  2. Good point, but I'm completely impatient, and hate having a standard ride height car! I've had a cars dropped 40mm, 50mm and 60mm on springs and shocks, 40mm seems to be the limit on decent standard shocks before you end up with no damper travel, and a harsh crashy ride. Be interested to hear if this is true for the IS200.
  3. Hi guys, Been looking at my lowering options, and was initially heading down the TTE/Eibach route, but they're not going to give me the drop I want. Seen the GMAX offering which lowers 40mm all round - still won't be low enough but it's more like it. I don't expect the GMAX jobs will give as nice a ride as the TTE stuff, but has anybody actually tried them on their own car? Seen two reviews so far, one was good, the other wasn't happy with the ride. The plan at the moment is run the car 40mm lower until I've made my wheel choice, then get the stance properly nailed with a set of coilovers in 3-4 months time (plans subject to change daily at the moment ) Cheers!
  4. I got 260 miles out of £50 on Thursday/Friday, Cardiff to Birmingham and back, seems pretty poor but it was at quite a quick pace, with a full car and pricey petrol (£1.10!)

  6. Hi guys, Been browsing the forum for a couple of weeks getting some inspiration, but I've yet to see any heavily lowered IS's - anyone got some pics of cars sitting lower than 30 or 40mm? Coilover owners this should mean you! If you've got pics please post 'em up!
  7. Kahn rims? Didn't think they'd suit the IS but they do, that will look real good with a decent suspension drop. Personally I'd do without the skirts and splitters so I could get a bigger suspension drop, horses for courses really!
  8. Bang on mate. As the IS200 has a high offset there's no way those merc wheels would fit if PCD adaptors were used, as the minimum thickness of the adaptors would be 20mm, making the final offset way too low on wide merc wheels, which will be between ET37-ET27 to begin with. That means these have been fitted with 'wobble bolts' or PCD variation bolts to give them their correct name. Most wheel specialists do them, and they're pretty safe to use, although I wouldn't personally use a set.
  9. Cheers for the welcome guys! Really fancy some coilovers (as you can see I like my cars to run low) but I'll probably settle for some TTE springs for the time being, maybe go for coilovers once I've decided on how long I'm keeping this for, and on what rims to run (17"s have got to go as they're typically scabby in places) With regard to lowering, Am I right in thinking that the TTE springs should drop it 30mm more than it is currently, as the car is pre-2001 facelift, so rides higher than later sports, but lower than early S/SE's? Really enjoying ownership but feel the urge for more power already, hatching plans to sell my IS to my brother and go hunt down an RS200!

  11. Tried searching for the answer to this one, but couldn't find it, so apologies if it's been asked before. My 2000 sport has the proper sports grille for the year, with no Lexus badge, just the smmall sports script in the corner. I've seen other IS's with what looks like a badged version of this grille - is this an OEM part off a later model or a DIY effort? Anyone got links to pictures of the different grilles available? Much obliged, Will
  12. Hi guys, Anyone know roughly how much fuel left in the tank when the warning light comes on? Recently bought an IS200 Sport and it was pretty much running on fumes when I drove it away, wondering how far they can go with the warning light on? Cheers! Will

Hey guys, Just bought myself a Silver IS200 Sport on a 2000 X plate, wanted one since my boss had one as a company car when they were first released - have to say it's impressive how even after 9 years the car still has a real chunk of 'as new' appeal - talk about well built! It's a real change for me as for the last ten years I've been driving old-skool VWs, so I've only ever owned Golfs, Passats and Corrados. Decided to take a break with something Japanese, RWD and well built so the IS seemed like an obvious choice. Would have got a newer VW but they just don't make them like they used to! Here are my last few cars: Currently torn between keeping the IS standard as it's such a nice allrounder, or planting it on some coilovers with a few subtle tweaks to the visuals. Couple of questions if I may! How much lower is the Sport than the S or SE, and what's the best value coilover system for the IS? Is there any way to remap the drive-by-wire throttle system to improve throttle response? Approximately how much fuel is left in the tank when the fuel light comes on? Will get some pics of the IS up as soon as I've given her a thorough clean! Cheers, Will
