Hi mate, this is my first attemt at posting something, how did u manage to post your own topic,
Many Thanks, Tommy ( newbie )
Hi Tommy,
There's a "New Topic" button at the top right of the forum. Also, when you're reading a thread (like this one), there's also a "New Topic" button at bottom right, next to the "Fast Reply" and "Add Reply" buttons.
Hi Stevie, thanks for the advise mate, eventually managed it with your help, i noticed you where thinking about painting your brake calipers, was thinking of doing the same, did you get any good tips mate,
Cheers, Tommy the Novice

Thanks. I was on the motorway yesterday doing between 70-80 in 6th gear and their seemed to be a lot of gearstick wobble, do you think i was just not going fast enough in 6th ?
I had a lot of that until I had my wheels properly balanced at Wheels in Motion. That made a massive difference. Tony has a very impressive modern wheel-balancing machine there.
Do you feel general vibrations as well as the gearstick wobbling ? i.e. is the gearstick wobbling just because the whole car is wobbling at that speed ?
Hi Stevie, yes mate, seems like the whole car is wobbling, thought i may have been driving in 6th too slow 70-80?

Welcome to LOC.
The IS200 is more of a compact executive cruiser than any sort of fast car. @ 70 on the motorway it should be fairly effortless,
and very smooth. if you were desperate for more power, you could always supecharge it. Many members have and it makes a
massisve difference with 30% more torgue and 30% more horsepower

If you put to fewer revs when engaging the clutch it will judder....it does take some time to get used to the throttle and matching the revs about 1500 is right... :winky:
Your advise is much appreciated, had a wee idea i wasnt revving enough
-
Welcome to the club matey :D the judder your getting is a common thing in the older IS200's mines been doing it for the 3 years i've owned it, but you get used to it after a bit :)
Thanks for the reply mate, that makes me feel a wee bitty better,
Thought i had just bought a car needing a new clutch

for the wipers i'd really reccommend upgrading to aero (bmw) style wipers, look cooler and work so much better. have a look on ebay for seller xenons.biz you get 2 sets for £14 i think.
The wiper blade sizes on eBay seller xenos.biz don't seem right to me. They are selling wipers for the IS200 with the drivers side 21" and the passengers 22". I thought one of the blades was a 19" ?
they sent me the correct size, one is 21" and one is 19"
there a really nice looking good qulaity wiper from zenons.biz, and price wise its pennies tbh, less than you'd pay for normal set from halfrauds
Try this 260268036929 on eBay, i bought a set last week and they are spot on, thats the second car ive used them on.
-
The parts you need will not cost much from Lexus, but may available, cheaper, from an independant motor factor. If you need wipers anyway, it is worth spending a litle more (£20ish) on some better ones, (aero style, or silicone coated). Will improve visability in the wet and at high speed, and therefor improve safety.
EDIT: Blades mentioned above ebay link are only £11.68, delivered. Think i'll order myself a set!
I had these on my last cat BMW, then just put a set on my Lexus on Friday, they are the BIZ !!!

Hi, First post, took me 2 days to post this ( if it goes through ).
Just thought i'd introduce myself, having bought my first Lexus is200 last week.
I thought it would be alot faster than it is. Does it need lots of rev's or is their something wrong?
Also, i sometimes get a little shudder when taking off in 1st, maybe just me getting used to the clutch.
Anyway, after reading alot of your posts, i'd just like to say hello,
Tommy
Hi mate, thanks for the reply,
Having come from a BMW316i 102 BHP, i think i was expecting a bit too much.
Not that i drive fast anyway

Greetings all, just wanted to say hi.
Have put a deposit on a 1999 IS200 Sport, can't wait to pick it up ! Hopefully later this week.
I have already found these forums very useful in terms of doing a bit of research before buying. For example, "my" car has the older-style bottom loading CD head unit. I loaded it up and it seemed to work ok, but now I know that in the case of the dreaded stuck CD error, there seems to be a neat solution courtesy of Wozza (detailed >>here<<).
I also picked up some useful tips about getting hold of some number plates.
So thanks in advance for helping me without me even asking !
