Ha! Cheers. Got the car today, gave myself the afternoon off (!!) and cleaned the leather and plastics. The carpet (light grey) is proving more of a challenge, looks like the lexus rubber mats it had have left a yellow tarnish! But on a good note I don't need to remove the seats. I'm sort of brining this car back from the near dead - good price, 59k miles, full lexus history, but badly neglected by current owner for 18 months ( wealthy folk, used as a kid carrier). Booked in for a full set of Hankook Ventus tyres and 4 wheel alignment on Monday. Hoping this will cure the crap steering, pulling left and generally weird feeling, I think the near bald tyres are making the steering odd. Otherwise I absolutely love this car, got 31mpg on my trip home, pure luxury, powerful, quiet, full of toys. It's the SE-L with screens in the back (of no use to me!). If anyone tonight has any tips for carpet cleaning then please let me know, otherwise I'm going to crack open the Vanish tomorrow :(

Hoping to pick up the RX on Friday, so thought I'd group my questions together! 1. Anyone had any experience with corrosion on the wiper arms (the thick part where they bolt to the motor)? Easy to get off in order to prep and paint? 2. Best place to get some nice black carpet floor mats? 3. My god it's dirty inside! I'll be cleaning the carpets and was wandering how easy the front seats come out? Noted a few of you have done this when leak hunting! Thanks all

Hi all, long story short but I did a deal on a 2006 400h with 59k miles, private purchase, very happy and can't wait to collect it. So the roof rails is not an issue as this one has them! One small thing though, it has corroded wiper arms - is this normal, and are they an easy spanner off so I can rub down and spray in a satin black?

I do not smoke nor do I have "windy smells" in my car. Fresh air is marginally better but then temperature control is lost.What account have you taken of thRe disruption to air flow over the car and possible increased fuel consumption as a result? I'll stick with air con. Blimey, give the guy a break! I think wind deflectors are great, wind or no wind!

Hi all, looking at RX 300's at the moment, all to date have green mould/dirt between the rear light lenses and the body. Does anyone know if this is possible to clean? I guess they are sealed units so not as easy as popping the lenses off? Thanks!

Probably about 250 miles to a tank then. The merc did about 350 miles and the computer told me I got 24 mpg - hah! Its all a joke really, the worlds changing and there's bu**er all we can do about it :shutit:

Hi and thanks all for the messages! (no admin staff on this site? Leave it to the members to sort issues?!). Anyway good question. I'll be in a position soon where I'll have about £10k to buy my next car. I've had enough of the pressure of monthly payments on my car so it's up for sale (merc ML). I'm lucky enough to have a daily driver Smart Fortwo, the larger vehicle is for long m-way trips, driving holidays and towing a m-bike. I've been happy/lucky with the reliability of mercs over the last few years, (previous e class sold at 150k miles with no issues at all), but they all rust and I fancy a change. I've short listed Lexus as a great brand, and am thinking of a mk3 GS300 or a post 2004 RX300. The RX is the most practical but I've always loved the GS, it's been one of those cars I've always longed for. So, major question is - are they as reliable as word has it? I know all cars break down, my fear is major headaches and expense. Looking forward to some great advice, seems to be a great forum.
