  1. Hi folks More advice needed - I have a 2002 IS200 Auto and was wondering if replacing the "normal" bulbs with the LED types would enhance the car's appearance and also improve the brightness of the lights. No one local seems to stock these for some reason although there are loads on eBay. Also would LED bulbs be ok with the car's electronics? Any help will be gratefully received
  2. Hi all you knowledgeable folks, I have a 2002 200 SE Auto in need of an exhaust trim/tip so can anyone tell me what size I need and where I can get one that looks good and satys that way please? My technical knowledge is between non existent and hedgehog level.
  3. Thanks very much. You're very kind.
  4. Hello and thank you very much for your reply and the advice. Is there a particularly good brand/type of paint? Thanks again
  5. Hi knowledgeable people, The brake calipers on my 2002 IS 200 are somewhat ratty looking and I was wondering about possibly having them painted as the car needs some bodywork doing anyway. The bloke at the bodyshop suggested that I maight like to think about cosmetic caliper covers as an option as he was worried that paint might not be able to deal with the heat. Can anyone help me with advice and suggestions as to what is available please? My mechanical knowledge remains at a level reminiscent of that of an amoeba. Thanks
  6. Hi folks, I would like some advice / thoughts about wheel trims. I have a 2002 IS 200 with kerbed and ratty alloy wheels. I was wondering if whheltrims are a good cheaper option than refurbing the alloys and if so is there such a thing as actual Lexus trims which I presume would be cosmetically better than the unbranded "one size fits all " type that you get on eBay? My car has only done 58k and its trade in value will be nil so I am looking at trying to restore it and keep it running until it drops. Unfortunately I have the mechanical knowledge of a hedgehog so have to get the work done commercially. Any advice would be gratefully received.
  7. Thank you very much for your help. Much appreciated. :)
  8. Hello folks, I have a 2oo2 IS 200 and would like some advice about oil changes having the mechanical knowledge of a trout. The car has done 58k and I only do 5-6k miles per year. I have the car serviced annually in October and checked for the winter and at this service the oil is changed. Should I change the oil more often than once a year and if not are there any benefits to doing it anyway? In view of the car's age, low trade in value and low mileage I plan to run it until it falls to bits as I hope it will last for some years. Any thoughts/comments on this? Thank you
  9. Thanks again. I really am grateful for your help.
  10. Thank you very much. Pardon my total ignorance but what are the aux belts you mention?
  11. Thank you very much for your comments. I say ridiculous dealer charges as when the batteries in my keys died I went to the dealership to buy a screwdriver (couldn't get one elswhere locally) to open them so I could change the batteries. Dealer said they could not sell me a screwdriver but that they would chnge the batteries for me to which I agreed. It took 2 minutes and they charged me £18.
  12. Hi folks I have a 2002 IS200 which has done 58k and has a sticker on the engine saying thta belts are to be changed this September. I presume this means bekts were last changed in 2007. I bought the car 2 years ago. I want to get the belts cahnged by an independent garage to avoid ridiculous dealer charges so is it safe for me to wait until September to get the belts changed (I do not want the disaster of snapping) and how much should I expect to pay? My mechnical knolwedge is that of a moose so I would be grateful for any and all advice
  13. Hi Folks I need a replacement fog light (passenger side) for my 2002 IS 200 SE Automatic. Can anyone help me please?
  14. Hi folks I still have a Lexus IS 200 Auto (2002) and the silver ball type auto gear knob could do with replacing. I can't find a replacement so does anyone have any ideas?
  15. Hiya gang, :) I am looking for help and advice again. Firstly I have an IS200 se auto 2001 and I would like to fit some bright led reversing lights. I am having difficulty finding any so can anyone poiny me in the right direction please? Also I am finding the very dark interior of my car somewhat depressing. I was hoping to find some "wood" trim to fix on to the steering wheel but can't find this either (at least not one that seems to fit my steering wheel which has lumps on the inside at about 10 o'clock and at 2 o'clock.) I was also thinking about an interior dash trim kit which I saw on eBay. These are "wood" finish, self adhesive etc. are from the USA and look quite good. Does anyone have any experience of these and can offer me any advice please?
  16. Hello folks, I still have my 2002 IS200 SE Auto and would be grateful for following info that I can't find in handbook. What type are the reversing light bulbs and what sort of LED ones should I use to replace the existing "normal" ones? Also the power steering fluid level is at minimum so I presume it needs topping up. What sort should I use for this please? As always advice will be gratefully received.
  17. Hi folks, :) I have a 2002 Lexus IS 200 SE with a scruffy gear knob (automatic) which is the "chrome ball" type. I would like to change/replace this so can anyone tell me where I can go to get one/ what's available please?

  20. Hi folks, I have a 2002 Lexus IS 200 SE and it has a crack in the tail light on the passenger side. This is allowing water into the underlying light cluster and I need top stop it. Will I have to buy a complete replacement light cluster or is the "cover" or "lens" that is cracked repaceable on its own please? All help will be gratefully received.
  21. Great :) ....Er....what is it and how do I clean it :duh:
  22. Another seat related matter. Seats in my car have black leather trim at sides and back but a perforated material for the actual "arse" are of seats and back. This appears to be dark blue and I was told by salesman that it was suede Does anyone know if this is true as they have a couple of marks/stains I would like to clean and I need to know what the material is and what to use. All advice graefully received. :duh:
  23. Hi folks, I have some scuffs on the interior of my IS 200 on plastic door cards and a few on the dash itself - nothing too serious but unsightltly. I also have some scuffs /scrapes on black leather including steering wheel wher there are patches where leather has become dull due to normal wear from previous owners hands. Any ideas bearing in mind that I have the DIY skills of a moose?
  24. Thank you very much. how do you recommend I go about obtaining a new seat? (I live in the Isle of Man.)
