Anyone else  actually using them ?
    Thank you

    Malc

Yes, on my LS400. Also had them on  previous car. I considered them good value overall. I don't drive enthusiastically, so can't comment on the handling. Decent wear intervals - depending on price, would have them again

Although it’s just one car, the wife’s 2018 Range Rover hasn’t had too many problems.  I secretly really like it, far softer and more comfortable than the RCF.  Certainly feels luxurious, amazing how much difference really good heated seats and steering wheel makes.  We would have another, such a shame the RX doesn't get my juices flowing as it would be first choice.

That being said, still worry it will break down on her and foot us with a big bill.  Don’t suffer the same issue with the Lexus, peace of mind is worth its weight in gold.  A major part of my job is centred around reliability strategy and the value of stability in ‘process’ can’t be under estimated!!

There is no denying they are lovely cars to sit in. The wait for an expensive repair to occur would drive me mad!

While waiting for my car to be serviced I mentioned the Insurance price rises and asked them if sales had been affected by the problem and the canbus fears. The response I got was quite dismissal and that they don't really see any issues and no they are not really affected.

I must admit that I found their response puzzling.

There will be many buyers out there who have know idea about the thefts and insurance hikes. I doubt a Lexus salesman will warn them!

  4. I am on my 5th Lexus. The first four were all older cars (all well over 10 years old!)

The quality and reliability of these cars has been exceptional. When it came to choosing my retirement car (5th Lexus) the make was a no brainer. I am not saying Lexus cars outstrip other makes on equipment but on build quality and reliability they must be near the top. I agree with Gray, it depends on how a vehicle has been looked after. Yes, you can be unlucky to buy a Lexus Lemon. The chances are slim. These cars are complicated mechanical and electrical devices and things will go wrong at times. Rarely do you get a series of issues.

Older cars do wear out but I would put my own money on a Lexus or Toyota to give hastle free motoring. The only caveat would be if you needed a particular type of vehicle that is not available as a Toyota or Lexus.

    Hi Eve,

    Shoes on dash? Why?

I suspect it's vinyl or other forms of plastic, for which I use a car interior shampoo and then a vinyl care product. It will immediately improve the looks but for anything that cannot be 'buffed' out, such as dents, imprints, scratches, it will only make it look less obvious.

I use Autoglym Interior Shampoo & Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care. Buy a set of microfibre cloth too.

    Good luck!

Autoglym works really well especially on rubber seals.

.........  if you're thinking to ever stay with Lexus one could always try a brilliant but elderly early Ls400 ..........  V8  4ltr  ......  that's been well cared for 😉

My thoughts to get myself a 1965'ish Bentley S3 were scuppered being told it would probably spend as much time on a trailer to the repair shop as I would ever use it ..  and with silly £££££ bills too

And being an ex car dealer I know some of the pitfalls of big Mercs, Astons, Porsche, more modern Bentleys too .  etc etc etc .  and it's usually mega £££££s

So an older brilliant Ls400 seems to fill that space right now

and she drives a dream too ..  of course  😇

    Malc

When they do go wrong, the LS400 will often repair itself!

  8. To the LS400 out this afternoon to discover "Left Front Door Open" warning. Got out and closed door. Still the message showed. Next the electric windows would not operate on the driver controls. After my short journey, Steering wheel motors became inoperative! The steering wheel would not retract. Deep breaths to allow thinking. USE THE MAGIC TRICK!

Disconnected Battery earth for 10 minutes. Reconnect - all working except VSC light - that went out after a short while.

Amazing what electronic gremlins show up and sorted with a simple reboot.

I wouldn't rule out operator error. Having had my car for a year now, there has been the odd occasion when I have received the same initial message. Basically, I thought I had my foot on the brake with the initial press of the button but, in reality, my finger was marginally quicker than my foot. Should no problem, the dash tells me what to do, but if I inadvertently get the timing wrong and double tap the start button, nothing happens.

In my 450, and possibly your 350, the engine doesn't start so there is no audible cue that the car is ready to go. There is a Ready indicator on the dash but after years of low tech motoring, I still don't instinctively look for this. Usually, I move the gear lever and if Drive or Reverse lights up, I know the car is ready. If it doesn't light up, I check the dash panel. Usually it says, 'idiot behind the wheel, get a grip'. Or something like that to give me a clue. Maybe it's just me ...

It is the same with the NX300h - if you are too quick things go wrong. Warning buzzers, lights and messages - it is usually an operator error! I now look for the Ready light to illuminate! The car prevents you from doing things for a reason - though I do not always agree!

So would be around 8k euro total roughly maybe less. But i have no way to test drive and it sux

Sadly, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

You may be right to avoid it!

Importing from uk is a headache i think? VRT can be expensive so not sure.

What uk website is best to look for cars?

You need to check the total cost of import - Google it.

You can get a vehicle for half the mileage with a full service history for your budget.

    Try AutoTrader UK

    Hi all,

Not a very mechanically savvy person, still picking up things here and there. I have my eye on this CT but not sure since i read a lot about EGR clogging and headgasket blowing up issues and oil burning issues.

I called the seller , according to seller, no leaks at all, no engine vibration/rattles. All engine covers under body still there. Car maintained very well was said.

This is a good spec from what i gather. €9K price but may be able to get a little lower.

    170k miles. 2012 year. S DESIGN

NCT for another couple months only. But last NCT seems to have passed

    Any suggestions please?

I thought it a bit expensive considering the mileage. However, I am not up on secondhand prices in Eire.
