  1. My Car has just had a service at Lexus in Poole who I must say are fabulous when it comes to customer care, Alison and Shirley from the service department are both stars and nothing is too much for them, I even got my discount for being in the Lexus club without even asking. unfortunately the service has picked up a few potential warrenty issue. I have a noisy suspension leg, a slight oil leak on the front of the engine coming from the head and a turbo lag problem which was picked up by the Technican on his test drive. I should be disappointed with the outcome but I am not, thats due to the car being covered bya Lexus Warrenty. As long us Lexus UK honour the request, I expect the car to be out of action for a number of weeks, but if the last time was anything to go by Lexus Poole sorted me out with a car for the best part of 2 months. I am so impressed with the service that I will likely buy a new car next year from them when the new GS appears on the scene hopefully befor this time next year as I have been told that I have to have my vacuum pump blade for the next service which I was told by Shirley will be expensive. Well done Lexus Poole
  2. Hi All I made a bit of a fopaux the other day by taking out an air freshener out of its tin and putting the freshener itself on my ash tray cover (it wasnt working in the tin very well) which then proceeded to melt the plastic (see below) My question is does anyone know where I can get a replacement without spending a small fortune from Lexus?
  3. Paul, you obviously know you stuff ? Sorry to crash the thread but I have the full spec IS250C SE-L with Mark Lev etc. My previous car was a 220D and the satnav only had the facility for entering 4 digits in the postcode. I was told this had been updated to the full 6 but frustratingly the new car still only accepts 4 ! I need to take it up with the dealer on its next service but am I mistaken in thinking it should be six ? Unfortunately the new CD's only does firmware updates to allow you to play the new maps, it doesnt give you any new features such as 6 digit entry for post code lookups, you will need to replace your sat nav unit to get such features, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  4. Hi All I have seen a few post in the forum but nothing comprehensive enough to give me a definitive answer, but has anyone installed a sprint booster on a IS 220d, and did it improve the lag issue from 1000rpm –2200rpm which is when the turbo kicks in? I have installed a diesel tuning box which has given the car a noticeable kick when the turbo kicks in, but it now makes the lag even more obvious. Any feedback would be great. the company in the UK selling them is http://www.wheelandt...ct-Manufacturer
  5. You only get the terms when you sign up for the warranty admittedly you have to sign a copy and send it back as part of the acceptance. it's about 40 pages so will give you a few hours reading
  6. yep deffo a flat battery, the manual tells you the symtoms and you have just describe them all
  7. yep , you can get it from the link below http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ the OEM map also updates the system when you load the disk
  8. Hi Steve I experienced the same transition as yourself, going from a Toyota Avensis, which I had as a courtesy car which did 45-53 MPG to my IS220d sport which does between 38-45 ona run. You must remember that the IS220D is a heavier car so you won't get the same or close to the same MPG. If you look through this forum you will see a lot of comments on MPG but try to remember that you have brought a luxury car that has inherited its heart from the Avensis. The main beam issue doesn't sound right, as my Xenon's light up the road ahead far enough that I don't need to put on the main beams and that's even in the dark Dorset countryside. I only turn them on if I want the road ahead to resemble Wembley stadium. I had the same issue in my ford ST and Ford sorted that out for me so go back to the dealer if you are unhappy. The first and secondgear crunch is normal even in the late cars, (I had a 2011 courtesy car and it did it) so don't worry about that, some of them even crunch in 3rd gear, again lots of post in the forums in regards. Other than the headlight issue enjoy your car and the excellent service you'll get from Lexus.
  9. Thanks for that TonyB, I have been away for a few days in France and left the car behind, so was eager to try your suggestion as soon as got back, and what do you know, it works a treat. Both mirrors are working just fine now, thanks for the tip. I am going to take the car to get the wheels balanced before my trip to Belgium to watch the F1 this weekend, happy in the knowledge that my mirrors are back to how they should be.
  10. I have exactly the same problem, even did a post but didnt get a reply. At the moment my drivers side goes down but not my passengers side
  11. What speed were you at for the 45mpg? I drive quite a bit on the motorway with both CC and manual and at 75 I struggle to get above 38mpg (220d sport). I have however just replaced a dirty air filter (although not reset the ECU) I am waiting ot see how it compares. I was doing 60-75 for most of the way with the occasionaldip into the 80's however I must confess that I have recently installed a K&N replacement panel air filter which may also play a part.
  12. I went up to Birmingham this weekend and drove on cruise control for half of the journey and managed to get 45 MPG which is great and that's without driving like miss daisy, also I recently found an original launch brochure for the IS and I have discovered that the IS 220d sport which I have does 6 MPG less than the standard 220d with the taller 6th gear, that makes me very happy as I have managed to exceed the manufactures figures.
