  1. I've just spoken to my techie, and I'm going for the following, if anyone is interest.

Castrol Edge Sport 0W-40 for modern engines

Castrol's proprietary formulation for high performance and modern vehicles

Now passes demanding European Fuel Economy Test

    Works in extreme conditions

    Improves thermal control (cooler running)

Maximises protection in high performance engines

Easy to start in all weather

Protects the engine against wear at high speed, providing peace of mind

Improved fuel economy vs equivalent competitor products

  2. (i'll be going green as soon as there is a E85 station ere, so that should give upto 20% more power, so almost 260bhp).

    :lol::lol: dont think so mate

Pure E100 is 106Ron, E85 is 104Ron, it has proven increases of 20% in the Saab.. I would have thought at least 10% increase should be possible so 20bhp+, i've already found a place that sells the kits (15miles away), but sadly the nearest E85 station is 35miles away.

http://www.greenfuels.co.uk/conversion_kits.htm £460+ fitting, the cheapest potential BHP increase ever...

    Pros:

    Cheap conversion,

    Increased power,

    Carbon offset,

    Infinite supply,

    Possible tax savings,

    Could farm your own ;)

    Cons:

    Not enough refilling stations,

    Less mpg,

    Injectors need regular cleaning,

Fuel filters need replacing more often,

And general maintenance needs to run like clockwork.

Dont give me that :tsktsk: argument about chopping down the rainforests or taking up foodland, theres plenty of land, distribution is just wrong.

  3. Hi Guys,

I am limited by space for the fitting of the my tranny cooler, as I'm also have a PLP intercooler fitted.

I've been in touch with a UK company about getting one of these, they have quote me a size of 11” x 2-3/4” x 1 -1/2” (rated at 7,500 BTU). However US sites say the cooler is 11” x 4-1/2” x 1 -1/2” either way it will fit.

Is the rating sufficient? (i'll be going green as soon as there is a E85 station ere, so that should give upto 20% more power, so almost 260bhp).

Unfortunately the Polished Coolers dont come with a fitting kit like Supercoolers, what extras are required to fit these kits?

    Cheers

    Len

  4. Hi Guys,

Which oil would recommend for the above motor, remembering its serviced like clockwork (every 12months <10k), and driven hard only 20% of the time.

I have previously been using Castrol Magnatec 10W40, and Shell Helix (as this is what the stealer had).

Which out the Edges is recommended?

    Castrol Edge 5W30

    Castrol Edge 10W60

    Castrol Edge 0W-30

    Castrol Edge Sport 0W40

    Castrol Edge Sport 10W60.

Is the Edge worth the 50-70% extra money?

I'm leaning towards the Castrol Edge Sport 0W40 for £38 (inc free screwdriver set) from Hellfrauds, does anyone know of a better deal than this? (have access to Booker Cash & Carry)

    Cheers

    Len

  5. But is it worth the £100K + asking price for a V10 Front engined, RWD?

If that is the price tag then I'm sorry but that is Aston Martin territory and I really don't think there is a comparision.

It's a beautiful car but at the end of the day it is a Japanese roadster. I don't think it goes in the Supercar bracket.

I would sooner have an Aston in my garage than this, if that was the money I was spending.

You would rather have a 100K ford? :whistling:

this is extacly the sort of the stuff people said about the LS and S class in the late 80's/early 90's.

Maybe once this car is in production and been properly reviewed, it will be on my ultimate wishlist, and once the price hits the 40k mark..

  6. you see, thats exactly what i thought. the ride comfort shouldn't be compromised. just what i was told. the hotchkis ones are becomming a PITA to track down because no one seems to have them in stock.....despite advertising they have them!!

will get on the phone in a min and contact Hotchkis directly, in Sante Fe Springs, CA.

tell them others are interested in them as well, if you do speak to them can you ask for a price posted to the uk??? pretty please! :shutit:

    Jason :P

a lot of suppliers over here wont post to the UK due to size constraints on USPS services. That said, i'll ask for you mate and see if they can ship via an alternative courrier....

Have just spoken to the guy selling the Hotchkis arbs on eBay and he has told me that shipping will be $130. bargain if you ask me, $450 total , so roughlt around £225. will be buying these up next month. :P

    Jason :P

Jase dont forget VAT 17.5%, import duty, cant find the specfic rate, tyres are 4.5%, and any customs clearance charges.

  7. erm, some people are talking utter poop

anti roll bars are exactly that.......ANTI ROLL BARS, they make not a jot of difference to the comfort level of the car, they only work when the body of the car is ROLLING when going around a corner

the best bars for ANTI ROLL are the Hotchkis or TRD Yellow.

    ^^

what the chairman said, i've got the yellows and it made no difference to comfort ;)

  8. ^^

Yes there are 37 3 series to one lexus (all models). If I was in the fortunate position of having to worry about which of the two i would buy, I'd go for an F, even tho the M might be a better PERFORMANCE car, but its way to common, BMW time done. I think the next revision of the IS-F, maybe coupe version, will give Beems something to worry about, maybe not the British public are still quite ignorant about anything that isnt from mainland Europe.

  10. Good to see a dictator getting punished for what he did, but the whole Court thing was a joke from start to end and the final verdict came just days before US general elections (conspiracy??). the main question is when we will see Bush & Blair getting hanged too for thier war crimes.

Sadam took 35 years to kill 350000 Iraqis

Bush and Blair killed 600000 Iraqis in just 3 years.....and guess what? its still rising

Killing Sadam will give him martyr status within his supporters and will lead to more violence in Iraq.

    You get me
