I would tell them about *everything*, including air filter upgrades, yes. If you don't tell them about something and they find out (e.g. by an assessor looking at your car after an accident) then they've got every right to say that your policy is null and void.
I wouldn't have thought something small such as an air filter upgrade would affect your premium.

When my cars fixed I'm thinking of fitting some hid's to it so is it possible for someone to post some pics up please?
What sort of pics are you after, pics of the kits, of the installation, of the lights themselves once installed, something else ?

I orderd my tickets through the discount website about a week ago now but they still havn't turned up in the post. Does anyone have any idea as to how long it takes for them to be posted? I payed through paypal and there are no reported problems that I am aware of. I just don't want to have to pay at the gate again.
On the store it says that the tickets will be sent out a week before the event :winky:

cheers mate but is there a version that I can download completely?
Good question. Although you could download the PDFs from that site, that would be a pretty laborious job by hand. I believe that there are sometimes ones sold on eBay, but don't know if they're any good or not. I'm sure someone with more information will come along to answer !

There's an online manual here

I think that the petition being referred to is this one

Ya should have said! I'm gonna sell mine, as it needs a laptop, and i no longer have a (working) laptop!
I don't have a laptop though ! Mine's a standalone one :winky:

Yay, found it ! Thanks all ! :D
Bought an OBD II reader the other day from eBay (110279692936) and just wanted to try it out. Seems to work fine. No engine check light on, so of course no codes to be found. Fingers crossed that it stays that way !

I'm taking in tomorrow to a Lexus dealer for a visual check (9 years old, 49k miles). They've agreed that if they say it's ok until the next service, then they'll have to pay if it snaps between now and then.

it's beside your right leg when your driving - underneath the dash a little bit, there's a protective cover to remove which will be what your seeing, pull that off & hey presto
The cover/blanking plate that I can see is by my left leg though. Also I can't see an obvious way to get the cover off, no latch or similar. Is that likely to be it ?

I thought that the OBD II connector was the one in the engine compartment on the RHS, under the "Diagnostics" lid. But it looks like the wrong type of connector.
I checked the online workshop manual and it seems to show the OBDII connector inside, low down on the driver's side of the dashboard. Looking on my car though (1999 IS200 Sport) I can only see some sort of blanking plate (?) which is the right sort of size, although that is in a vertical orientation as opposed to the horizontal one that the manual appears to show.
Is it under that blanking plate and I need to prise it off somehow ? Am I looking in the wrong place ? Do I even have an OBD II connector ? :duh:
Edit - Doh ! Title is wrong, I keep typing "ODB" rather than "OBD" lol.

I suppose the irony is the older pre 2001 cars are probably more sought after at the moment.
I'm afraid to say that I took exactly that approach when looking for one, i.e. only looked for ones pre-March 2001 to be on the safe side.

That's nothing! My MG has been on Autotrader, Pistonheads, and an MG forum for 4 weeks and not a single serious phone call.
Would you consider lowering your price ? Sounds like it's priced too high. There are buyers out there. I bought my IS200 just a couple of weeks ago, and found a real bargain after shopping around in Auto Trader. There were some way-overpriced (IMHO) models out there, particularly (but not exclusively) from private sellers.

How about if I do a few extra laps of the M25 on my way from Surrey, will that put me in with a chance ?
-
There is a big difference between "can I sell it ?" and "can I sell it for the price I have in mind ?"
Of course you can sell. At the moment it'll be a buyer's market though, so as has been said it's not the best time to sell if you want the top price. But you can sell anything, it's just that the price will have to be right.

yea i have thought about HID lights.i saw them on a red top nova yesterday and the where really bright.any advice on which ist the best kit 2 get?
I couldn't say which is the "best" kit. There are some available on eBay. I bought mine from hids4u.co.uk for £99. The only real problem I had was having to cut down one of the plastic electrical connectors on each HID set (2 mins with a hacksaw) to make them fit properly. Very pleased with them.

HIDs, HIDs, HIDs ! An excellent upgrade that you won't regret.

Welcome !

Welcome aboard !

If the Lexus dealers in the area don't have any info, try Toyota dealers too, sometimes people take the car to Toyota for service.
-
Great pics guys ! :D

glad your saga has come to an end, HID's are great :D
Thanks. Yeah, I did go for a drive in the dark last night and they were excellent. I'd say they were even better than the factory-fit HIDs on my old car ! (although that was 9 years old so the bulbs would have been getting old)
Awesome upgrade, well worth the money.
Engine Power Loss When A/c On
in Engine & Transmission
Posted
The a/c is driven from a belt that comes directly from the engine. So if the engine has to turn the a/c compressor it will take a small amount of power from the engine, and you might feel this in some situations, yes. It should only be pretty slight though, I'm talking from experience with past cars and haven't noticed it yet on the IS200. If there is a big drop then it could indicate some sort of problem with the a/c compressor (e.g. if the engine is having to work hard to turn it).
