  1. It was the levinson amp. I never checked to see if they replaced it with another levinson as the dealer did it under warranty. I wonder how many of these problems were just on the SEL?
  2. I've seen this topic so many times and i had a similar problem. The fault was a current drain, as mentioned above. It turned out to be the pre-amplifier under the back seat. The bearing in the fan had dried out. I replaced it and have never had a problem since. Even three weeks at Heathrow!
  3. Hi All, I had this problem some time ago. It turned out to be the fan bearing on the pre-amp (under the back seat) had dried up. For whatever reason the pre-amp was still on after taking the ignition key out. I changed the pre-amp and haven't had any trouble since, even on short journeys. Hope this helps. Malcolm.
  4. https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/resources/download-owners-manual.do?docURI=http://tis.tmsnet.toyota.com/t3Portal/resources/jsp/siviewer/index.jsp?dir=om/OM48651U&href=xhtml/OM48651U_0011.html&locale=en I'll try it his orning and let you know how I get on. RX 400h SE-L 55(06).
  5. It's been a while now since I posted, but I have just come back from two week sin Canada and the battery was fine when I came back. Hi Malcolm If you read through all the postings on this problem, you will fall asleep In a few words. Check your starter battery capacity on the battery label ? Is it 40ah or 70ah ? Mine was a 40 ah and I got it changed to a new 70ah as a warranty.foc. Also check your sun visors .. On the RX300 if the mirror is not closed securely, the light stays on. The car requires a deep cycling/starter battery around 90 ah ... I have discovered that a Elecsol 70 will fit the tight space with a little bit of persuasion. This is a deep cycling/starter battery (albeit 70 ah) I have ordered one and I'll post back on here how I get on (If it arrives soon through the snow.) In a nutshell all the poxy batteries fitted by Lexus are to small in the ampere hour capacity department to handle all the toys on these excellent cars if the car is stored for longer than a couple of weeks. Regards Roy
  6. I have had the same thing. Just had a new battery and performed the learning procedure. Definately works, so give it a try.
  7. Hey Rob, Well I said I'd let you know how I got on. It turned out to be the pre-amp thatwas cutting out, but the head unit was still taking power. pre-amp has been replaced as has the aux battery (45ah). Not having any problems at all, but will let you know if it satrts to reocurr. Hi Malcolm If you read through all the postings on this problem, you will fall asleep In a few words. 8. Hey Guys, I've recently being having some issues, which they have finally sorted. My stereo unit was cutting out so they changed the head unit. Oh sorry 06 Rx400h SE-L. Anyway the head unit was a standard unit, not the Mark Levinson and you can definately tell the difference in sound quality. It turned out that that wasn't the fault. It was the pre-amp that's hidden underneath the back seat. Once they changed that out everything has been fine. I will let you know when they reinstall the original un-faulty Mark Levinson unit.
  9. This is a recurring thread. I too have had problems with my battery. It seems if you do a reasonable journey everyday then there is no porblem. However, if you do a short commute, such as myself (3M) then the battery discharges and does't recover. I have however done some longer journey's and then come left it overnight and come to a flat battery in the morning. It is also affecting my stereo i.e. sometimes it doesn't work, but after a little run it will burst into life. This is an alternative to just a heavy 'hotel load' and I believe that there is a constant drain which may be coming from a small short somewhere. My guess is the fuse box (dry joint). Its going back to the dealer in Feb as its still under warranty and hopefully then I will get an owners manual and try and figure this out. I will let you know how I get on.
