Excuse the ignorance, but where and what is WIM?
WIM are Wheels In Motion. One of their most common services discussed on these forums is to set the chassis geometry "properly" on an IS200, i.e. in a way that is far better than the original factory setup, in that it cures the premature tyre wear problem often seen on IS200s, and generally improves the handling.
I had it carried out on my own IS200 and I can't recommend it highly enough.
WIM do lots of other things too, but the chassis geometry set-up really is a "must have" IMHO.

I know our guys won the footy champion ship n came 3rd in the tug of war but how did the guys who entered the shown n shine etc get on
Well, no-one from LOC won in Show & Shine, it was a Toyota that won in the Lexus/Toyota category (how come Suzuki have their own category but we have to share with Toyota ? :duh: )
They didn't read out a full list of placings at the awards ceremony though, only the winners, so I don't know if there's any more information than that.

So how does your car go now ?
And has your Dad found out yet ? :D

Happy Birthday ! :D

Lazyboy looking happy and relaxed before the eating competition, before he realises that not all the food might be "normal" ...
OK, this food doesn't look too bad at all, but wait - what's in that closed box ? (answer = snake eggs
)
Oh well, better tuck in for the honour of LOC !

Some of my pics, more to come in due course. Apologises in advance if I've got any names wrong here, let me know and I'll fix it !
LOC club stand, and beautiful weather on the Saturday !
Stav's engine bay
Bazza's engine bay
DJ Wozza really enjoyed the tug of war
The car pull was hard work too ! Norkep in action for LOC

4. Remote central locking doesn,t work although if I lock the car by key immobiliser light shows it's working and all the doors lock. I have two keys with one button on the side - am I best getting an after market remote system fitted or could an auto-electrician possibly sort it?
That sounds like a common problem where the car "forgets" some of the keys for the remote locking. A dealer will charge you a fortune to re-programme the keys. On an IS you can do it yourself and there's a guide on the IS forum. Perhaps some of the GS owners here can comment on GS key programming ?
5. My rear fog lights seem to be wired into the normal lighting system so when my lights are on the rear fog lights are on also. I have had to take the bulbs out and when my lights are on the fog light warning light comes on the dash board although the front fogs work correctly with the fog light switch. This car has recently passed it's MOT and I thought it would be a failure. That's a common mod on the IS, so I'm guessing the same is done on the GS too. I guess what you could do is to find a guide on how to add the mod, and then work backwards through it to un-do it. Have a look here

Hmm, my latest observations are that my head unit seems to often start skipping towards the last few tracks of the CD. Since CDs play from the inside towards the outside, that makes it sound more like a mechanical problem with reading the outside of discs

Great news that you got it back Lee. Wozza announced the fact last night at JAE, so the whole Japanese car community probably knows now, such was the volume of the PA !
-
A couple more things to note that are slowly coming back to me. Lazyboy made a noble effort in the eating competition, he came around third by the looks of thing. Most of what he had to eat looked like pretty normal Japanese food, but they also had some snake eggs
The LOC tug of war team came third. Boy did they look knackered ! Hope your leg recovers soon Wozza !
Think that one of the Toyota Owners Club won the bungee run.

Make sure you buy some really good quality bulbs…
Why is it important to have "really good quality bulbs" for your number plate lights ?
-
wow!... is fitting a s/c "that" easy, you can do at an event?? :o
Yep, he did it ! With help from various friendly LOC members (especially Stav and Gord).
I took quite a few pics of the process and will post them up in due course ! Was really interesting to see it happening.
-
Wow, that was great ! :D
Was down for the day on Saturday and had a great time. Big thanks to everyone who helped me with replacing my inside door handle, it looks a *lot* better now. Thanks to Wozza too re the rear fogs.
So nice to meet lots of other LOC members, too many to mention all here. What fantastic weather we had too ! Great to see lots of nice cars on the club stand, and interesting to see what different people had done to their motors.
Big well done to the LOC football team who were football champions !
Tom-18 did indeed get his charger fitted at the event, which drew quite a bit of attention from passers-by who found it hard to believe such a thing could be attempted at a car show. And it worked ! At least, he drove off in it with charger fitted and nothing seemed to have exploded/caught fire ! :)
I took loads of pics, will get them posted up at some point.
Wozza seemed to be doing a great job playing some choons later on, and I think most of the entire site could probably hear our sound system !
Shame I had to leave but I stayed quite a long time and was knackered !
Big thanks to everyone at the LOC who organised our participation in such a fun event.

Quick question wil the tyres on my standard alloys fit on these?
These 11-spoke wheels are the same size as the 5-spoke alloys, so if those are what you have then yes, your tyres will fit exactly the same.
-
Well I'll be at the JAE as from about 8am! Will see you guys there!
If someone could PM me there number it would be great so i can call you to meet up :D
Just head for the LOC stand. I don't know anyone "in real life" either, but that's my plan for meeting up with everyone else ! :)

For leather I'd recommend the Sonus Leather kit, you get two bottles and a sponge for about £15.
Cheers Paradoid....where do you get this kit from?
You can get it at CleanYourCar , amongst other places.

Is this a common problem ?
yep, the players don't like reading CD-R's
That's the thing though, it's the originals where it's having a problem on a couple of discs (on one I can see the scratch easily, though on the other I can't see anything wrong), and when I copied them to CD-R it worked better !
I might as well try and see if cleaning the lens helps, but it sounds like I could be heading for trouble ...
-
I have a bottom-loading CD head unit and although I haven't had any problem with discs getting physically stuck, or the dreaded "ERR3", I am finding that it seems sensitive to small scratches/marks on the discs.
Some CDs that played perfectly well on my old car are causing problems where it starts getting stuck and/or skipping on a particular track. I took a CD and copied it via my PC (which had no problems) to make a new disc, and the new disc seems to be ok.
Is this a common problem ? Could it be that the laser is a bit dusty or something ? Do I just need to put up with it ? Or is it a sign that the unit is on its way out ?

There's a very useful thread which may help you, here

There's massive amounts of technical information on the IS200 in the online workshop manual here

unsure how easy it is, but getting the panel off is a doddle, (bring a butterknife & philips screwdriver)
I've got some panel removers so i'll dig them out.
Thanks Stav :)
Does that mean I don't need to bring a butter knife ? Cos I ain't got one !
-
sweet had a wee look there and had a mess about. think i will be getting off them, how long they take to get you them?
have the import style on yours?
When I ordered, I received the plates the next day ! They try and get them to you within 2-3 days, so you shouldn't assume you definitely will get them next day.
Nah I've just got normal plates, though I did get a custom-sized bigger one for the rear, I don't personally like the way the normal sized plated look at the back, they look undersized to me.

I have one make on one side of my car, and another make of tyre on the other (not my choice, it came like that). Initially I thought that was a pretty dodgy setup, but Tony at WIM had a look at them and said it was fine, because they all have the same sort of unidirectional tread pattern, and a similar amount of tread.
So I imagine it depends on various factors really, if you want to swap things around.
