  1. well...weve got RM 2k, PPG, Standox, Dupont here..........all have paint code database with corresponding formulas, the problem is with rm2k and dupont, the formulas in their database doesnt perfectly match my paint. well my car is always garaged......18,000kms only, bought brandnew in december 1999. so its pretty much brandnew i guess. i have yet to try PPG and standox. actually...i left with the paintshop my original bumper w/c i replaced with a new one even if it was only scratched during the rear end collission, so theres no excuse they dont have a big enough sample of the paint to match.
  2. anyone knows what paint brand lexus uses to repair their cars????? is it STANDOX?, RM 2K?, DUPONT? ived tried DuPont and RM 2k, and neither's formula exactly match my millenium silver metallic/platinum ice/metallic silver paint. :( the variation is very slight, its only a little darker than the original..slightly "greenish" actually. and the bodyshop painter is having a hard time getting a perfect match to me oem paint.
  3. u should be able to push the hornpad on the 9 o clock, 3 o clock, and 6 o clock positions. u can even push it on the 12 o clock position. its best to push it on the sides, as the hornpad cover is mounted on the middle with springs on the sides.
  4. well mines silver metallic, and silver is always hard to match, due to "shading" problems......... i had my other car painted...and its a perfect match...its blue though... anyway...im having my painter do several "paint test panels" inorder to get the right formula. paint database formulas arent an exact match as ive xpected.
  5. hahahaha Supracharged-IS340..................... can i order the "painter" who does ur painting???????????? or should i just have him "kidnapped" and brought here? well...it seems every country is using a different paint for refinishing. now, im trying on RM polyurethane (its by BASF-Glasurit).hope its a match this time. a perfect match that is as im very meticulous.
  6. anyone know wat paint brand Lexus uses at the factory in japan????? or does anyone know wat paint brand does european lexus workshops use for painting???? i had a new rear bumper painted with DuPont polyurethane paint, but the painter is having a hard time getting an exact match of my silver metallic paint even if dupont has this paint formula in their computer. well it does look d same to the untrained eye, but wen the lighting changes, there is some noticeable difference. like wen its twilight...dusk...or just gloomy weather as opposed to a sunny one. its really a mistmatch. :(
  7. your Scaring da hell out of me guysssss......LOL. well my benz has had d ff parts replaced in its first year...fusebox, airmass-air intake sensor, battery, horn, memory seat computer. hehehehehehe... anyways...this cooper S thing is like a spur of d moment idea...maybe itll die down as the months pass. especially that u guys r scaring d hell out of me.hahaha
  8. geeez.....this is really a lexus forum!!! lol. well my Is200 is really trouble free ...no doubt about it, its toyota tough!!!!! any ideas wat Problems are plaguing the Cooper S??????????? is it the usual Benz/Bmw electrical bugs??????????????? ive got an MB too, and ive got my share of problems with it. but way back 99, the lex was really cool with its Futuristic Taillamps, and solo inner rear fog lamps......... now...its so common..so imitated..... everytime i see a riced out civic with these rearlamps, i used to overtake them. hahaha but wat d heck i say to myself, at least..im driving the real deal! well...im still hanging on to my IS for now, ive got other priorities....maybe keep it a year more, until the new model comes out. but who knows???? maybe the new one will b soooooo nice, illll completely forget about the cooper S. hahaha...btw, at almost 4years old with only 16,900kms, my car i think is still spankingly new right??????? wen will the all new IS be out??? 2004 2005??? the GS has been out since 98 but still hasnt changed. so the IS will b out in 2005 i guess. wat do u guys think?
  9. ive got my brandnew IS200 (all options-top of d line) in dec99, only driven 17,000kms on it since (actually it has 16,900+ on it now). now, as my IS reaches its 4th year with me, i plan on changing to a Mini COOPER S. am i losing anything on this plan???????? xept that its only got 2doors right?and as with any sale...i loose money. am not really concerned about losing 2doors nor trunk space.
  10. just watched some civics n corollas drag racing in a legal drag strip venue....so i was kinda interested in joining them in my IS200 auto. but knowing the slowness of our car's acceleration...joining them in a sprint for a quarter mile could prove to b disastrous in my part...im curious about the tte supercharger....how much performance gain will it give the is200??? in a 0-60mph sprint????? i know once our is200 has gained speed...its easy to push it harder, but with a 0-100kmh sprint..its really quite disappointing. btw, how much will a tte supercharger or any other toyota oem supercharger cost???? does it have an intercooler in the bumper too???
  11. its in kowloon side. towards mongkok i think. i 4got d exact address. all i remember is that wen u take d mtr say from d mosque in nathan road...ull end up just north of it, still in nathan, and say walk about 500-700mtrs in a side street, and its there. its an area where there are lots of accessory shops.
  12. thats a Toyota-Modelista part. You dont have to replace the entire mirror assembly, its a snap on thing, in place of your regular colored covers. it costs around US$500 a pair if im not mistaken. ive seen it for sale in HK, and i think its around that price. for sure it was more than d cost of an armrest ($330).
  13. if u know how to change sparkplugs with other cars, then u can change ur IS200s. u have to remove the engine cover....all bolts are exposed anyway, then ull see the coils...they hve bolts on them ,,,simply unscrew each one, and use a deep socket for the plugs. thats it. the hardest part will b d last plug nearest d dashboard area, bcoz its a little tight. not really a hard job.
  14. well guys/gals...i just want to share my happiness with you all....after FOUR MONTHS of waiting, my New Rear Bumper has finally been fitted to my car! Though i only had two plate bolt indentations on my old rear bumper, d sight of those gives me pain. Now its gone, and my car is spankingly brandnew lookin again.haha
