  1. How do you get the stereo out? I purchased my first Lexus last week. Kinda had too. before going to dealer i printed off the buyers guide and all the info on what to look for that LOC members had sent me. BIG THANKYOU to all that did that for me. Car looked ok for money. Told to test CD player, so asked my lady for her new beyonce cd. put disc in and it seems to have lost it, wont eject and doesnt even say there is a disc in it. MR
  2. Guess its what ever you want. Any mid range volvo feels different to the bigger models that are very similar to Audi,VW, and the new vectra is a great car except stupid understeer and the badge. The S40 is closer to what ive been looking for to drive daily, big cars dont do it for me, ill leave them to my dad. havent had a Lexus long but its a very confident car and as everyone is saying stick with Jap. MR
  3. I bought a volvo S40 2.0D last month. Its so far been fantastic! Does drink quite abit when you give it some, bought it for long journeys and for the girlfriend to use when she passes her test. Not the quietest diesel around but is fast in a straight line. I say that, as it would be better in rear wheel drive, when powering away your not fully in control when turning, the understeer has caught me out a few times, but some serious tyres on it would probably prevent the tyres skipping on the road as much. The volvo has a great engine and plenty of room for me (6"5) though little room behind me. But If i had to choose one I would choose a lexus, front wheels steer, rear wheels drive to me thats a good set up. MR
  4. Already looking at the TDI site, Guess the modding will start as soon as ive sold my renault! So thats about £1.40 towards a supercharger!
  5. If you do receive a letter no need to panic. over 90% of people who argue their case win! Just dont pay without questioning them first. Send a letter back detailing that you were not speeding. Ask for information like, when was the camera last calibrated (i believe this has to be done every 48hours now) who calibrated it. What qualifications they have in calibration etc...ect... there are many sites on this if you have a look. Ive been flashed 4 times now and have argued everytime and won everytime. there is always a loop hole somewhere. like photos always have to be sent with letters now with a clear picture of driver. Few years ago this was not the case and I simply said someone had copied my number plate, and I accounted for where i was when the incident happened. Not enough evidence against me. (this does not work if you have a the body modified-your car stands out) Good luck MR
  6. Cheers buddy, ive printed it off and ill take it with me. I am suprised there are so few things to look for imparticular. Thanks again MR
  7. Hello, Im looking at buying my first Lexus this friday. Ive had a good look over site and have a general idea of what things to look for but any additional help and advice would be greatfully received. It has been mentioned to check ball joints, what am i looking for and how do i check them. Also is Lexus really as reliable as Im being told? can i just buy the car ive seen and expect it to be fantastic? Cheers MR
  8. Hello to everyone :winky: Im not a full member yet, as ive not bought a Lexus yet. Im having a final look at a is200 sport this friday and hopefully all going well will be putting down a deposit. After years of jumping between various makes and models of cars ive managed in just 2 weeks to fall in love with the is200. Finally I have my enthusiasm back for a car. For 6 years from the age of 16 I loved and still do have a soft spot for aircooled v-dubs, but due to growing older they were no longer practical for me. Since then ive owned lots of cars that I couldnt care less what happened to them and this was evident with my stricked 2 times a year cleaning regime. well a few weeks ago i saw an is200 in a car lot and took it for a test drive, I couldnt stop smiling and now have the excited feeling that i first felt 13 years ago. Although I never bought that car, the is200 is the only car im interested in owning. I look forward to meeting and chatting with you all at LOC and hope my Lexus ownership will be a long and happy one. MR
