  1. Funny I used to have that issue with my is300 sportcross passange sit drops flat forward to make a little table. Is yours a sportcross?. Told my Mrs sit straight and not slouch either that or sit in the back.
  2. Hello Everyone I recent become a proud owner of a 55 RX400h SE-L, Its good all the bells and whistles but I am curious to see how I can better enjoy MP3 and DVD playback front the front seat. I only just noticed that the in dash 6 Disc changer is a CD changer not DVD so I cannot play DVD in the front, but I have ICE DVD player and screens in the back. Can I at least get audio front the ICE system hooked to the MarkLavison system? Second thing is my speedo reading are exactly 5 miles below my actual speed, has anyone experienced this? and should I be suspecting the mileage may have been knocked back? I bought the car from a Lexus dealer Lister Lexus to be precise and they offered 2 years extend warranty on a 55 plate RX! Any input will be greatly appreciated thanks Kal
  3. It can slide! So it wasn't my eyes playing tricks on me. Am sure if you look under the covers and mounts there are bolts that you can unscrew to get it loose. But then there are those airway vents, I reckon it will be an ugly site without the Coolbox in that gap. Why do you want to remove it, just curious?
  4. Was thinking the same thing. Share the knowledge :) PM was contact number to a supplier, who told me that they have different part numbers (sedan and sportcross). Also I read a few post from MyIS forums American website I believe, one guy from there says he installed the sedan backbox on his sportcross and it turns out the sedan is pipe is slightly shorter as a result the exhaust started to melt his bumper. A new box from Lexus is £275 btw.
  5. Morning Gents I am looking to replace my Lexus IS300 sportcross Backbox Silencer. The real deal from lexus parts cost £300 plus so am trying to avoid that by all means. I found one on ebay on the link below http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321019307625&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123 I made an order and they later called me to say they think its not compatible with the IS300 sportcross and was designed for the sedan IS300! Now I was under the impression that the sportcross and the sedan IS300 have the same parts, was I wrong to think that and has anyone replace a silencer or backbox on there IS300. All advice and ideas welcome. Part number on my original box is 'TOYOTA 14640 FUTABA' can anyone be so kind as to check the part number on their IS300 Sedan and Sportcross or Estate as I don't like to say. Many Thanks Kal
  6. I got a IS300 sportcross I don't really monitor my mpg in city but 16-18mpg based on my at least 60mile carefree weekly mileage seems realistic. Motorway at 74-78 miles I frequently average 32-34 any faster you be doing you go as low as 25mpg. In the city driving style is key get to the speed limit fairly quick, foot off gas for a moment and cruise that keeps it in a higher gear, coast, anticipate other driver behavior and generally avoid sudden speed changes and stopping. Now with this car you can easily double or even treble fuel consumption the key is to keep the revs low but still maintain efficient burning by driving at higher speed, keep the oil fresh and topped up and if mileage is high consider new spark plugs originals will last the cars life time but I changed mine just to be sure the right stuff is in there, not some cheap halfords replacement (did the same for brake pads). I got a little girl now and am patiently on my way to get a RX400h and looking to sell or px the IS300 its done 132k and is in very good condition.
  7. Thank you Wicked677 I don't look at other brands anymore because I don/t like their pick and mix approach where you get a luxury car without heated etc. Mazda is the other brand I like (reliability and performance) before I bought my IS300 sportcross I was really after a mazda 6 estate but once I saw the IS300 and the insurance quote I was sold because the mazdas at the time were quiet expensive. Am not for German cars because after 80k problems start at least for BMW and Audi. I think I will just swallow hard patiently wait for a bargin RX400 2007 model preferred. The IS220d has lost its case but am finding it hard to rule out a cheap 200d. From my research I have found that real world economy on the IS Diesel's and indeed the RX400h are lower than the manufacture claimed figures so I agree with you here. So to be analytical but not mathematical I figured the RX400h v IS2?0d money saving is a draw considering that deisel is more expensive than petrol, infact I think for a city drive the RX wins the fuel battle. For long trips the RX practicality vs cheaper diesel am yet to settle.
  8. Hello Fellow Lexus Owners I currently own a 51 plat IS300 sport-cross and looking to get a replacement. I want a rx400 real bad but the prices seems to not want to come down low enough. IS diesels are tempting option but they don't come in hatch or estate form so if I go for one I will miss the practicality of my IS300, but higher MPG will be a welcome change. The puzzle is between getting an IS that is less than 4 years old for half to 70% the asking price on a 7yrs RX400, missing out of practicality and performance of the RX400. The IS diesels will obviously win the MPG battle and that is why am thinking about getting one. I generally do B road city driving and the occasional motorway trip of about 150miles trips to and from. Please help me decide Kal
  9. Hello everyone am new here. My lexus is300 sportcross rear wiper has stopped working, no movement and its stuck at about 15 degrees from its rest position. It just kind of grid to a half at first I could here the motor whine but not anymore. I suspect its a fuse problem but I just check all fuses and no answer and now I will try some lubrication. Has anyone experienced this problem or know any ideas to help me out. Kalibur
