  1. Hi guys, Im a bit baffled here. I've had eibach springs put on my is200 with my 19" alloys. The place i got the job done from said i wouldnt need to change the shocks but someone else told me i should. Since having the car lowered by 15mm with the eibach's, my ride is definately more harsh! Im feeling every bump in the road and the steering does jerk while driving at higher speeds over bumps in the road. Is this a result of my standard shocks being worn out? If i need to replace them, what ones do you recommend?
  2. yes i will shortly. before and after pics to follow....
  3. Eibach / TTE springs are a -30mm drop. Any decent garage / performance garage will be able to get them for you, part no:8259.140 had it done yesterday in St Albans. Eibach springs lowered by 30mm on 225/35/19s. Running nice and smooth. Will i need to get my wheel alignments done?
  4. so are we in agreement that i should go for TTE springs, buy it from lexus and get it fitted by a garage?
  5. Will lexus fit the springs? Someone is telling me now that i need new shocks if im getting lowering springs
  6. 225/35/19 all around. I heard that the 10/01 models and above are lowered but the 99>01 models are same ride height as the non sport versions. And the springs for the latter cost more than the newer models. is that true or not? i was thinking dropping it by 30mm, maybe 35 max! what do you suggest?
  7. Im looking to get my 2001 is200 sport lowered by 35mm. It currently has 19s for wheels. Will there be any problems if i was lowering by this much? I got quoted by R-Tec in Hatfield for eibach springs at £375 including the fitting. Top Gear is st albans quoted me £310 with Pi Springs. Any ideas how much WIM or anyone else would charge or any recommendations. Advice much appreciated.
  8. I get less than 300 miles on a full tank. I wish i could get more! i feed my car more than i feed myself.
  9. Im so glad this topic was created because i thought i was the only one having major issues with my lexus in snow!! yesterday my car slipped doing 25mph while driving in a straight line. luckily there were no other cars oncoming otherwise there would have been an accident. the brakes also locked so i had to quickly pump the brakes to bring the car to a halt. must have been black ice on the roads. 5 mins later my car slipped again on a roundabout doing 20mph! since then im ****ting myself driving this car anymore. i had to do 50-60 on the motorways today because i was that paranoid the car was gonna slip! btw, im running on 19s with kumho tyres. either the car isnt designed for the winter, or the tyres. whatever the case, this lexus may end up killing me!!
  10. lexus hatfield advised me to put 34 in the rear and 30 in the front. im running on 19s by the way. car drives nicely with these pressure settings.
  11. Hi guys, looking at car warranties and that, which do you recommend? I have seen motoreasy and warranty direct. My cambelt is due to be replaced. The policy states that timing belts are covered provided that they have been changed in accordance with the manufacturers schedules. Does this mean i can take out a policy for car warranty and go get my timing belt changed for free? also i want to get rid of this known problem of judder with the clutch. apparently changing the clutch will sort this out. will i be able to do this under the warranty as well?
  12. Ive noticed the car handles better with higher psi in the tyres. I originally had them at 35/36 and then dropped them to 30/31 and noticed the steering wheel just turns itself while driving. I think having higher psi might also give me some more miles for my money. <300 miles is not good enough! Rob, you mentioned to check the air filter. Im using a K&N filter and im pretty sure it doesnt need to be cleaned until 50k miles. My car has done less than 30k. I also got this damn TRD strut brace covering it which prevent me from opening the filter. until i figure out how to open the strut brace, i cant even look at the filter.
  13. Yeah. There was only one connecter hanging out though so i plugged that into the round horn on the right. tested it and it gave me a beep! any suggestions on rear tyre / front tyre pressures and mpg on my previous post
  14. ok ive sorted out the horn issue. was very simple actually! one black little connector which i just had to plug into the round shaped horn. job done! ok, the other issues: 1: should my rear tyres be inflated more than the front ones? im thinking of putting in 30psi into my 19s on the front and 34 into the rear. any suggestions? 2: fuel fuel fuel!! i might have to start doing fill and runs with the amount of petrol im burning!! 280 miles to a full tank, maybe 300 if im lucky. does anyone else get this on their lexus'? does having a sport model use up more petrol or something? tomorrow im gonna buy some reddox fuel cleaner and see if that helps but i cant think of anything else that the problem could be. PLEASE HELP
  15. I recently aquired a fantastic is200 sport back in september, purchased from this very website (i love you lexusownersclub)- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=42114 - The car was fitted with some twin airhorns which sound bloody terrible!! Does anyone know how i can reconnect the original horn and what to look for or is this something which a dealership will need to do? - Fuel economy is bad! i know the is200 is known for this but im only getting 280 miles to a £60 tank of petrol from shell. is this normal? my car has recently been serviced and i have reset the ecu. car comes with a KN filter as well. any tips on sorting this problem out apart from driving like a granddad? - im running on 225/35/19 kumho tyres. any recommendation on psi? should the rear tyres have more air than the front as the car is RWD? - cambelt. my car is a Y reg and has done 28k on the clock. does it need changing and roughly how much am i looking at? Much appreciated.
