  1. I have a Mk1 GS300 which has had the multi-changer removed (I can't even see where it was fitted) and after a month or so of ownership I am fed up with the poor quality of a tape adapter, the radio and of my old fm transmitter. I am not very knowledgeable in such things and I was wondering if it would be easier to try and buy a used multi-changer from flea bay or to go down the route of fitting an after market stereo. If I used an after market stereo how would I connect up to the speakers aren't they run through an amp somewhere in the boot and how good/easy to fit are the dashboard adapters? Cheers, Andy.
  2. Thanks TigerFish, typical though, I wish I'd have known that last week, I was in Derby on Thursday.
  3. Only had my Mk1 GS300 for a week or so, but I'm very pleased with it already. My only gripe would be the fuel economy, but hey-ho I knew about that before I bought it, the ride quality, power, etc is better than any other car I've ever had. I've had a BMW, Rover 75, Honda Legend amongst others over the years, none of which compare to the Lexus. Anyway I'm thinking of replacing my Missus ageing Honda Accord with an older IS200, around 99 to 02 ish. How do they compare to the GS300's, what are the better models/specs to go for and what should I be watching out for? Thanks.
  4. My Mk 1 has a boot lid that eats you if you're not careful as well, it's caught me on the back of the head twice now. Does the mk 1 have the previously mentioned tension adjuster? Soz to hijack the thread by the way :)
  5. Thanks, seems pretty straight forward with your guide to change the bulbs, thanks a lot. Now this might sound really stupid, but where would I get a replacement bulb from? ;) Had no light on on the dash, so the o/d must have been in then,
  6. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Wish I'd have known about the overdrive thing, I just did a 200 mile trip on the motorway and never used it, never mind, still got 32 mpg though, which for a big 3 litre I am very pleased with. I agree about the radio transmitter, i have a Belkin one already and it's seriously rubbish. Are there any decent after market stereos out there that don't ruin the look of the dash?
  7. Hi everyone, I'm a new member and I've just bought a low mileage (80k) 97 gs300, which I might add is fantastic to drive and there are a few things I wanted to check: Is there a backlight for the LCD temperature display on the dashboard? I can't see what I'm changing the temperature to in the dark which is a bit odd. I've done 110 miles today, a mixture of dual carriageway, town and a bit of city traffic and I used 18 litres, so 28 ish mpg, is that about right? What does the o/d button do on the gear lever? The multichanger has been removed, so I'm stuck with a tape adapter and iPod. The tape player seems to work, but only after the Dolby digital button is pressed twice, turning it on then off again, is my tape deck on the way out? Or is this normal/common? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
