  1. Is it the right hand bank (when facing the car)? Could it be the PCV valve is completely blocked with gunk and not allowing correct exhaust of combustion by product?
  2. Hi - yes fluid level is spot on, before and after changing the fluid. Anything else people can think of?
  3. All, Hoping someone here will recognise the following, any suggestions or comments most welcome! I have a 1995 LS400 which has behaved admirably for the last 18 months of ownership. Recently changed the transmission fluid (yes, with Toyota type IV!) and ever since the car has behaved strangely. All the following is with the gear stick in 'D': After stopping completely (whether a sudden stop or from crawl, from high or low speed), the car will go into neutral and will not engage into gear until revved to about 2000rpm. As you can imagine, this not only spoils the ride but also creates a hazard as the car tolls backwards on a hill. Also, gear changes are irregular and often shift at strange revs. This can also occur when taking my foot off the accelerator for a corner and then reapplying. It is similar to not lifting the clutch in a manual - does anyone have any ideas? We have flushed all the ancient gungy transmission fluid out, cleaned the sump and filter. We will be plugging in an OBD2 next weekend but I was really hoping somebody on here could offer some pointers - speed sensors or clutch speed sensors? Perhaps even the TPS? The hose from the bottom of the trans fluid radiator fluctuates from stiff (under pressure) to no pressure at all in 'P' with no revs. Again, any comments much appreciated. Thanks, Vince
  4. Hi all - I had the same problem on my 1995 mk2. We checked everything (took many, many weekends). In the end it turned out to be a split front suspension spring that hadn't fully broken but vibrated horribly at those revs. It was patently a freak occurence but worth checking! Dig out you torch and have a 5 second check.
  5. Yep throttle body clean. Temporary fix - turn on the A/c when you pull of the motoroway, extra revs keep the engine alive. Very common fault, have a look at lexls.com for the tutorial on cleaning the body.
  6. Hi all - if you search the US site there are several long threads discussign this, seems to be a very common problem on over 10 year old cars. Short term fix? Turn the A/C on as you come off the motorway - the boost in revs ensures the engine never stalls, then as soon as you're off the roundabout/junction, just turn it off to save fuel. Long term fix? In price order - throttle body self clean (as detailed above), TPS and various oxygen sensors, and finally a new ECU with logic that was introduced by Lexus later in the model's run. I found a change of spark plugs solved my 1995, but I still turn the A/C on if there's a busy roundabout or a other roads users close by for safety. Hope that helps. Oh almost forgot, link to a long discussion on this: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=15699
