Just one thought (I know you mentioned Tiger seal) did you change any rear light bulbs before the leak started? I once developed a boot leak on my 2004 model RX300 after replacing a rear light bulb. I hadn't got one of the the seals seated correctly on a rear light cluster. The seal was a circular grommet type one in the bodywork where part of the plastic light cluster actually went through the body work. Re-seated it and hey presto leak solved. I found Capt Trolleys has worked for me, but you are right about having to be careful with it. It really can make a mess if you have over spill and don't clean it off. I found trying to clean it after its dried not really an option with the caravan may be different on car paint but I wouldn't want to risk it.

Brill Thanks for that I have sent for a heated one from 'Car Door Mirrors'. I have to say I have never noticed the door mirrors dim anyway and even if I had I don't see how Lexus can possibly justify £275+VAT. You can buy the complete mirror new for £500 +VAT that means more than 50% of that is the mirror glass. If you want my opinion I'm afraid this looks to me like a case of Lexus fleecing its loyal customers, especially now you have to have un damaged door mirrors to get through the MOT.

I have just phoned Lexus parts dept at my local dealership to price the Mirror glass to fit my offside door mirror in my 2006 (56 plate) RX350 SE-L. Mine is cracked. Apparently because it has something special about it they want OVER! £300. Does anyone please have any suggestions of where to get a realistic priced replacement Mirror Glass... Many Thanks Paul....

My RX350 is 2006 and hapilly turns out 33.8 - 34.1 on the motorway. I had an RX300 that would do 28/29 on a run and 30 on good days. 😃

I have posted this on another thread but here it is again in case it helps for locking a 2002 RX300 (UK early version) without intruder alarm closeall the doors then insert the key in the drivers door turning the key it in the "unlock" direction (even though the car is already unlocked) remove the key and within 10 seconds press the lock button on the key once to lock the doors or twice to deadlock the doors. This leaves the alarm/immobiliser activated but interior sensors off. This seems to have cured my problem or more accurately isolated where the problem is IE. in the interior sensors system. The PITA is that you have to use this system every time you alarm the car. Does anyone know if (on my early 2002 RX300) is there a way to perminatly disable the interior sensors? is it an ultra sonic or proximity sensor system? where the sensors are located? How do i permanently cure the issue? I have read many of the threads but the problem is its often unclear whether these "cures" are like the one above and needs performing every time I lock the car or not?

Only after getting Lexus UK involved the best they would do is refund cost of parts, which works out at LESS THAN 50% of the bill highly un-impressed - Avoid like the plague.... The car has now cost me £700 for the AC unit fitted at a non Lexus but good quality garage the problem now is I have the b***dy battery apparently discharging and the Alarm randomly triggering.....

The lock system I am using at the moment is to lock the doors with the central button inside the vehicle while I am outside holding the drivers door open. Then you hold the handle on the outside of the door in the open position and shut the door itself. Car locked no alarm sounds - God know what my problem is I suspect a battery drain for some reason but the battery is less that 12 months old and the problem never surfaced with my old battery.

Hi Everyone thanks for the reply's, unfortunately this has had to move onto the back burner for me just now as another problem has arisen. ​ Long story Short:. On the way up to Scotland before Christmas the RX developed what sounded like a bearing noise. I suspected the water pump. Took it into a Lexus dealer on a Saturday morning one of their guys had a listen and agreed it could be a water pump but would need to see under the casing to be sure. They had the car Monday fitted a water pump and on the journey home the noise re-appeared. It took my local dealer in Sheffield under 2 mins to diagnose the actual problem as an air-con pump. So now I'm £480 out for a water pump fitted that wasn't needed and will be another £500+ out for the air-con sorting. Currently not a happy bunny :megaangry: Before making the journey up to Scotland An auto electrician had a look at the RX cruise control issue. His analysis was possibly a solenoid in the ABS pump but it could also be the Cruise ECU he is leaning to wards the ABS solenoid because of the "C0278 Relay Solenoid Valve Open/Close Circuit" he is getting from the on board diagnostics. That said because he wasn't able to look at the vehicle while the problem was actually apparent understandably he couldn't say what it was for certain - Aint intermittent faults wonderful? Feel free to chip in with suggestions still if wish. If/When I get it sorted I will post on here to try and help others in the same predecament....

Hi all I have a 2002 (old shape) RX300 bought it with 75K on the clock and now has 103K. It has an intermittent problem with the cruise control thats driving me nuts. If I set the cruise control to ON the green cruise light shows on the dash and it will work for approximately 40 miles sometime around then the cruise light will flicker off/on and disengage the set speed, the cruise light will remain on. The further you drive the car and more you reset the cruise control the worse the problem gets. The Cruise light shows 4 different symptoms starting at one and progressing through 1 - flickers off for a fraction of a second disengaging the set speed 2 - flickers off for a fraction of a second refusing to set a speed T 3 - flickers on and off in a series of patterns (as it gets worse) 4 - it goes off completely. The only way to get the light back on is to press the on/off button Twice or turn the ignition off then restart the car and press the on/off button once (eventually) I generally drive between 50-60 mph but the fault does not seem to be speed related. I have actually had the car stood on the drive engine running cruise control ON (having returned from a trip up the motorway). Pressing the cruise control stick down as if to set the speed resulted in the Cruise light flickering off for a second exactly as would when driving but refusing to set a speed. When the fault is showing turning the ignition off and restating the car doesn't clear the fault. Leaving the cruise off or not trying to set a speed for some length of time while driving does seem to bring it back to some form of intermittent operation but not for long.L leave the vehicle until the next day and its good for another 40 miles or so on cruise. I had an Independent repairer check the On board diagnostics and they came back with three fault codes B1421 passenger side Sunlight penetration photo Circuit defective C1223 Control Unit Faulty Operation C0278 Relay Solenoid Valve Open/Close Circuit Has anyone had anything similar and what was the fix please? Any Ideas Anyone? PLease

