  1. did you see David blaine turn up to his latest stunt in a plat ice lexus last night? i only got a glimpse but i think it was an IS. it looked too small to be a GS or LS. anyone else catch it? While im on the subject, is that a police GS you see in the trailers for the touch of frost videos?
  2. apart from being completely silly, are these actually legal? imagine the damage you could cause to a pedestrian or anther car if one of these giant metal frisbees took off at speed.
  3. i managed to blag them for nothing when i bought my IS. I would have paid for them if i'd have had to. you get mats for front and back to go with your interior colour. they're incredibly good quality and each has a little lexus logo on them which straight away makes your car look that little bit posher :-) if you have to buy them, yeah they're a bit of a rip-off but i'd say they're definately worth the expense of not getting your footwells ****ted up
  4. hey can we have a zoom of the TTE rear lip spoiler. i can't see it :P
  5. ok call me a newbie but what's the point of taking the badges off your car?
  6. here's a tip: you've all got adjustable side mirrors, point the left mirror right downwards when parking. it helps a lot and avoids the embarrasment of parking a posh motor a metre away from the kerb :-)
  7. halfway through the the 4th fill - looking at doing ~340 on it which tallies with your numbers. i fear my math was flawed assuming a full tank was 70l i think. got my MPG spreadsheet at the ready anyway for the next fill :-) sad i know. heh. am also learning how to drive the car better which helps. see the MPG needle hitting the 40s+ more often now after taking some advice from this thread. thanks all :)
  8. hey all, my IS200 boot pops about 1/2 way when i remotely pop it. this can be annoying at times as i have to expend all that extra energy to open it fully with my hands :winky: A friend's IS pops all the way and this makes me jealous of his car's superior poppage the car's brand new - will it loosen up with time? or is there anything i can do to loosen it up myself?
  9. had my IS200 SE a month now from new and i've always got an audible clunk form somewhere under the car when changing 1st - 2nd. no grinding or anything. just a bit of a clunk. are you saying this is not normal??? the gear change "feels" fine though.
  10. I've got an 03 IS200 SE, a few weeks old with just under 1K miles on the clock. and am loving it apart from one thing..... Can anyone tell me when this motor is going to start giving me better than the 16 MPG it currently gives me? i know the IS MPG is pretty crap for a modern car, and its brand new and all, but hummers do better than that! i do a ~45mile round trip to work mon-fri with little driving at the weekends so call it 245 miles per week.. a full 70litre tank of gas at £45 lasts me a week = a very approx 16mpg. fortunately I can afford it, but i'm not very impressed! Anyone got any tips for me?
  11. mine - IS2000 SE '03 1press = lock (flash twice) 2press = lock + deadlock (flash twice) 3press = lock + deadlock + disable sensors. (flash ??) My question is... if i idly press "lock" on the key to check if my motor is locked, what happens? nothing? the paranoid in me wants to press it occasionally to verify that i remembered to lock it when i got out :-) i like the way the car auto-locks itself after 30secs if a door hasn't been opened too. nice touch. Shame it doesn't turn the headlamps on when its dark and light are on auto.
  12. How utterly useless! (unless of course you can attach blades to them and go racing in river overflow conduits) reminds me of the days when i was a kid with those little plastic beads people stuck on the spokes of their bikes that went up and down as the wheels turned.
  13. www.lexus.co.uk - its all there... and while you're there, order a brochure. Its got some nice tables and stuff in it which list features etc :)
  14. i very nearly bought one. they look fantastic from the inside and by side view, and have some cool toys that are sadly missing on the IS like steering wheel stereo controls, rain sensor wipers, optitron instruments etc, but when you see one coming towards you on the other side of the road, they just look butt-ugly. i came *so* close to buying one - glad i went for the IS200! 4-5 weeks to go (from 5-6) and counting..... could be worse... have you seen those new renault meganes? now there's the nastiest car on the road today IMO.
