  1. You dont have runflats, I can tell you this now. No idea why runflats are being mentioned in this thread. How many previous owners?
  2. How many previous owners? Is every single thing working in the car? Camera etc? I thought I got a good deal but 3.5k jesus. I paid 4.5k for a 2004 ls430 with 80k a few weeks ago.
  3. Is there any way to stop this as mine touch wood are ok for now. Perhaps putting some sort of plastic bag/pouch over them and zip tying it up for something like that? Anyone done this or know if its safe to do?
  4. I believe the compressor inside has seized. How do you tell if the clutch has gone exactly? The belt is still sprinning around etc. This is what I've been told : e internals of the compressor have 'locked' and are therefore stationary. Hence no refrigerant is being pumped around the system - therefore no cooling effect. The drive pulley continues to run because there is a 'shear pin' which breaks in the event the compressor seizes. If this didn't happen, the pulley would stop rotating and the drive belt would be thrown off. It's a 'fail safe' system. This was the diagnosis of both Lexus in Coventry and the specialists in Crewe (Autolock). From what I understand is that the compressor has seized not the clutch. So the compressor needs replacing.
  5. Well there isn't any mention of anything. Nothing in the trunk etc :/ I'm too scared to start it up with it in the air incase I blow an airbag.
  6. Meh, it was the same case in my BMW ! I do sometimes think that there is alot of "jacking each other off over Lexis" that goes on in these types of forums Try and deny it However I do admit, my LS430 is eerily quiet on the motorway.
  7. Apparently my compressor is locked up in my ls430 04 The belt etc is turning and running etc. Lexus Coventry and an indy air con place have confirmed both these diagnoses. I have no intention of buying a brand new compressor for a grand! I can get an OEM one or reman one for around £300. A bit of research and my compressor is a denso 6SEU16C.... I can get a second hand one from ebay for some ££ http://www.ebay.co.u...=item337bf6792b Or even these http://www.ebay.co.u...6SEU16C&_sop=15 But it would be naive to think that all of these could fit my car :( Don't know the best course of action.
  8. Everythwhere. Autotrader, car and classic, pistonheads, ebay and gumtree. It usually takes me all of 10 minutes to know if it's worth pursuing a bit further. Then the research begins in SH, dealer work etc.
  9. So my friend has told me about an LS430 with 200 odd k. Stamped by Lexus dealer on the dot all the way up. Spoke with the previous owner who said absolutly nothing has been replaced other than a bulb here and there. It's in silver, interior looks good with only the driver seat being used. I'm just worried about that 200k. Front bushes need doing, however I'm worried about the shock absorbers and the cats. What the situation with them? It's not a case of I can't afford to run the car, it's a case of hurling ££££.££ into a 200k car!
  10. Is it me or are LS430s a bit thin on the ground? Around 04 -05 ones with an actual FSH, not stamps missing etc! Anyone else hate waiting for cars to come up
  11. I am now looking at a Lexus LS430 around 01-04. Budget of around 5k. I'm aware of the FLSH stuff but the only thing that concerns me is the air suspension. As far as I can understand the issues are with leaking shocks and the rear height sensors. Using toyodiy, I understand the rear height sensors are around 65 a piece, so that is swallowable. However this shocks buinses, around 500 a piece isn't so much. So my question. 1. Do all UK LS430s between the years I am looking at have air suspension? 2. Is there a way of being able to tell from pics if it has air suspenson? 3. Is there a way of telling if the car has premium pack from the pics if the rear central armrest if not down? Thanks!
  12. Anyone know of a good indy or place to service in the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire area or Manchester area? Car is a GS450H.
  13. How did it actually happen? Do you contact the dealer? Do they inspect your vehicle? How is it actually done? Also does anyone know if it is actually possible to buy 3-4 years instead of the 2 years they offer atm?
  14. I am trying to find a list of standard equipment on the SE-L ones. More specifically all I am really interested in is whether the SE-L came with radar assist and Mark.L sound systems as standarD? Anyone know where I can obtain such a list?
  15. Rang up lexus, we're fine it covers the hybrid stuff aswell :) Continue the search !
  16. Woah woah woah woah.. Extending that warranty doesn't mean they Hybrid is covered even after 5 years? What use is a car to me that doesn't even have the main bits of the car covered. I was under the impression the Lexus extended warranty would keep cover the hybrid stuff aswell not just the non hybrid stuff. If this is the case then I'm out !
  17. Hi there, I am looking to be purchasing a GS450H in the near future but I am started to get a little bit confused on the warranty sides of things. I asked a straight question to lexus what the difference between an extended warranty and the original manufacturer warranty was and he said it was very similar. Does the lexus warranty cover wear and tear items such as a water pump failing or a radiator failing or something. Or if the xenon stopped working because of a ballast issue? Auto box not engaging drive or a knocking coming from off side that is due to a drop link or something like that. I am trying to get my head around what is covered and what isn't. I was also looking at third party warrantys like warrntywise and if you get the platinum cover and tick everything and have everything maxed out then it costs just under the extended warranty from lexus and also covers wear and tear items so I am lead to believe. I don't mean brake pads and discs type wear either , I understand these wont be covereed etc. Also how does lexus servicing actually work, from my research I've gathered its every 10k and goes small service , big service , small service, big service. I am used to BMWs where it goes oil filter inspection oil filter inspection etc etc. I rang up my local dealer and the prices I got for the small and big were 219 and 370.. Thanks alot !