Situation is this I own an IS200 AUTOMATIC! 2002 plate. About 3 weeks ago we got the chance of a cheap small caravan 780kg unladen, maximum capacity laden 1000kg. I know nothing about caravans absolutely nothing but did a little research and found my IS200 Auto has a maximum tow capacity of 1200kg so every thing is good. At this point I phone around for a tow bar, many of the independents wont touch Lexus but that said I found a company, local to me, who fit tow-bars to Lexus. They even manufacture and design their own tow bars. For over £300 they fit me a tow bar with no mention of a Gearbox oil cooler but when I had my car in at the dealership today a chance remark had me asking "what is a gearbox oil cooler?" and "do I need one fitted?" A check by the service manager says according to Lexus yes I should at £420 and two and half hours fitting. Suddenly my tow bar is over twice the price of my caravan. With horror stories of "If" it goes its £2K to have a failed Auto box re-conned I am now turning to the real world for help and advice Do you Tow a caravan with your IS200? Do you Have a Gearbox Oil Cooler Fitted? If not have you ever had problems, what do you two and how often and How far?

First THANK YOU to everyone on the forum who helped with this question. My Aftermarket Kenwood is now fitted. As I said before I went with the Metra Turbo Kit Fascia and used the original trim surround from the Kenwood rather than the cheap looking one that comes with the kit. I think helps reduce any gap around the head unit. I got the Amp Bypass lead on Ebay from Sounds4Wheels for £34.40 inc second class postage. Build quality of the lead is excellent and the sound from it is Superbe. I found the fitting to be really easy (no cut and bruised hands) so for anyone it may help here is what I did.. 1 remove glovebox 2 remove bolt from amp 3 remove bolt from lower left corner of glovebox opening 4 remove the lower left side panel and door trim from the passenger side footwell (these come out in one piece) I found that "4" allowed me better access to teh back of the Amp from below. I used my right hand to squeeze the retaining clip on the plug, and with a flat blade screwdriver eased the plug out with my left hand. Well Guys Thanks for all the help. So Far I`ve got the Kenwood KDC 3021 Radio/CD unit fitted into a Metra Turbo Kit Facia. It feels a bit plastic but doesnt seem to look too bad. I have used the original trim surround from the Kenwood rather than the cheap looking one that comes with the kit which I think helps reduce any gap. I think (Hope) this is the final question and it is probably a Dumb one as I am from the old days of fitting radios when you had to find live & earth wires and there was only one speaker and CDs were called records.... one pound was paper not a coin. The Lexus IS200 SE Sport Amplifier by pass lead adaptor from ebay (before i cough up £25)...... does anyone know is the black plug on the radio end of this lead just a standard fitting? My Kenwood has a plug on the back part of a system to make fitting Car radios as we used to call them easier. Thanks again Paul...

Thanks Guys, I have checked out the ERR3 searches on the forum and it looks like the best bet would be to fit an aftermarket CD/Radio. I have a Kenwood KDC 3021. I know I`m going to need a facia kit BUT..... Can I get a wiring conversion that will allow me to plug the Kenwood stright into the Lexus Loom? If so where from, my guess would be ebay but what exactly am I looking for? If not what do I need (and what do I need to do) to make it work, while keeping the existing speakers/Amp in place, and preferably without having to chop bits off the loom (IE make the modification reversable) Or am I asking the impossible? Hi Everyone, This is my first post and Im looking for advice on the best way to deal with this! My CD is giving the Error 3 message the mechanics inside seem to be the problem. and my 2002 IS200 is 4 months past the 5 year warranty on the sound system. Sheffield Lexus have already told me the options are...... 1 new unit £1000 less £200 trade-in for my old unit £800. I have no idea how they justify this price! In perspective for this money I can buy a Laptop or a High End Mobile Phone, or a Flat screen TV all of which are technologically significatly more advanced the a what amounts to a radio casette and CD player 2 It can be sent away to some firm in bradford who are the only people in the UK who can repair these things and are used by the whole of Lexus to repair the units. Cost £150 to £300 - Trouble is i`m told they are slow and I end up with a damn great hole the dash for the duration 3 Find one on Ebay, (hope it works and fit it) 4 Find one through the various scrap dealers on the internet, (hope it works and fit it) The problem with options 3 & 4 seems to be, trying to find the right model (Mine is the 13906?) and being sure the unit is working. So any one know which would be the best route to take? or can suggest anything else other quality repair services or none standard kit that will fit the dashboard and look as good or better or anything?
