  1. 'Always advisable to go for a higher RON number'? On what do you base this pearl of wisdom? As far as I'm aware, the RON number relates to the quality of the fuel. The higher the number, the faster the burn rate-although I am no expert, but I do read my handbook. You really need to have basic knowledge of what you're putting in your tank.
  2. just to add to fuel debate: I have been reliably informed that Sainsbury's fuel is supplied by Shell, so should be same grades. I use their higher octane unleaded ("Super Unleaded") which has proved to be pretty good, and a bit cheaper than BP or Shell. It's always advisable to go for a higher RON number (reseach octane number), i.e. 97
  3. Had another thought on this one: Over-inflated tires will exagerrate pull to one side. Check your tire inflation is correct.
  4. I have a 2 week-old IS250 SE-L, and have noticed an odd tapping noise which is coming from the upper-offside engine bay area (in front of windscreen). I suspect it is a pump of some sort but it is a noise I have not heard on any engine previously. Lexus Cambridge say it is normal but it is quite loud. When the engine is gently revved, this noise changes in its frequency which at tick-over is regular. Has anyone had or is getting this noise? Thanks in advance.
  5. Most modern cars are camber sensitive Here is something you can do to check: Get yourself onto a flat road with as little camber as possible (e.g. large car park), set your steering straight, accellerate hard, vehicle should accellerate in a straight line without holding it in a straight line. If all is well, try braking, again keeping the steering wheel straight, gently hold both sides of the steering wheel. Car should break in a dead straight line. If not on either of these, there may be a problem (possibly associated with the brakes). Hope this helps.
