discussed this years ago and we would use the special LOC sign to acknowledge another club member... Yeah the sign was to pull the "L" sign with your finger and thumb on your forehead... but then realised it would be calling each other "Losers" so it was dropped :D:D

    Hahahaha

Gotta love it. How about just holding up the fingers without putting it on yr forehead?? Hehe. Thanks for the giggle.

I'd like it if somebody waved at me! :) x

  6. I have the same grille. Not sure about the paint on the surround, but in terms of the mesh part, I can suggest something.

I basically take the mesh out if chips are bad, spray a few coats of Matt Black paint (from Halfrauds), and then a couple of light coats of laquer. Looks nice again.

Ooh, plus I debadged it too the first time I did it. Bloke came up to me in the car wash and told me I had a nice Merc! lol

Thanks for the tip. I will get hubby onto it straight away! hehehe. Oh, wait, he's got to finish decorating the living room first! Lol.

Ours is currently awaiting a badge... hope nobody thinks it's a merc! Eeek!

  7. Did you apply a coat of lacquer to the paint that you sprayed onto the grille?

This will bring out the 'shine' in the paint and go some way to protecting the grille from stone chips.

Unfortunately for a GS300 there is no real cure for paint chips in the front bonnet grille/headlight area.

Hiya, no we didn;t put an extra lacquer on cause the paint was supposed to include the lacquer already so was unsure about adding extra. The bad thing with this is not just stone chips, the paint seems to just be coming off all over the crisscross grille part. The surround is fine. Also thnks for pointing out theat grille is spelled with an 'e'. I knew it didn;t look right! haha

  8. Well after our experience last year when we never even got to see you guys :crybaby: we are def up for JAE this year :hehe: !

At least we don't have to go via Gloucestershire this time! LoL  !

Anyone coming up fro the south west??
