Hi rayaans Just got back from Lexus and had a very nice meeting with their very knowledgeable Master Technician Tim . He told me that the car had been plugged into their Diagnostics but was not picking up any faults at all on the last visit. I showed him the last Video which is on here, and straight away he heard the much louder knocking and saw the Vibration and knew instantly what it was due to the time it was happening . You were right, one Injector . i can't remember but he said Three do one thing and Three do another, and narrowed it down the one set of Three ! They've been ordered and its going in next week to to be repaired ..... Will keep you posted . Thanks to you and everyone

The Car has done 75000+ Miles and has Full Lexus Service History . We only bought the Car from Lexus literally Four odd weeks ago and noticed the problem straight away, so unless The Dealer can sort the knocking out, it will be going back on the 30 Day Exchange. Hopefully they can as it's a lovely Car apart from that !

We agreed with Lexus Gatwick that the 30 Day Exchange can continue past the 30 days as they've been busy and haven't been able to supply Courtesy Car, but letter was sent after Two Weeks telling them we don't want the Cat unless the Engine Knocking/Vibration is repaired. So hopefully Car will be picked up this week to either be repaired or a replacement Vehicle found. Just done another Video today on Monday 14th February (Got days mixed up on Video and said Tuesday ! ) Noise is still there after being left about 15 mins after being driven and still warm and is doing exactly the same as before (Sorts itself out after about 15 Secs) If anything, I'd say the first part of Engine Knock is as loud as ive heard it. Really hoping they get it fixed and don't tell me it's a Cycle the Engine goes through again. 20220214_095250.mp4

What Lexus Dealer was it if you don't mind me asking. Maybe i could get mine to give them a ring to point them in the right direction. I emailed them yesterday to tell them we don't want the Car before the 30 Day Exchange date arrives, but would love to keep the Car if they could get the problem sorted out.

Must admit your Theory sounds good Spock66. We've decided to run it for the Week and contact them next Saturday week to see what happens next with the 30 Day Exchange. I thought we could get a Refund, but speaking to the usual Lexus Dealer we deal with, you take the car back and they find you another one. Only thing is, its got to be Grey with Black Interior and no more expensive so wondering what they would do in the meantime if they can't find one, continue driving this one or take it back and give us a Courtesy Car or leave us without a Car ??

Saturday 29th January 2022 This is the Update of the Engine Rattle with Video after Lexus delivered my Car back yesterday after doing Software Update to reduce Fuel Pressure. The Car is still making the same noise, although quieter. There is a definite Pattern. 1. If the Car is started from cold, when the Engine starts it is perfect with no Rattles/Vibration 2. If i drive the Car a few Miles, Park up and restart the Engine you get that 15 Secondish Engine rattle/Small Vibration everytime, probably until the Engine is completely cold again. 3. When started from warm and the Engine Rattle/Vibration is there, if i just let it Engine turn off and wait for Engine to restart itself, the second Start Up has been perfect the few times ive tried it with no Rattle or Vibration(As in Video) It does seem as though it is only firing on 5 Cylinders as Spock66 said when the noise/Vibration is there for that 15 Second Cycle. Ive still got just over Two Weeks where i can return the Car to Lexus Gatwick on the 30 Day Exchange but I'm thinking of keeping it as i can put up with it ( i think ????). My Plan would then be to put it in to Lexus Guildford ( Who we usually deal with with previous Two Lexus Cars we've owned) to do the 80000 Full Service in September At least then, my thinking is if they can find what the problem is, i can then go back to Lexus Gatwick with proof and they'll have to do the repair on the One Year Parts and Labour Warranty. Car was taken back to Lexus for tests last Saturday and they finally heard the Knock/ Rattle and Vibration that happens when restarted after leaving it for roughly 15 mins after Engine Switchoff from warm. No Noise or Vibration when starting Car with Cold Engine ! The Knocking/Rattle/Vibration always goes after about 15 Secs after Engine Starts. Just had their Service Manager on the Phone, and he said they have run lots of Tests on the Engine and say it is a Characteristic of that Engine, mine being a bit louder probably due to the higher mileage (75000) and they are getting similar Noises from other Models. Their Master Technician has said it's something to do with a Cycle the Car goes into where the Fuel Injectors do something when the Timing is Advanced or Retarded to get the Catylitic Converter to the right temperature ??? Think that's roughly what i heard !! They have done a Software Update lowering the Fuel Pressure (??) to hopefully lower the noise and vibration when it is in this Cycle, and are going to deliver the Car back on Friday. Lexus have said give it a go for another week to see if it's better, and will take the Car back if we're not still not happy and cannot live with the lower Noise/Vibration, but have assured me this noise from the Cycle is perfectly normal and their is nothing wrong with Engine. We only so picked the Car up on Saturday Herbie from Lexus Gatwick, so comes with a 30 Day Return and One Year Parts and Labour Warranty, so luckily it's at their expense ! I hope they can repair it as its a lovely Car.

