  1. Hi, last years MOT identified slight play in both lower front ball joints and rear upper ball joints. due for the next test in 3 weeks so just in case, any advice on costs of repair if it's a fail and any suggestions on southern/south coast specialists/independents who could do a good job at a fair price. Thanks
  2. Hi Floggit I have a P reg 1997 LS400 that may be for sale. In black, 147K with full Lexus history including 2 recorded cambelt changes. In great condition. Only had it a few months and took it to France for 3 weeks ...what a car! Only thinking of selling because I'm hooked and looking out for a MK3. I had a new boot seal fitted because there was a leak, the spare alloys is a bit sad because of the past leak but the others are fine. No rust in the boot btw...clean as a whistle. Also had a slight door graze repaired. Stereo back lighting usually not working but only something loose because every now and then it lights up! I Hpi'd it before purchase. Had a Lexus free safety check done when I got it.............nothing urgent but needed a bulb! I would need an offer well above your 2K to persuade me but pm me if you'd like some more info. If it's not for you I may stick it in the for sale and see if there's any interest. VT
  3. After last nights rain plenty of water in the wheel well. I could trace only one track of water running down the rear panel near the centre line so I guess that points to the the weatherseal although it looks sound. The pastic panel will have to come off to have a look. As it seems so localised I may get away with a repair (bodge!).
  4. Thanks for the advice bazgtr and lutonmatt, It's strange but the only water was in the wheel well (and it was deep!). When I took out the trim, the felt under the wheel was saturated but nowhere else showed any damp, not even the over cover and there was no track to show how the water had got into the wheel space. The drain plugs are all in place under the wheel so I dont think it was coming in from underneath. I may run with the boot stripped for a while and see what happens.
  5. Hi, Thought I had a leak into the boot of my P reg LS400 - actually I had a pond! I guess it's time to replace the seal which shows some (but not much) signs of perishing. Any comments on this job welcome. While I was sploshing about in there and taking out tyre, trim etc for drying out, I found 9 nuts with captive washers just lying around and nine bolts protruding through the panels on each side of the wheel well, 5 on the off side and 4 on the near side. Can anyone enlighten me as to what these are? Finally on the offside there is a co-axcial cable with end coupliing coming from further forward but unattached and no obvious home from which it has become detached. Again advice please. Thanks
  6. Hi Ian My car shows 145K and had belt changes at 60K and 120K. So I guess 60K is the figure. Hope this helps.
  7. Thanks for the info. Just wondered if anyone had come across an on line calculator for working out rolling radius for different combinations of wheels/tyres?
  8. Hi, The car looks really good. I am contemplating a similar upgrade and wondered what size tyres did you fit to these wheels and did it impact on calibration of speedo or odometer? I have a Mk III on standard 16" wheels with 225/60 R16 98W tyres. Thanks
  9. Hi Just bought an LS400 MkIII on a 97(P) plate. What a car and what value! I can see myself driving one of these for a few years to come but just wondered if I should be on the look out for a MK IV? Does it offer real significant improvements/benefits over the one I have. Mine is on 145K with FLSH and 2 belt changes on the dot. Drives a dream. Thanks VT