  13. Since my car has come back from a blown head gasket repairfrom Poole Lexus, the front nearside suspension has developed a creak which canbe heard every time I go over a bump or turn the steering full lock. Lexus havehad a look and suspect it may be the front strut, but I am wondering if itcould be a bush or something. Has anyone come across this or know a cure for itas it’s driving me mad!!
  14. Do you have a after market dump valve? If so what make and where did you get it from?
  15. Yes the external & interior body parts are compatiblewith the exception of engine components (for obvious reasons) they don’t sellthe 220d in the US hence the lack of any mention of them.
  16. You can expect to never go back to driving a regular toyota again, welcome to luxury driving
  17. Hi All, has anyone fitted a Dump Valve to their IS220d in a bid to remove the flat spot under 1600rpm? I know this wont cure the initial run to first gear but once the turbo is runing, it should improve the other gear changes. I have seen a couple of after market electronic Diesel Dump valves but wondered if they are any good for the Lexus? see Link below http://www.racespecp...Dump%20Valve%22
  18. does a K&N filter affect performance on a 220d? more importantly, does it improve fuel economy?
  19. A Lexus is for life not just for 3 years!

  20. Hi All just upgraded my worn looking steering wheel for a new IS-F racing style one And this is how it is done. N.B. Please note, you should disconnect your battery before commencing any work on your car and only do work on your car if you are competant to do so. First of all remove the plastic covers that sheild the torex bolts and use a T 30 torex drive to remove one bolt on each side Carefully remove the airbag by removing the black and orange wire and the black cable Now use a 19mm socket to remove the centre steering wheel nut remove the steering wheel (may need a little force to remove) disconnect the remaining cables and move the wheel to a work bench to allow you to remove the remote swtiches Remove the audio and the phone/voice remote controls from the steering wheel, along with the crusie control and the rear sheilding by removing the screws using a philips screwdriver Replace all the remote components in the same order they where removed Replace the wheel back onto the car connecting all cables remembering to handle the airbag with care. tighten the airbag securing bolts and replace the covers Test all functions work on the car and then take the car for a test drive taking it slow at first making sure that all steering wheel functions work including cruise control. Finished results below
  21. Hi Dean88 And welcome to the club, in terms of upgrades for your car, one great site that I use is Sewell in the US http://is.sewellparts.com/parts-catalog/IS250-2007.html the dollar to pound cost means that you make a huge saving even with the custom cost
  22. Hi All Thought I’ll give you all a progress report. The car has now done 3000 since the rebuild and I must say is doing better on the MPG front, I am now getting around 30mpg in town and 40-44 on a run, the key is to lighten ones right foot and to lower your motorway speed to get better MPG. The car went into Lexus Poole to have its post head gasket check, and Lexus Poole gave me a new IS 200d courtesy car. All I can say to that is thank you Lexus Poole as the 200 was just slightly better on fuel than my current IS 220d but a lot more gutless. All the problems I thought I had with the MPG on my car are down to driving style as when I gave the 200d some wellie, the fuel consumption went out of the window, but when you drove the car with respect, it drove just like mine with just a 2-3 mpg improvement with the new car which had done around 2500 miles from new (I know, not run it yet until its done 100k) In terms of the differences between the 2 cars, the 200d still has the gear crunch in second gear (very reassuring as I was going to get mine replace but happy now) it is slightly lighter on the steering, but the killer for me is the performance, it feels so under power in comparison to my 2006 220d sport. I know the sport has a better ratio gearbox but that shouldn’t affect the power that much. If I had spent 27 k on a new one, I would be disappointed to say the least. But not all is loss, the sat nav is muched improved and is now available in 3D like other manufactures, and the voice control is much better at understanding your commands which means when you tell the car to set the temperature to 22 degrees, it doesn’t tell you “setting temperature to 30 degrees” (a common bug in 2006-09 cars, try it) so bottom line, my IS 220d is a keeper (although I am still tempted to trade her in for a GS450h, I like the hybrid thing)
  23. yes but it was all included in the postage price which is clearly displayed BEFORE you get to the checkout screen. Even with the custom charges, it still works out cheaper than UK prices.
  24. All If you are after some Lexus Glam parts to bling up your car, look no further than Sewellparts.com. I ordered on Tuesday an F-sport Gear nob as my one from my is 220d sports is pretty worn and a pair of Illuminated Door Sill to add a little style to the car. once i made the order, I received an email telling me my order has been processed, pretty normal as you would expect, but then came the special added service. I had an email for each stage of the shipping process from Sewell with a tracking link that actually worked. The parts were delivered today at 9:30 and best of all; I brought them at US prices which are a lot cheaper than UK prices see link below and well done Sewell for your excellent customer service and very quick delivery.
