Hi Malc Sorry to be a pain but Life in French is feminine - C'est la vie. Maybe that is why life can sometimes be difficult?

Another funny French one - If a woman gives evidence in court she is female but if she is a witness she becomes male!

I.e. le témoin.  Cars and vans are females but trucks are male.........  Don't ask  😇

France is a wonderful country ............ just a shame the French live there! We should not have given it back!

I'd love the boot lock function more if it was more reliable. I've yet to work out what I need to do in order to get it to work every time as 50% of attempts do nothing other than numerous beeping sounds.

The locking features on the NX are there to prevent you locking yourself out of the car. There are a few circumstances when the car will not lock. Window open, gear selector not in park (P), key left in the vehicle. I have been caught out a few times and had to work out what was wrong. I suppose I should have read the manual! Sorry John (Royoftherovers).

  3. If it is as much space as possible you need - then get an RX but as Colin suggests, get an insurance quote for the RX and NX.

The NX boot is not as large as the RX and the back seats do not adjust. NX is more economical on fuel and road tax. Look at both side by side, if you can, to compare. Either car will be very pleasing!

  4. I give feed back on the staff I came across, and for the most part it's negative. i just can't seam to get the numbers up to make a solid team and put them in one centre. There are some good staff i should add but very few in numbers .  (Fourbanks)

I find that very interesting. What are the reasons for this?

Not enough people with the right qualifications?

    Training?

Or a general attitude people now adopt to work?

    What are your thoughts Nick?

  5.  I sometimes find it difficult, as a follower and occasional contributor to the LOC, to quickly and confidently distinguish legitimate opinion-based argument from sterile forms of argumentativeness, correct information from incorrect information or (heaven forbid) wilful misinformation, and legitimate complaints from generic rants.

I think, Renato, you are going to get this on any forum. The LOC is far better than many I have used in the past. The moderators are keen to try and prevent this. Some feel they are too quick to jump in. However, if posts breach T&C guidlines, then there is not excuse.

We must accept that people on the forum will have different opinions, some of them entrenched. I am pleased when debate gets heated that moderators step in to defuse / end a situation developing.

Here on the LOC, we are far more civilised than other car forums!

UPDATE : My Local ATS Tyre Centre have sent my Michelin tyres back to Michelin for inspection.

They quoted £190 each for replacement Michelin , obviously I declined as they only lasted 15,000 miles.

im trying a budget tyre at £72 each, they must do circa 12,000 miles and the ratings where surprisingly good.

    I Link tyres !

Keep us informed how you find them against the Michelin.

Buying from a Lexus dealer is certainly wise and should come with a comprehensive warranty. Agree that its certainly worth checking the service history to ensure its had annual maintenance. Continuing to get it serviced annually by the dealer also gives you warranty cover until the car is 10 years old.

Spot on Ken, a very valid summary of good reasons to buy from a Lexus dealer. You will pay a premium for the purchase and the servicing but you will have peace of mind that you should not be landed with a huge repair bill if something goes wrong.

Advice - get an insurance quote before you buy.

I can count 1 - which is a pretty poor percentage of the overall number of car salespeople I'd dealt with. But they are probably better at their job of hitting sales targets by not being so.

I had the interesting experience of going with my elderly (but switched-on) neighbour to buy a car. It was a two year old Mazda CX5. I had an interesting conversation with the youmg salesman. I asked him if he was passionate about what he was selling (Mazda). His answer was, "Not really, it is just a matter of financial margins. I am not bothered what I sell."

My own experience at Lexus Canterbury was the opposite. I felt the person I was dealing with was genuinely trying to find us the right car. Pampering? BS? I don't care, it felt good and I bought a car! (not the one I originally went to see).

Could it be that most of us on the forum are of the older age group and therefore have a view influenced by past experiences?

We want to have a good relationship with a dealer that is going to service our car - I am probably being naive and nowadays it makes no difference.

  9. I like my music but you guys are speaking a different language. I have Audacity but no idea how to convert CD's to FLAC?

Do you import the CD into Audacity (not used it for some time!) I think my present audio files are MP3. I am going a bit deaf so maybe I would not be able to tell the difference?

I'm currently on-site at a client's.  It's stuffy in here so I have the window open. A bloke is "working" about 100m away with some kind of petrol powered device, constantly revving it. I am having to fight the temptation to go out there and shove it up his Aristotle.

I can just imagine if he is using a large disc cutter - revving it up! I feel your pain James!
