  1. My Is200 windscreen washer jets are always blocking up and I wanted to upgrade them to the fan/mist style. Has anyone done this and if so can they suggest where to buy this type from?
  2. I have a Janspeed cat back exhaust and have just put in a decat pipe. Nice thundery sound (not too loud) from exhaust (better without the cat) and much better throttle response. The pre-cats on the manifold help with emissions and the Is200 engine is quite a clean runner anyway.
  3. Question for those who have fitted a decat pipe- is there a gasket with two holes in it between the manifold header and the cat/decat section? The reason i ask is that i can't find one for sale and will only have use of ramps for a short time to do the decat mod so will need to cut one out of gasket sheet beforehand (if required) Stu
  4. Made for the Is300 which has a different engine i believe. Does anyone know if its the same and woiuld fit the Is 200?
  5. Would this header fit an IS200? Only asking as I could do with one and the cheapest I've seen here is about £500
  6. DIYing the headlights is easy- ten minutes removing from car, ten minutes in oven at 90 degrees C pull the lens off and unclip the orange indicator lightly sand grey bit and spray. I did the angel eyes mod at the same time and all in all it took me an hour in the evening, left paint to dry overnight and an hour in the morning to reassemble the light and refit. There is a picture guide to doing this on the forum somewhere (maybe the scandinavian site)
  7. Very helpful as always guys thanks for saving me time out in the wet and cold :-)
  8. I need to run a wire from the engine bay to the inside of my IS 200 and was hoping someone could tell me the best way to do it as at first glance there was no obvious easy access through an existing accessable hole.
  9. Cheers for the advice guys. Covers might be the way to go as they'll still fold in that way :-) The M3 ones can be a last resort as i think with the tight lanes around here they could get the same treatment as the broken one in time
  10. After having my drivers side mirror smashed off by an idiot in a Royal Mail :tsktsk: van I've thought about possibly getting some aftermarket wing mirrors as although I've repaired the mirror and got new glass, the fact its damaged doesn't sit well with me. Has anyone fitted aftermarket mirrors and if so could they post pics and a possible source for buying as I hate replacing like for like unless absolutely necessary. cheers :)
  11. Does anyone know if this looks like its a straight bolt on fitting as to me it looks the right shape but its been a while since I did the exhaust and cant be sure. De-cat pipe
  12. Cheers, I'll wait a couple of months for the MoT before I do the mod then
  13. I was thinking more about replacing main cat with decat pipe and leaving pre-cats on manifold as its much cheaper to do and should give greater performance (don't quote me on that!) Will they be good enough to pass the emmissions tests?
  14. Looking to get something like this myself. Does anyone know if the pre-cats on the manifold are sufficient to pass the MoT in the UK as I believe the pre-cats and main cat were mainly for elsewhere and don't want to have to raise the car and put the cat back in every time.
  15. I highly recommend a trip to WIM to get your suspension geometry set correctly, the lowering will completely destroy the settings. If you haven't been to WIM before then your original settings won't have been good anyway, the OEM geometry causes premature tyre wear and non-optimal handling. This is a lot more than just setting the wheel alignment, so specialised equipment as well as chassis expertise is needed. Have a look here for more details on WIM. Have you got a rough idea as to how much this stuff is likely to cost in addition to the £94 for the springs? Spring fitting, WIM working their magic etc
  16. Its a sheet of ali fabricated to cover most of the bare engine and hold the crankcase breather. Sprayed black with similar pinstripes to the original air box. The crank case breather just fits directly to the original tube turned upwards instead of feeding warm oily air back into the engine (makes sense to have one but i may be totally off the mark). I'll try to get better pics of this. Also the strut brace is a nice tight fit downwards onto the prolex kit's right angled hose out of the throttle body so makes it more secure.
  17. Engine bay Intake on front bumper next to fog light
  18. Apexi filter and adaptor on order now- thanks for the advice and data
  19. Ok here goes... 1st pic shows standard air intake next to OS fog light in bumper. standard bumper intake Next picture is zoomed out showing air feed cut into the thin metal between engine bay and void where cold air goes through the intake (chrome grille over it below red filter) cut air feed Last pic is zoomed in on filter element and intake cut into the thin metal. zoomed in cut intake The original plan was to pipe the air through this cut intake from the bumper intake but i was so pleased with the initial result (not enough time to remove the light and get down into the void to route the pipe) that i think i'll leave well alone. Hope this makes sense and the pics work!
  20. Hi, I'm relatively new to LOC so apologies to all the senior members if I'm covering old ground. I've just fitted a Prolex induction kit and noticed that there's not much chance for cold air to flow around the filter as the carbon fibre cold air box wont fit on this type with the pipe running accross the front of the engine and in its standard state the engine bay is pretty well sealed. I noticed that there is an intake in the bumper immidiately under where the filter element sits but sends air into a void. The only thing seperating this cold air source and the filter is wafer thin sheet metal so i set to it with a 76mm hole saw and hey presto there is now cold air pouring over the filter and a noticable increase in performance. I tidied it all up with a plastic insert and grille to stop leaves etc getting in and it seems well worth it for little or no cost at all. (pics to follow if i can remember how to use photobucket!
  21. Bought it and when i had it fitted found out that it didn't fit ( end pipe didn't match the bumper, centre pipe fouled on the suspension and hangers way off alignment). They claimed i had a sport which is rubbish according to my log book and others on LOC who advised me the chassis is the same). I've now got to pay to send it back and have ordered a Janspeed as I've been assured its direct fit all IS200's and is the same price direct from the factory. http://a05-b05.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmd...JMPqiZjjcE6X_O% http://a05-b05.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmd.../item.JPG?rot=1 http://a05-b05.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmd.../item.JPG?rot=1
  22. http://a05-b05.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmd.../item.JPG?rot=1 http://a05-b05.mypicturetown.com/P2PwebCmd.../item.JPG?rot=1 This is my Cobra fitted. Clearly not a bolt on replacement in this instance
  23. I just got a cobra exhaust from Ebay for my Is200 se. The mechanic tried to fit it this morning but found that the central hangers don't line up with the rubbers properly, the small cut out in the suspension is about an inch out causing the exhaust to make contact with it, and the tailpipe is 2 inches too far right to fit in the bumper cut out. My car is a standard UK IS200 according to the log book and HPI check, so this is baffling me seeing as you guys have had no problems. Its clearly not right for my car so does that mean I have a sport without knowing it or what? If anyone else recognises the symptoms could they let me know of a suitable alternative exhaust as i can send this one back.
  24. Just bought one on the basis that I'm confident its easy to fit and will sound good as I've heard Cobras on other cars with lesser engines sounding good ( deep growl rather than over the top, and not deafening on motorways). I'll report back on performance etc once I've fitted it (hopefully at the weekend)
  25. Just got one from ebay for £6-50. There are four more up for grabs
