  1. I don't know what the answer is then guys. Short of a revolution to let this theiving government know how we feel, we'll either have to pay the extra or drive 500cc faceless japanese shoe boxes to avoid the tax. Alternatively we could all go out and buy pre 2001 4.6 range rovers that pumps nearly 400 gr of crap into the enviroment and say F*** off Mr Brown ! Incidentally, will this latest con by the government have an effect on pre 2001 cars?? Does anyone think they will become more desireable now and hold their re-sale value more ?? Personally I have a 2000 4.6 range rover on LPG and a 96 LS400 so either way I'm not really effected just yet (although one day I will be) Irony of it is that my missus in her diesel Laguna will end up paying more than me in TAX.......bit of a joke really isn't it ? Good old Labour ! On the plus side through, I'm glad to see the Government has tackled that major problem of carrier bags before it turned into a national crisis. You wouldn't believe how much more comfortable I'm sleeping at night safe in the knowledge that major catastrophe has been averted.....phew!......and we all thought nu-labour never had their finger on the pulse of Britain.
  2. Here's a link regarding the government raping us all for car tax. It starts in 2009 so no need to panic just yet. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/B...t2008/DG_073093
  3. GUYS. Just another thing that you should be aware of. Most bigger Asda stores sell LPG. Go and get yourselves an Asda credit card and use it solely as a fuel card paying off the balance each month. As well as my trusty MK3 LS400 (petrol) I also run a 4.6 rangerover as my everyday car converted to LPG, and I notice a very slight decrease in power when running on LPG, but certainly nothing that out weighs the cost savings. Anyhow I digress, the deal is 2p / litre off every litre purchased using the credit card (petrol / LPG or Diesel) The amount of miles I do each month gives me a monthly saving of approx £12-15 / month, which over the year is anywhere between £144-160, as they say.....every little helps and it's completely free if you pay the balance off every month ! So yes you can get something for nothing !
  4. YEP ! It's in perfect working order though so you'll have no problems.
  5. You need to open and then remove the screws securing the lower glove box first and swing that down to gain access to the bolts securing the top glovebox lid hinges, I kind of rememebr also having to remove some trim at the bottom of the larger glovebox near the door frame to gain access to additional bolts, but it's been a while so maybe I'm a little confused on thius one, however bear this in mind should you not be able to pull down the lower glove box. Remove the bolts / screws securing the upper glove box lid hinges, and remove the upper glove box lid completely (again sorry for being vague, I can't remember if there is additional screws securing the facia or not at the top) if there is remove these also, if not the fascia simply pulls off revealing the mounting brackets for the CD changer. Remove the screws securing the mounting brackets and the CD changer simply slides out, disconnect the white plug from the rear to completely remove it from the car. pretty simple really, just take your time so as not to damage any trim
  6. Miq. I tried the buffalo kit and found it almost impossible to get the colour match (regardless what they tell you) besides it looked like it was painted on. Fortunately for me it was the centre copnsole armrest and gearknob that were looking tatty so I took them both off and after a good clean with acetone re sprayed them using Magix Leather Dye, the shade was slightly different, but as I did both the gear knob and arm rest together it really wasn't an issue and months later it's still looking as good as the day it was sprayed. I don't know how it would fair up on the seats but it may be something worth considering. Failing that get it professionally done as you'll regret using the Bufaloo kit for sure.
  7. I have PM'ed you my email address mate. If you send me the PDF I will host it on my server and you can link to it on here. Here's the link at last. Thanks very much to Rick 'Tigerfish' for kindly hosting it. http://www.totalfishkeeping.com/lexus/BackLight.pdf
  8. Hi Newbie, have you managed to add the link yet as I'm interested in seeing this as my stereo back-lighting has given up too. Cheers. No sorry, I tried and failed miserably, but if you want to email me your email address I'll email you the instructions.
  9. how bad was your leak from p/sbefore it happened? and how can I prevent it from happening... regs It's the 'O' ring that's gone flat on the bottom of the resovoir, dead simple fix, 3 bolts, turkey baster to suck out all the oil and a new 'O' ring, 10 minutes tops,
  10. Hi guys. I've made an easy to follow instruction sheet complete with photographs on how to repair the back light on the stereo (96 model anyway) but I've done it in PDF format and I'm not sure how to upload it to the site, can anyone help ? Alternatively if you want to email me I'll send through the pdf but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post me email address on here either....all new to me sorry for being ignorant. Anyhow if someone can help me get the link up and running I'm sure it would help other people.
