get an old porsche 944, not super quick but god value for money. for the price you'll get a nice enough none. they are fairly economical they are strong, fastish and still have the image(if you get the right one) and the insurance is reasonable.
plus they win hands down in pub talk!!
" so what motor you got mate?"
"toyota"
"what SUPRA??"
"subaru"
"what, STI??"
"nissan"
"what, SKYLINE??"
"mitsubishi"
"what, EVO??"
"nissan"
"what, GTR?"
"porsche"
"oh, must be a boxter?"

Does anyone else here use Live For Speed? I stumbled upon it a few months ago while researching GT5 (for the PS3), never thought of 'games' providing thrills similar to real life, but LFS was pretty impressive even if it doesnt use real cars or tracks, the physics and sense of realism is amazing. You have to do all the driving, no traction control, no abs and certainly not arcade crap (brake help, steer help etc).
I've also got myself a Logitech G25 and have put the whole set-up in my small dark (music) studio, the sense of immersion there is amazing, will be upgrade my setup to double 19" HD monitors and suitable graphics card (9800GT maybe), I would get the proper racing seat, but dont the have the space. This is a lot cheaper then getting an Pulsar and the insurance, fuel, repairs, mods, storage etc.
Other sims i've looked into
rFactor/GTR/M3 challenge (ISI engine), excellent that you can add real tracks/cars (including the offical Is-F addon by Lexus), but the physics seem to be lacking a bit, will probably buy it just for the IS-F, its only £20.
netKar, specs look/sound good (serious no nonsense racer), but its only open wheelers.
Will be interesting to see how Sim racing develops over the next few years, with rising fuel costs, technology advances etc.
PS just i've got all the kit doesnt mean i'm any good. I'm currently running 15% slower than world record times in the small FWD class (think Swift GTI).

will be selling her but not cheap...............
looking at another 45/50 bhp with 100 extra lb ft of torque
That sounds mental! Didn't think the IS-F would need anymore power but I'll be interested to see it.........make sure you get a blue one :winky:
want a white or black one............
Black looks good, can i go on the list for the ride too
indeedy
Me too plz :shutit: Its not even a 10% increase (BHP) was expecting a bit more (RS4 etc). Presume its gonna be as expensive as the 3UZFE ones?
-
with that budget he'll more than likely end up with a knackered shed...........
agreed, will probably need to spend another K or to get a half enjoyable position, and easily 2, 3 times his original budget to get it back to OEM (this is especially true for the GTO, 300ZX, Soarer etc), always comparable maintenance cost to original list price. He would better going for a hot hatch, try a stretching to a Starlet.
Most of the cars in this price range are going to be seriously used and abused.
Have no experience of the Novas, they sound the best bet, if you can like with the stigma

I was looking at a Walbro pump for mine, they're less than £100 - don't know if it'd work on the IS but I'd guess a pump is a pump and it would be more than sufficient for the IS200?
The OEM UK spec ones are better but dearer.
-
very nice, is that a real LX470?! thought they only came in LHD? was it only made of the aussie market?
-
mines mine mistaken for an evo and b*w

Cheers edeath,
yep meant slightly louder then a single blueflame, I think i'll get it done, only used weekends anyway, and get boot will be dynamatted in a few months.

Also what the hell was the point in testing a pirus at full blat again the m3 which probably didnt get over 3000rpm in keeping up, im hoping everone on here knows that its the biggest load of crap test but i worry about the people who are a little dim and live on each of his words thinking that this is actually a vaild and has any relavance in fuel testing.
Rant over
Might just be me but thought i'd be the first to stick my head out for the chop LoL
No ellz, i've always thought that of the bloke, problem is loads of 'intelligent' people are dim, I know a fair few professional people that his word as gospel, and do believe the prius is not whats cracked up to be, they can stick an electric Battery on and call a car a hybrid, japanese cars have no soul He is a complete :tsktsk: but an entertaining one at that.

If i had a station near me, I would have gone for it, upto 20% power increases, its basically race fuel (106Ron). theres a company near me that sells the kits quite reasonable for power increase £600ish i think. Just need to keep the fuel lines, filter and injectors clean.
I thought this would be the future (since 1993) being green, infinite and fast (opposite of lpg), however heard somewhere a tankful on a Range rover can feed a family in for a whole year, which the current food shortages, I wouldnt feel happy driving my baby.

Congrats geez

OK, firstly, congratulations on your move from French hatchs to Jap luxury. Good move, one you will not regret.
Lower it: YES.
OZ Wheels: Yeh, if you like them.
Florescent paint: Maybe - It can look cool and if you wanna be a bit different, then go for it.
If you change and/paint the wheels, please do ALL FOUR of them. There's a car near me with mis-matched wheels, every time i see him i think (or say) "Look at that stupid muppet with mis-matched wheels!"
(These are just my opinions, which you asked for! But it's your car...)
Agreed, but IMHO paint wheels are chav and tacky unless they are on a stripped out racecar, theres nothing worse than a car with an identity/genre crisis (stripped out, heavy wheels, full ice, boy racer bumpers, OEM style side skirts), think about what your aiming for Hardcore track car? JDM, VIP style, Showcar, ICE car, Classy slow, Classy fast, the possibilities are endless but generally less is more.

if its paid for keep it, you do very little mileage, probably gonna cost ya 3 grand a year...
or sell it, consider alternative means of transport and buy the lex back when your financial situation is better and the price has dropped even more;)

he is talking about headlights pete not fog.
Ask euroloc matey, specs and runs vary from country to country

very nice Mr E,
Might be looking at getting one for SWMBO when she can be bothered to pass her driving test.

Aido, hows it going man long time.
Hmm, I think i'll probably go for it, was gonna dynamat the boot anyway. but I dont want to lose any performance...?

Hi guys,
I'm thinking about getting a custom Blueflame dual exit zorst for my baby, but the engineer has warned me that it is most likely to be louder due to the nature of the build then a single exit.
Can anyone tell me how much louder? will it be loud on idle?
i read the single blueflame is reasonable OEM on idle, and then goes some over 2/3k?
Cheers

hmm it does look smaller :s
Have you tried cleaning the standard with CIF?! I remember JiberJaber did a brilliant job on his.

8.5 ideal is between 235-245 seems like lexus set the front for comfort
10 ideal is 285 seems like lexus set the rears for performance(grip)
The setup is similar to the supra.
OEM usually use a slightly larger then recommend width for comfort.
Remember less tyre is more grip, quick wear and less comfort and vice versa.
What offset are the GS Sports wheels? IS OEM 17s are 50.
assuming the TTEs are also 50ET
You will need another 38mm on the outside and out, rolling the arches should give you this on the outside.

Using a skinner tyre will help ;)

speed cameras can be out run at 170

Bloody 'ell Pete, i thought you were having a moan
I was planning on buying a roadster by time I was 40-50, will definitely have to be 50 now
The US price is usually = UK Price, so £225k
My next addition hopefully in the next 5 years will be the MKIV Supra of my dreams or an R35 GT-R (first one i've liked the look of).
