Well you have a coupl of horizontal lines missing.
Not if you enlarge the picture.
Ok be honest...has anyone actually saved this guide and/or printed it out ?
-
Yep I'm guessing it's the same system as the one we have in our '07' prius and I've got to agree it's a pretty good system. Also agree that it would be great if it warned you of traffic in the direction you're headed even if you aren't using the navigation!
We haven't got it in our Merc as we need to upgrade the DVD to get it - after getting the Prius we were thinking of doing it as it's so good. I guess we won't bother anymore if the Merc system isn't any good
My Merc one was CD based. The DVD based one may be much better

Can simply pressing the trim cure a rattle ?
My car so far is rattle free apart from one intermittent rattle which seems to come from around the passenger side just behind the seat sort of near where the rear door speaker is next to the door handle.
It might not be there but where can I check (in terms of pressing the trim areas to try and stop it) ?
Anyone report any rattles around this area and if so where exactly is it ? I'm not taking it into Lexus for that !
Jamboo ?...

Does this mean that, at 56 I'm the oldest on here?
Not really. I've got a son who's nearly as old as you . . . . .
Oh dear good job I didn't include you in the stats then :)

Lexus IS came in third behind Toyota Prius and Honda Jazz.
Had it been kept in the executive class (like last year) it would have been top of its class. However, it (along with series 3, A4 and C class) has been relegated to 'family car' where it came second behind the Prius.
As expected, Lexus retained their top spot in the manufacturer class.
I'm sorry but how is the Lexus IS a family car ? Beats me.

I tested most of these commands this morning and they all work on the right screens etc.
COMPETITION !!!
Spot the mistake on the grid.
First correct entry will win a professionally printed and laminated large and small guide and also the POI list which I'm developing....
Come on folks this is a poor show. The guide I have produced may look like a tarted up Lexus default list but it is very different. Is the prize not very good or something ? I'm proud of this

I wouldn't call a Lexus an old mans car, I would say a vectra is an old mans car.
Anyway my Lexus my be a 2001 model but I still get comments on how nice it looks.
In 2001 I had an IS200 as a courtesy car when my GS300 was in for service. I thought it was great. Smooth and quiet.

I had TMC (Traffic Message Centre) on my Mercedes COMAND sat nav and it was pants.
It only worked on motorways, was always out of date and inaccurate. Never any use at all.
The one in the Lexus is tops. It's shows loads of information and works on A roads as well - it seems faster as well to update.
One a journey home from work the other day on the A34 bypass it showed congestion on one of the roundabouts. Sure enough when I got there it was a bit congested.
Then going into work yesterday it showed a lane closed ahead and again it was.
I think the multimedia unit must have a separate tuner especially for TMC - it's brilliant !
The biggest surprise is it working on A roads. If the backend system is the same then it should have worked on my Mercedes COMAND but it didn't

40 - BTW - the fact that your Boss drivs a Vectra and hasn't mentioned it once says quite alot about the kind of bloke he is...his IQ will be smaller than his :tsktsk:
I've got the info now. I went through 9 profiles and looked at the ages.
Average age 39 years old. I'm 41 so I'm driving a young man's car then !!!
-
Since having my IS250 just over a week I've had loads of comments saying how smart the motor is, lucky sod etc etc.
Earlier today my boss at work was stood nearby and someone else came up to my desk to say nice motor.
My boss chirped in "it's an old man's car". He's got a Vectra. He has never once mentioned my new car.
So I was wondering what the average age of an IS250/IS220d driver is....

Are the rattles all the time or just when hitting a bump, pothole etc ?
Mine are only tiny rattles and only when hitting a bump.
Actually it may be something I've put in the armrest or something in the passenger cubby hole.
My missus has a habit of dumping staples out of magazines in the door cubby hole !
In my last car she'd dropped an apple core in it !!!
-
For me rattles completely ruin the driving experience. I have two very small rattles I've noticed when going over pothole or cat's eyes.
One seems to be near the heated seat switches and another is from the rear of the passenger door area.
Seem to come and go. Must sort that out somehow.

I've made it into a JPEG for easy printing. Just open it in an imaging program.
If you want a large print then set the page as landscape A4, fit to page.
If you want a smaller version then set the page to portrait A4, fit to page.
Miraculously the number of commands I've chosen fits exactly into the grid.
I've considerably changed the logic of where the commands are for the navigation functions which I think Lexus has got wrong.
You may notice there are some audio options missing and all the phone options.
Basically I've taken out all the voice commands that are easier by steering wheel.
ps the actual commands you say are in black, the blue text describes the function.
If you spot any errors please let me know.
Hope you like it and find it useful !

"LS400" and "not working" in the same sentence ? Isn't that what they call an oxymoron

Drat ! Cheers Tango. Back to the drawing board....
My version of the Lexus voice command list is due for release soon. The one that is on the Multimedia unit (as Tango has published above) is not logical at all.
It has some commands in the navi/guidance section that are just map view commands like split screen, zoom in etc.
Also there are some commands that are useless (eg track up, down, disk up down) that's easier with the steering wheel button.
Some of the commands listed are duplicated so I've removed them as well so it's a cut down list.
Watch this space....

Well my IS250 is a brand new car and they aren't Toyo's - they are Dunlop SP sports.
In what sizes ?
Standard 17" alloys. Not looked at the wheel for exact sizes.
-
just looked on toyps website..didnt realise lex officially use toyos as standard now..the proxes r32..which looks like has been made specifically for the lex 17" alloys.

Datsun Laurel (I used to like these when they were knocking about)
FSO Polonez
Yugo Zastava
Anything starting Simca (my Gran had one)
Lada Riva
Vauxhall Chevanne (my Dad had one)
Skoda Superb
and the worst one.....
BMW 320d !!!!

I've had Toyo T1-R's on my IS250 for over a year now...first thing I noticed was the drop in the road noise.
This is the only slight gripe with my IS250. Everything is dandy but I'm sure the road noise could be improved. The stock tyres on my car are the Dunlop SPs. I will change them to the Toyo tyres when they are due for changing.
-
lol, no i dont think so. Although he did offer me a brand new one off the fourcourt for a little bit more than the leasing price.
Happy to stick with the 220D for now, perhaps moving to something a bit bigger when we buy for personal use.
You'll be surprised at the fuel economy on the IS250. My Merc diesel gave me about 34mpg to work and 35mpg back.
My IS250 is giving me 31mpg to work and 32mpg back. 3mpg less for all that refinement !
-
99% it'll be the wheels out of balance. Get all four wheels balanced as I had the same problem on a BMW and four different tyre places balanced the front wheels to no avail. When I asked for all four wheels to be balanced problem solved.
If it was wheel balancing it would happen whether you were braking or not. Just to be awkward id say its 99% likely to be warped discs. :P
Eek. I read it quickly and missed the fact that it happens when he brakes. Disregard my wheel balance comment.

STEVE IS THE WINNER !!!!
I took "this" out of "Mark this point" because "Mark Point" works every time.
You only need to say Quick Access 1/2/3/4/5. No need to say "number" in the middle - I've tested it (sad I know).
But you've got the answer right. It is indeed "Hide all POI icons" that is incorrect.
It should be "Hide all icons". Well done but you haven't got Multimedia (judging by your profile) so you are disqualified
ps shoggy - Quick access does go to 5 (I've tested that as well !)
