  1. Hi guys. I've got a couple of niggles with my 2000 IS200 SE. Just lately when I'm braking and almost coming to a complete stop I get like a minor clunking noise from the front of the car, mainly drivers side I think but I may be wrong. I removed all the wheels and checked the calipers for any play but they're all fine. Any ideas anyone?

    hi mate

same happens to mine i thought its the pads moving in the caliper

i have noitced that when i go in reverse it only happens then

    hope it helps

  2. If it was your caliper im sure you would notice the burning smell and the heat from the disc... my caliper was stuck a while back and this was exactly what it was doin.. swinging to the left..but then saying that when i took my foot off the pedal it would slow down very quick and was obv something was sticking/grinding.

possible your breaks? jack the car up and see if the wheels rotate easily.. if not then, you have narrowed down the problem

    cheers

    Izzy

    thanks for reply mate

yes it is the caliper i did jack the car last night

the driver side was ok but over side was a bit hard to rotate

im going to copper grease the caliper to see what happens

    thanks again

  5. Hi mate, i had the same issue when i had my lexus.

I think i was told it was a common issue with these cars. something to do with the making of the gear box?

I shouldnt worry too much at the moment. i changed my gearbox & diff oil and i found it was alot better

slightly more on topic theres a hub bearing bit available on ebay for £50 which saves having to buy a whole hub from lex - apparently this can cure certain thud issues depending on the fault

hi and thanks for replys guys

i'm thinking of getting my clutch&flywheel done next

il see if it comes back

    thanks again :)

  6. I noticed inside the boot I can see the back of the rear shelf speakers. Now I'm wondering if a trim panel is meant to go there, to prevent the wires etc get caught on anything I might chuck in the boot. Can anyone confirm whether there should or should not be a trim panel? It would only be visible if you stuck your head right into the boot and looked up at the underside of the parcel shelf.

    Cheers

mines the same mate i dont know if it should tho

  7. hi all

its been a long time since my last post

    1st gear thud sound?

well i dont know if it was there before Probability becoz of the music

i noticest that it only happens when its in 1st gear has soon has i lift the clutch

i do know that my clutch&flywheel are on the way out

the sound comes from the rear end

    could it be the diff?

    thanks in advance guys :)
