  1. Hi all, need a couple of replacements. Budget is an issue wheels are 225/60/16 , anyone any idea what'll fit and not break the bank ? Currently running Dunlop D8Z but I don't think they sell them anymore. Thanks Chris
  2. Hi, just replaced a passenger wing mirror. did it by hand, popped off the old broken mirror and recabled the new one and popped it back in - mirror heater works fine. however the auto-darken doesn't seem to work ... did I get the right part [ certainly paid enough for it ... [ it's genuine Toyota the part number on the invoice is L87961-50330 .... is that the correct part number or was I sold a lemon ? if not, do I have to do anything else special for the autodarken to work ?
  3. Is there tech data for that ? Allowed clearances etc ? Is camshaft removal needed ? All the lextreme forums are a little intimidating with the amount of work that needs to be done.
  4. Unfortunately import tax is based on assessed value rather than purchase value :tsktsk: Effectively a W-Reg with 85000 miles works out at 6200 euro in tax.
  5. I'm thinking about moving up to an 00 ... what kind of cash should you be paying. If it's right I might come over to the UK and get one. They're expensive here in Ireland, and on import we have to pay a whack in tax to import used, but it may be worth it thanks Chris
  6. What was the solution to this on the 1UZFE engine, mine's clicking all the time. Basically I'm just looking for something to print off and hand to my friendly mechanic, been googling for a a while now and there's nothing. Chris
  7. Well .. I've got the same problem but haven't got round to fixing it yet. the problem is a known one with the 1UZFE engine generic, this is where you found the 5/7 cylinder thing [ on the 1uzfe engine forum ] , but you'll find a lot of dealers who don't bother proper fault finding and go on money making exercises rather than fixing faults or who don't do any research .. this stuff isn't in the standard manuals... If you find a good dealer who knows the 400s stick with them like glue ...
  8. Mine are gone all tatty ... is it cheaper to get new ones or repaint the things... plus the wheels are filthy with brake dust. Where [ currently ] is the best place for them. [ and what's the best way to get that nasty brake dust off ? ]
  9. on mine [ 93] there is alarm, central locking and steering wheel all on one 20A fuse. Had to pull it recently
  10. and if you look in the driver's footwell you'll see a volume control knob for the alarm beep !
  11. The lenses are yellow. The bulbs are bog standard ... just changed mine ... pain in the ***** with all the screws... hint use a magnetic screwdriver. undo bottom , use screwdriver to push up catches , undo front 2 screws of bulb in skirt , gently pull out unit etc. Chris [ you've got a '93 just like mine ]
  12. anyone got ballpark figures... I've got the usual problem [ with the leaking seals on the pump ] , so I'm shoppig around. I'm in Dublin, so if you're UK then I could get it shipped over ... but what kind of prices < new or OEM > + average amount of labour ... Any help useful, thanks. Chris
  13. Yeah, they are prone to leaking around the top up lid, not by a lot, but the sensor is really sensitive. Just keep your eye on the level every now and then, or try a bit of clear silicone, if you can identify the leak. Stew ← Followup; the coolant level is fine, but the light keeps coming on. There seem be sensor wires running into the clear coolant reservoir. If the level in the clear tank is fine, should I worry ? Or is there another sensor at the bottom of the block or something.... that might be airlocked or something...