Ive managed to get Three Videos of the Engine Rattle on Start Up, although i think i can get as many as i want now as ive found out when it happens most . The last two mornings, the noise hasn't been there, then had a Phone Call from the Other Half today saying that when she out in the Car, she parked up and restarted about half hour later and the Rattle and Vibration were there I did Three Tests when she got home with the Engine warm after 15 mins, 30 mins and 45mins and the Rattle was there each time for up to 10 Seconds on Start Up then cleared. Car is going back to Lexus this Weekend for Checks but here are the Three Videos in order. ( Doesn't look like they are so will upload separately ! ) Any ideas ? I could live with it as it's the only the once so far it's happened. It's the thought of if the engine getting damaged that worries me. I'd say it sounded like it was the problem with that engines VVTi not keeping the Oil in top of engine until the pressure gets up to get it where it should be looking at YouTube and previous Posts on the same engine noise. Has anyone heard of the engine being damaged by this problem ? Been perfect apart from the once it happened !

The Car has done 75000 miles with last Intermediate Service done in September by Lexus Birmingham at 73000 Miles. It has all Seven Services so far stamped by Lexus and next one is Full Service at 80000 Miles.

We've just bought a 2016 Lexus RX450h F - Sport from a Lexus Dealership with a 30 Day Return Guarantee and the usual One Year Parts and Labour Warranty. The Car has done 75000 Miles with a Fully Stamped Lexus Service History. Went to start the Car yesterday , and when the Engine kicked in (We were stationary on our Drive and out of Gear ) there was a horrible sound and vibration from the Engine that lasted about Five Seconds. We've only been out in no more than Five times and it's only the once it has done it. I'm going to email Lexus today, but has anyone got any ideas of cause and if we should just return it ? TIA Rob

I've told the Mrs just use Shell V-Power from now on . Always used it in my big BHP Nissan 300ZX and noticed the extra power it gave after a couple of Tanks. Also use the Shell V- Power Diesel in my 2.2 Honda Civic Work Car and that also runs great on it. Costs a bit more but I don't mind . Thanks for your answers.

Well, the Tailgate is now working correctly . Dont really know if it just sprung back into life or was something to do with what i did ! I read the Owners Manual, and there is a little cover that you prise off with a Screwdriver that lets you get at a little lever that you turn clockwise and it unlocks the boot . This allowed me to fully open the Tailgate. I pressed all the buttons to close it but no joy, so physically pushed it down into the Lock Position. Still no joy trying to open it with Remote or Manual so was going to try the Battery Disconnect this weekend . Just been shopping and the pressed the Tailgate Open on the Remote not really thinking , and it opened with the beeping . Its now opening and closing as it should do ! Thanks for your help .

Just seen a YouTube Video where it looks like he has exactly the same problem as mine and he disconnects Live Terminal on 12V Battery for 15 seconds then reconnects it ( i think with nothing turned on ) Is this safe to do and is it worth a try ? Only difference i can see is his 12V Battery is under the Bonnet and mines in the Boot. Thanks in advance.

Ive just removed the little cover from inside the boot and found the little lever behind it . Gave it a twist clockwise and the Tailgate unlocked so pushed Tailgate up to fully open position hoping i could press Remote and it would automatically close . No joy so pushed it back shut and still not working . Looking like a trip to Main Agents !
