  1. ...Well its done..stereo in, screen in...and they used the bypass cable that i provided (which everyone on here swears by..), but at a cost...£220 including a pair of pioneer 380w 6x9 for the rear (£80) and i had to walk an hr to work...but at least the job is done, but now when i get enough cash im going to upgrade the front speakers and tweeters and an amp. I've messed about with it a bit and found that the front ones start to distort after a certain volume as expected compared with the rear... so no doubt this will be on going lol

I swear my car is clean when i took that yet it looks dusty!?!? lol

Anyway..looks like i might sell the bits left over...lexus amp, 6cd player, rear speakers and a iso cable all in perfect condition ;)

  2. Story so far.....garage bloke couldn't do it as he says that the connection isn't right etc etc..on the plus side hes taken the console out and didn't charge me anything for it. Found an audio specialist in canterbury thats worked on a few is200s, told them about what i have, facia, bypass lead (iso cable on the way if its needed at all!) and they said its fine, but last time they did it to an is200 they changed the rear speakers (something to do with the lexus rear speakers have built in amps in the speakers..something along them lines) from stock to an aftermarket one..which requires rewiring. they haven't said anything about the front ones yet so i asume they are fine, so im expecting a bill of around £400 for 2 6x9 rear speakers, installment of headunit, 7" screen, labour+VAT. So expensive to do something that most cars only charge £50-£80 for.

    ..the story continues..

  3. Oh dear, cars at garage to fit the stereo, but tech told me im missing one cable...think it was mentioned before an iso cable? i thought the one i got that bypasses the amp is the iso cable..doh, now i need one asap..does anyone know where i can get one from?....do Halfords sell it?? lol...

just looked in fleabay..is this the right one?

but it says non amp system...ive got is200 (99) and there is an amp next to the glove department....

  4. Personally i prefer "stealth" look, whereby the car is quite plain in appearance, anything loud will create an aura of pikeyness.

I think the car thieves will be very disappointed if they steal your car and find out that those parts advertised on the front door isn't installed.

  5. Right, ive bought the facia, bypass lead, headunit and a seperate 7" screen, but the problem is finding someone to fit it, as i don't think i would be able to do it myself (can't find the post that contains images showing how to take apart the center console/dash, be nice if someone can find it for me to look at). Lexus won't do it cos its not their product and theres no garage here thats fitted a headunit to a lexus before (or if they have i don't see them using google/yellow pages). Can someone recommend a trust worthy in car audio specialist near Canterbury?

  6. Thanks for the replies people...

Yeah, ive let it "prime" up, all the lights on the dash goes off before i turn the key to start. When it doesn't start first time, it sounds normal, then i turn again (never starts second time, no matter how long i leave the starter motor turning) and starts third time, no stuttering etc, all normal. Ive even turn the key so it starts the starter motor for no longer than 0.5 seconds the second time and third time it starts lol.

And yes i thought about it being the immobilliser Parthiban, as its always the same. It points to something electronic. But like Sang says just let it be (maybe thats my own cars unique personality lol), just be nice to know what it is maybe so i can get it sorted.

  7. Has anyone gone and got their orginal is200 17" alloys in white? Im thinking about doing this, is this wise? has any of you done this. I phoned about and it be @£55 a wheel to be sprayed (tyres off, been referbuished). If you have white wheels on a platium ice lexus, post it up so i can get a just of it, even better if they are the originals but been sprayed white! Hell just post ur lexus if you have white wheels lol

  8. Got a weird problem with my '99 is 200. Every now and again, at random times of the month (average 4 times a month) it takes 3 turns to start, never 2 or 4 always 3 when it doesn start first time round. This happens throughout all seasons, weather regardless, even when the car has been driven 20 minutes and left for 2 hrs, full take of fuel, half tank of fuel...

Whenever it doesn't start the first time, Ive tried....

...taking the key out leaving it for a bit

...taking the key out and inserting the other way round

...make sure everything is off (lights, phone charger, stereo etc)

...have the lexus key seperate from all other keys

    ...replaced Battery in key

    ...scratching my head

But nothing works, always the third time it starts. My lexus key only has one other key attached to it, i know in the manual it says not to attach any keys with it, but i can't see why that would cause the problem and as stated above ive seperated it before, but makes no difference. So has any of you had this problem before and what causes it (and maybe cost to fix). Tried explaning to my local lexus dealer, but they don't know nothing like this and its not something i can proof to them at the garage. Im almost scared to start my car at my work place with people in the car park as its a lexus and it doesn't start is most embrassing lol, and its random like jack in the box waiting to happen..

Not sure if this could be a reason, when i fill up my car and drive it like normal until near empty, i go to fill up and theres a huge suction that lasts like 2 seconds, is this normal? maybe the car is struggling to get fuel into the cyclinders? Any ideas?

  9. Im a newbie so don't flame me lol...need some help with lexus is200 (99) car stereos. Ive already bought a facia for my lexus so i can fit an after market stereo, but i don't really know too much of the ins and outs of the electrics (infact i know nothing lol), but im after something like this..

No doubt, if i do decide to get this then the incar 6CD changer will no longer be needed right?

Would something like this would work in my car before i decide to buy it, and also what should i look out for and what not to get. Be nice to know what all you lot have instead of the default stereo, this way i know it will work in my car too. Reason im replacing the default one is cos i really want to be able to play mp3s off CD, may even find a stereo that plays mp3s on dvd (giga dvd i think its called), maybe even usb, ipod support. So yeah any help or advice would be cool!

    TIA!
