  1. Update on this. The SOT 933 is the right one as it fits all the connections on the amp and the 910 does not. However it still will not mute the two speakers in the front post between the windscreen and the door, regardless of various tips from the lead supplier. To be honest I've given up on it. They are small tweeter speakers and don't interfere that much with the hands free. If they do I just turn the volume down on the car stereo. Not the most technical solution but it works for us. Thanks for all the replies guys.
  2. We have had a similar issue with my wife's RX300. It's the near side rear and only happens with slow braking. The caliper was stripped down and greased etc. To no avail. Had it checked at a Lexus garage who couldn't find anything wrong. I opened a similar post some months ago and someone advised adjusting the parking brake so that it, basically, doesn't engage when operated. Had this done in conjunction with replacing the discs and pads and the problem went away, for a while! Since having the car mot'd the annoying noise is back so I am going to have the parking brake mal adjusted again to see if it goes away. Will let you know the outcome.
  3. Thanks to all who replied to my query. An update on where we are. The caliper has been stripped down and reassembled 3 times now, the most recent by a Lexus dealership. In all of this, they have been unable to find the cause of the rattle. Dealer has given the caliper, disc and pads a clean bill of health so the annoying mystery remains! I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and replace the discs and pads to see if it cures it.
  4. Hopefully, someone has experienced this and is able to advise. RX300 LE 2005 When braking, gently, there is a grinding noise coming from the rear, near side, wheel. The noise is consistent with the speed at which the wheel is turning. My wife describes it as being similar to the noise a washing machine makes as it is slowing down from the spin cycle! You do not get the noise when the car is cold, I.e when you, first, set off in the morning but after a few miles and some braking the noise starts up. You don't get it with very light braking or with heavy braking, only the bit inbetween. My local garage, not a Lexus dealer, has stripped down the brake assembly, twice, freed up any sticking calipers etc, but the noise is still there. The only thing they found was that the caliper pin on that side did not have a rubber bush on it but they didn't seem to think that would causevthe noise we are getting. I will be replacing the bushes on both sides in the, vague, hope it solves the problem but, in the meantime, any other suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks Iain
  5. I purchased a Parrot MKi9200 for my wife's 2005 RX300 LE. Having purchased the recommended SOT 933 lead, I thought the job would be straightforward. Not the case. I have run the extension cables from the amp to the front of the car, everything appeared good to go. However I now find that the speakers at the very front do not mute when the Parrot is in use. If I disconnect the amp, completely, I still get audio from these front speakers which leads me to conclude they are fed off the head unit. My question; Does anyone know the pinout for the head unit, specifically the mute lead? Any assitance on this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks Iain
  6. Hi Flyfished I realise this topic is quite old now but wondered how the project went? I am also looking in to swapping out the original head unit for an aftermaket unit that will cover all the bases for sat nav, bluetooth, ipod, etc. Previous threads suggest that when you remove the original unit, the aircon controls stop working. Was that the case for you? The vehicle is a 2005 RX300 LE. Thanks Iain
  7. Thank you Jim. Having now got the car and found the spare wheel is mounted outside, I'd figured that was going to be the case but thank you for the reply Iain
  8. I'm about to change from a 2002 RX300 to a 2005, newer shape. Can anyone tell me if the chassis remained the same? My old RX has a detachable tow bar and I would like to transfer it to the newer one. Any advice on whether this is possible would be much appreciated. Thanks Iain
  9. I am also looking to retrofit a non sat nav RX300 LE with a Navigation display so I would be interested to know if the swap was successful. I'd also be interested in the swap of the cd unit for a pioneer unit. Did it have any effect on any of the other controls on the centre console? Thanks Iain
  10. Can anyone tell me if the electric aerial, mounted on the o/s rear wing can be replaced by a "universal" replacement or does it have to be an OEM part. The motor keeps running on after the aerial is fully extended and it's very annoying.
