  1. thanks for replies guys all seems fine with everything going to upgrade the cars ground cables. had a 3.0 accord coupe america again and that seemed to go funny some times if i cant sort it will just bite built have lexus fiddle with it
  2. well new poly bushes arrived just after my post today only installed the front due to the cold and woow what a difference to the car feels so tight. made no difference to the knock so have new brake shims coming from US hopefully that might do it and i am pretty sure my front right caliper is sticking and has a collapsing brake line. so hopfully should be sorted in 2 weeks when everything arrives
  3. well i have given up on Lexus UK and have ordered front and rear poly bushes including shipping from the US for 26 quid for the lot just ordered new shims 10 quid including postage so many parts out there online in america and most the time they work out cheaper to order from there. well that is if you can handle the 3 week wait for the parts
  4. hi there all i had p0155 code come up for the o2 sensor. Yesterday sensor was replaced for a Lexus part, before this the old sensor was checked and was not giving stable readings. When new sensor was put in it was checked and the other side sensor were checked and both were running good and co2 readings from exhaust were all good. When taking the car out for a drive when i floored the car the light came back on again. I came home cleared the code checking the readings on the sensors again all fine. Once again later when i floored the car it came back on. i was wondering if anyone else has found this and i have read a lot online about a certain about of key turns relearns the new o2 sensor. Or should i reset the ECU, the only other thing i think it could be is about 2 weeks ago 6 of my spark plugs were changed because didn't have a small enough tool to get the other 2 out. so what are the chances i have a tiny misfire at high RPM hopefully my ebay tool should arrive in the next few days to clear up the problem if it is that. any help from any gurus out there will be much of help i have found information about the 430 hard to find in the UK
  5. Hello all i am a quite new member had my GS 430 for 2 months now was an upgrade from my XJ8 3.2 thought treat myself for my 22nd birthday coming up. I was used to having Jags (2 of them) and paying out the nose for parts. when i read up on Lexus that was one of the cons of ownership that parts are expensive, well i disagree partly with that compared to jaguar parts they are cheap. well for the main part that is i had lower ball joint arm replaced 300 fitted at Lexus same part jaguar fitted sort of part jaguar 700. Jaguar may have been expensive but they knew with some things to take the mick simple things like nuts small bushes slider pins. I have found with Lexus they like to treat the fact they make nice cars as incentive to try and rob you. I payed the other day 5 pound for a slide bush smaller than my finger nail, and 9 pound for calliper slider pin. my sort of question is how many people actually buy parts from Lexus because i have found since owning that it is very hard to find parts else where in the UK. I wanted a simple anti roll bar bushes Lexus wanted 26.59 each yet online for a Vauxhall Vectra 4pound for 2 front bushes on ebay. there seems to be a lack of Lexus parts around then this morning i did a search worldwide for Lexus parts and what do you know i now have front and rear polythene bush including shipping for 26 pound coming from america. So just wondering do many member just order most parts from America as it is a hell of a lot cheaper for most things. I understand with nice cars it cost alot to fix i spent over 3k in the time i have my Jaguar S type, but i do begrudge paying silly money for something that cost toyota 2p to make.
  6. many thanks just wait till it warms up before put car up on stands again, they look fine before with good tuck noting moved but damn these big cars. Been a Jaguar man before this owning X2.0D Stype 3L and Xj8 3.2 all of them pain when it comes to bushes and suspension
  7. Right where to start i seem to have the dreaded knock with my 430 as many other have on the offside front. I have searched the internet for hours on the causes of the problem. I went through pretty much everything: slide pin bushes and re-grease changed the brakes padded loose plastic in wheel arch had lower ball joint arms replaced alignment had shocks checked took off and re torqued heat shields on exhaust I had Lexus check car over when ball joints were changed and all they noticed was that my cam belt needed doing. I checked the anti roll bar bushes the first thing i did but i am going to change them anyway. Does anyone know the cost from Lexus as online doesn't seem to have many sites offering them for the 430. If not do universal ones of same size fit? I normally dont care how much i spend but i just payed a fiver for each of the slide pin bushes i couldn't believe the cost. is there anything else that people may know that can cause this noise. I have searched the internet so many times but its hard now remembering what i haven't seen. Only had the big girl 2 months all that needed doing was ball joints when i got her 2001 430 only 48k on clock 2 owners beautiful condition not a mark on her in that beautiful american bronze colour they all seem fond on. sorry if i have posted in the wrong part of the forum this is my first post
  8. Thanks guys can tell you every model and variant of jaguar for the last 50 years but my first lexus guess i was just worried can't wait to take delivery hopefully tuesday if car passes MOT ok.
  9. hi all new to the forum i know it has been covered many times but as a new own still not sure on what models are what. basically i am a Jag man and recently brought a lovely XJ8 from a local main vauxhall dealer. Short story really they sold a dangerous car and had to go down legal route to get money back. I was searching around on auto trader for another Jag and found a lovely 2001 GS430 SE with nav. went down to the dealer went on a drive loved it but it had few small things, first of the brakes didn't feel good and alignment was slightly off. right to stop rabbiting on the brakes felt stiff but i am used to jags i noticed that the brake fluid was low and i think pads are on the low side too but no warning lights while driving. The car is getting an MOT tuesday and i am hoping to pick her up that afternoon. my question is i seen that the facelift doesn't suffer from this master cylinder problem is this true and how do i tell if i have a facelift car. As new to these cars can't tell the difference, also if this car does have the master cylinder problem would it fail the MOT on it. I know i am worrying about nothing and the car just needs fluid and a good bleed maybe new pads, just after reading what was on here thinking the worst. sorry if i have posted in the wrong part of the forum or wrong subject just excited to try the new car. Love my jaguars but i thought maybe this time try japanese luxury as should be more reliable, and my god that 4.3V8 what an engine.
